Two weeks until our cruise on Oasis, can't wait, love Oasis and love cruising!! This will be our 9th with Royal. Aqua 80s is the best show I have ever seen on a cruise and Cats is the worst! Great review, very informative!
77 cruises for me and I totally agree. Aqua Theatre Show is the best show at sea and Cats was not good. The ice skating show on Royal is world class!!!
I LOVED THIS REVIEW! FELT VERY HONEST AND RELATABLE!!! A lot of cruise ship reviewers always look like they are tripping on something...always too cheerful and too happy to a point it doesn't feel real and is borderline weird.
I love this video! Im so happy to hear about your first cruise experience and its seems like your hooked to cruises now lol. Im going to be going on my first cruise and people i know always frown upon them and say its crowded or a floating mall. So glad to hear that is not the case and actually quite a good investment then an all inclusive resort! Please keep up the good work and keep the videos coming 😊
Yes! We were on the same cruise I figured if you can’t beat them join them so I was at the pool by 8:00 to get a chair Other than that we loved it and booked a nine night next August
Fun fact about the Oasis class; the pipes on the smokestacks actually retract, which you can see as you're crossing under the bridge, and they run at it at higher than usual speed to create a suction effect that further drags the ship down further in the water to help ensure clearance.
Fabulous review. We've cruised all but the Wonder of the current Oasis class ships, and totally found this review so enjoyable. Loved your assessment of CATS. Spot on. We're one of those who left the performance at the once offered intermission. We're booked for an upcoming Oasis cruise and have not been on her since she's been amplified, so looking forward to it. Did you go to any specialty restaurants?
Glad you liked the review. We did not go to any specialty resturants. We wanted to try out everything that you get for free. Our next cruise I will review the Unlimited Dining package. stay tuned!
Love your review! Thank you for the info! Your frankness is Fantastic! My husband is the cruise grinch! Working on him now and sending him your review!

@@kenthealey1058 yup. I see so many RUclips tube users and other social media users telling people to bring them but a simple check of RC's website will clearly show the rules.
Thanks for your heads up. We’re boarding this Friday with my wife, daughter and son-in-law and a bunch of friends, it looks like we’ll have a great time. We haven’t been on a cruise since 96 on the carnival carnivale so this should be awesome.
I was on the same trip! We walked onto the ship on embarkation day. 2 adults and 2 children...all vaccinated. The key was checking in at midnight the day we were able to. I received an 11 am checkin time. From what I've heard, that made all the difference. Only complaint I had was that the dining crew seemed understaffed. They did their best but the lines were crazy at the Windjammer and the sitdown breakfast in the main dining
Our experience wouldn't have been too bad if it wasn't for the required "instant" covid test for our unvaxed 4-year-old. That hour-long wait for the instant results was the show stopper.
76 cruises for me. About a third on Royal which is my favorite line. Oasis class ships are amazing. By far the best choice to make are the Oasis class ships. There are 5 of them with 2 more being built.
Really, really well done video 👍 We literally just got home from doing our first cruise with RC on Adventure of the Seas and we booked our next cruise on Oasis of the Seas while on board. This was an excellent review and beautifully presented. Well done indeed 👍
Very good video and very honest. We came home to England last Wednedsay after doing this same cruise. My husband said about having room service for breakfast but I said No but after seeing your review I wish we had. This was my first cruise and loved it. Agree with the show cats.
I appreciate this review. I'm going on this same cruise later on this year. It's going to be my first cruise as well. This answers most of my questions.
Thanks for the review! Headed on this cruise next May. This was very insightful after just getting back from a South Caribbean cruise on explorer of the seas last month. Your video made me long for it again. Can't wait to hang in Coco Cay!
Thank you for the information and helpful video. Me and my family are going on this Same exact cruise june 2023. Port for Port and sailing out of jersey so this helps.. thanks again
My husband and I went on the Oasis on a cruise going north to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick the 1st weekend of June. We throughly enjoyed the experience. We did not buy any of the food or drink packages as we are not drinkers. We ate in the dining room for dinner every evening. We enjoyed the jazz club practically every evening. We did purchase drinks but with the on board credit our overall drink bill was less than $90.00. Breakfast in the Solarium was wonderful. In the dining room was okay. Our ride back to New Jersey was very foggy and rainy. I was impressed with how they moved over 5000 people on and off the ship in a short amount of time and were able to leave port at 4 pm for the next cruise. Definitely recommend for families with children. Lots to do.
Orlando/Port Canaveral shouldn’t be a port of call at all! There’s NOTHING there! What was RCL thinking?! It should 2 days at Coco Cay or a different port entirely. Nassau is ok just a lot of construction post recent hurricanes.
The reason for certain ports is determined by many things like the actual size of the port, location, economic conditions, crime, choice and availability of activities, weather, etc... Orlando yes, NOT a beautiful scenic port. BUT it is centrally located not far from MANY popular sites. Disney, other theme parks, beaches, the Everglades, etc... That's why ALL the cruise lines go there.
@@stn0920 Wrong. The oasis 7 night cruise leaving New Jersey takes a while to get down to the Caribbean area and RCL base for food/drinks is replenished is in Florida. So it's a NECESSARY port of call.
@@everbrightcineWhat exactly am I "wrong" about? You DO realize that like every cruise line goes there. And it's not a secret at all that Florida... and specifically Orlando is a destination place . There are also a lot of ships that embark from there too. Of course they refuel and replenish there also... like they do at many other ports.
You’ve got eight hours…there’s transportation that costs about $32 a person that’ll get you either 3 1/2-5 hrs on WDW property (Disney Springs, or, if you’re ambitious, maybe Epcot??) or the same at Universal (CityWalk or one of the two parks)…still get you back in time, and a lot cheaper than SOME all-day shore excursions for the best theme parks on Earth (albeit a short time there!)
I agree with most of what you said, My wife and I took are first cruise back in June on the Allure of the seas. the biggest complaint was the pool deck filled up fast. We did not experience and broadway shows , they were cancelled prior to the sail, also we didn't have any long lines anywhere. If there was a short line it moved rather quickly. We did enjoyed the balcony over the Central garden and stayed mid ship on the 10th floor. We didn't experience hiccups from the time we arrived off the bus to getting on the ship. We are currently planning another trip but will try another Oasis ship class and to another travel route . This was a positive experience.!!!!
Loved your review! We were on Oasis several years ago, pre-covid and loved the ship. Looks like the shows are not what they used to be. We’ve been on 9 cruises (Royal, NCL and only 1 Carnival) over the last several years and can’t wait to get back out there. Still waiting to see how it’s going post-covid so love seeing videos like this.
We're booked on this cruise in '23. My wife and I are veteran cruisers, but this will be my daughter's first cruise. She'll be all but 8, and we hope she loves it.
You were so right about having a meal on your room balcony/terrace!!! I tell everyone to make sure they have a balcony/terrace to their room!!! Thanks for this, I'm going on Oasis later this year out of Miami. While I agree with you that Cats is out of date, we actually picked the ship for Cats specifically. I have a soft spot for 80's broadway and if it's bad, we can make jokes about it for the rest of the vacation (which we've done for other entertainment on our last cruise)

we are taking the same trip in August. While we have been on several cruises, your review was very timely and important. This will be our first cruise on Oasis and first time out of New Jersey.
Thanks for the review. Just book it for Oct. Getting my money back. Kidding.. But man this drink package is killing me. I'm looking AT 1095 for 2. last 2 times I've been successful in sneaking in liquor. Might just have to again.
We were on this cruise July 1-8. It was outstanding. We had very little waiting anywhere. The staff worked so incredibly hard. We loved the food in the main dining room and Windjammer. Hanging out in Central Park was beautiful. While the Cats performers were really great, the show is not interesting. Loved the diving show and the skating show. The wifi was not very good. Download some videos before you go. Get surf but NOT stream. Not worth the extra money. Hearing live music everywhere was a big highlight. The country singer in the bbq restaurant that you could hear on deck. The jazz. The Caribbean band. All tremendous. Unfortunately we came home with Covid. And we drove to the port, no air travel. We would definitely go again.
Yes the staff is really the star of the show. I was very pleased to see that the ship was not understaffed for the most part. Next cruise we need to check out Port Side BBQ.
Where were you when you got the shot of the Verrazano Bridge when you went under it? I work with seniors and I am creating RUclips videos for them to go on virtual cruises with me. I would love to get that shot. Fun fact: Oasis is so tall that it can't pass under that bridge in the winter due to the snow and ice in that part of the bay. That's why, in the winter, it moves to Florida.
Wow, you're review for Oasis of the Seas is concise! Don't know how you packed that all in one video but you did. Great content and new subscriber here! Would you happen to have more footage of the cruise? We'll be cruising the Oasis next month.
@@sol_tropical Any more videos of Oasis is great. Thanks! Had our cruise in August and it was amazing!! Still love to see other people's experience on Oasis. We skipped Cats but did take a sneak peak to say we "saw" it. Though the performers were on point and so was the stage.
My first cruise was on the Oasis back in January. I agree with most of what you said. Overall it was an amazing experience and we’re cruising again in January 2023. This time on the NCL Encore.
Going on this ship in Feb 2024 and can't wait! This will be my second Royal trip in 15 years!!!! I also got an oceanview balcony. I always tell people go balcony or stay home. 😁
Thank you for sharing your first time cruising experience. I wonder if anyone can share how they got to Cape Liberty. I am coming from Throggs Neck, The Bronx, NYC and will probably have to ask someone to drive me. I wonder, is there any way I can drive and park for the duration of the cruise. Is this worth it? Is it safe? Anyone out there done it?
We used an uber from NJ and it was straightforward. Just open up google maps on your phone and enter cape liberty and you can get a preview of the route and duration of the trip to the port. I researched parking at the port for about 5 seconds and once I saw some of the prices (which I forgot) I eliminated that option due to the high cost.
Tell me about that room....we're looking to book on Oasis of the Seas.....Going with Dad.....Dad will be alone, but will book one of our children in his room, and then there will be 3 officially assigned to our room (Me, wife, and one daughter), but all four will stay in an inside room....8 yr old and 3 year old....will our coach be turned into that kind of bed? Was it comfortable?
Our room was comfortable for 3 people. When the sofa turns into a bed, it becomes tight and hard to walk around. The sofa bed was huge for our 4 year old and could easily accommodate two young children. What you really need to look at is the square footage of the room you are booking. The balcony rooms were 180 square feet not counting the balcony. If the interior room you are trying to book is dramatically smaller than that I would advise a NO GO. If we had two kids in our room it would have been doable but it would have been tight and annoying at times. Having 4 people in a smaller room, especially if you have to deal with baby bottles and a stroller. I would pass. It can be done and is regularly done but definitely not for me.
Indeed we did. It worked great. With that said it took a couple tries to get it to work but I blame that mostly because the wifi on the ship is god awful. barely any coverage in the room. once it was up and working and everyone's phones and tablets were locked onto the router's wifi and not the ships it was smooth sailing..
We just got off the ship Room 12680, there is a hidden plug under the side of the bed, I'm guessing for CPAP, I had my little fan and charger plugged in it all week.
I’ll be on this cruise in July! I noticed that a lot of the shore excursions are listed as sold out online. Did you notice any availability opening up once you got on the ship?
I did not notice any sales or promotions for excursions. The only thing I did notice was one couple complaining that they got bumped off of a paradise island excursion in Nassau. They noted other families were bumped off the excursion as well. I guess it was oversold. When we booked the cruise the only excursion available was some whacky jeep ride in Nassau. We passed.
What about the gym, sauna, run/walking track around the ship, casino, flow rider etc? Too much time on gluten free, drinks packages literally a killer, people sucking down sugar all day to get their monies worth.
The running track is a great feature of the ship. We used it on most days. I should have mentioned it in the video. I made a separate casino video. Flowrider is fun but the wait in line is too long. I spoke about things that I had video of. I didn't spend any time in the gym. Thanks for watching.
Yes, The testing was done in a section of the main dining room. When we went in the morning there was little to no wait time. One big * unlike the test done on embarkation day the day we were never emailed the results from this second test on the ship. I don't think it was day five but I am not sure. I think it was closer to disembarking day possibly day 6 or 7. Regardless we never received the results and I could not log onto the website provided to get the results. I tried multiple times, multiple ways to get the results. Ultimately I quickly and easily got the results by calling an 800 number that was on the website. I was emailed the results immediately. We needed the results to send our child back to school and ultimately he missed out on a day of school because I couldn't access the results via the web. I should have called the number first.
Unfortunately COVID has caused significant delays at this port and I'm sure others as well. My wife and I have cruised from this port many times prior to COVID and it has definitely been the quickest and most organized we have ever cruised from. Hopefully one day the COVID requirements will disappear and they will be able to get back to their speedy embarcation.
@@sol_tropical I find the delays are due to them having to check everyones vaccination status and with so many people travelling from different states and countries seems to be many different proof documents. We're from Canada and have cruised from there twice this year and have had to help them find the information they require from our documents to try and help speed it up for them. We'll be on Oasis last week of September and looking forward to it as it will be our first time on Oasis class. We've sailed multiple times on Anthem of the Seas out of Bayonne and really enjoy that ship.
We did this trip on 7/15. Just my husband and I, we left the kids home for this one but we are taking the whole family on Wonder this February. I agree with everything you said. We did briefly get off the ship at Port Canaveral, we hated it. If we docked earlier we would have taken the shuttle to Disney, (I just wanted to go to Epcot) but since you can't disembark until 1:30, you only get 5 hours at the park. Not worth the cost of park admission, if we got there at 8am that would have changed things. Apparently on our trip the Disney bus broke down and we had to wait for them. We watched them board and cheered them on from the front of the ship! I also agree Cats was awful. The set, costumes, makeup and cast were amazing, the show itself made no sense. I love Broadway, we live 2 hours from the city and we go to shows often, never had an interest in Cats. I cannot understand for the life of me how at one point that was the longest running Broadway show. This was also the smoothest and quickest disembarkment I have ever experienced. Almost not lines, and the time it took to leave our room, get our luggage and get through customs was less than 15 minutes. Usually takes twice as long.
simple. you have your phone connect to the wifi of the travel router not the ship. Then you point the router in it's app to ships wifi, wifi.guests.oasis (or whatever it is I am just guessing) and on your phone you go to the zoom connect site and enter in whatever information you need to login.
Were you able to park in the parking garage? We were sent to a remote lot and still had to pay $175. After our cruise I heard that 3 ships are now departing from Bayonne.
Of course. I bought it from amazon and it is called POWSAV USB Wall Charger but really the best way to find it is to just type "cruise charger" into amazon and it will be the top result for about $14. I wouldn't worry too much about whether it is accepted or not. A lot is discussed about this since extension cords and power strips are not accepted but at the end of the day your laptop cable is nothing more than an extension cord and those are accepted. Each departure port will be different but my entire backpack was searched, which had inside this plug, laptop, extension cord, drone, camera + charger and it was all passed through. Buy the charging cube, bring good phone cables, and enjoy your cruise!
I wasn't but for the two days that we had the package, I was able to use it and share the wifi to our 5+ devices at the same time instead of having to log out and switch. With all that said I could have used the router to share downloaded media (movies) to our devices and Fire-stick without having the internet package but we didn't because the ship TV was fine for the limited amount of time, we spent watching it.
You have that correct. Most situations have returned to pre-pandemic practices with the exception of the crew wearing masks, muster drills mostly digital, and unvaccinated guests are required "day of" testing and on board testing but that could change at any moment if it hasn't changed already.
This is the best review so far I have seen on Oasis, thanks for getting to the point and being super clear about everything ! So helpful!

Love the video, im gonna book Harmony of the seas for October 2023 Oasis class are the best
Amazing review- thank you!
Totally agree with your take on Cats. It was terrible.
Exactly what I was looking for! New subscriber ❤️
Welcome!!
we are taking the same trip in August. While we have been on several cruises, your review was very timely and important. This will be our first cruise on Oasis and first time out of New Jersey.
Have fun!
@@sol_tropical thanks.
Great review really enjoyed it thanks
Nice video, great editing.. keep it up.
Straight to the point , I like that! Thank you
Thanks for the review. Just book it for Oct. Getting my money back. Kidding.. But man this drink package is killing me. I'm looking AT 1095 for 2. last 2 times I've been successful in sneaking in liquor. Might just have to again.
I thought about that but I am too lazy to go back to the room to make a drink.
I went on that ship for Christmas 2019, I loved it
Thank you for the review....... I can't wait.
Just up on Deck 16, I believe mid-ship.
@@sol_tropical Nice! My cabin is on the same deck, so it shouldn't be hard to get that shot!
I too wish all ports of call were Coco Cay! That’s why I booked this boat with stops there and at Labadee, which is essentially a private resort!
yeah, any cruise with a stop at CoCo Cay and Labadee is a cruise for me!
Wow, you're review for Oasis of the Seas is concise! Don't know how you packed that all in one video but you did. Great content and new subscriber here! Would you happen to have more footage of the cruise? We'll be cruising the Oasis next month.
I have a bunch more video but very little video of what I was talking about. I will use more in my next video.
@@sol_tropical Any more videos of Oasis is great. Thanks! Had our cruise in August and it was amazing!! Still love to see other people's experience on Oasis. We skipped Cats but did take a sneak peak to say we "saw" it. Though the performers were on point and so was the stage.
It's slow and chaos because so many people are ignoring their assigned check in time and just showing up.
My first cruise was on the Oasis back in January. I agree with most of what you said. Overall it was an amazing experience and we’re cruising again in January 2023. This time on the NCL Encore.
Can you next time show the difference between room sizes also?
Thank you about CATS! We were able to score tickets in nyc through Lucky Seat... boring and not great. Ground Hogs Day was better
Going on this ship in Feb 2024 and can't wait! This will be my second Royal trip in 15 years!!!! I also got an oceanview balcony. I always tell people go balcony or stay home. 😁
Loved this video
Don't the cooks call the 'gluten free' items 'Karen Specials'?
Thanks for the content.
Thanks for the info.... I been hearing the same thing about Cats for a while... Will definitely skip this one..
The Main Dining room was awesome
Thank you!
They lower the smoke stacks to clear the bridge.
Really? This is the first I have heard of this but I do know it is so close that they can't send Oasis under the bridge during the winter.
I’m going on this light in 2 days omg
Thank you the fam and I are going Aug 21st 1st one with 2 teen boys
FYI, extension cords are not allowed on the ship and will be confiscated.
Correct. They are not allowed. Mine was not confiscated.
Did you actually do the travel router thing? Or know of anyone with success doing so? Thanks
Thanks, RJ. That is a huge tip. I guess I didn't want to get down on my hands and knees and go searching.
I am going on my first and thank you for your info I will ck with a agent just to get my money's worth
I leave May 18th 2023 and I going alone
Loved this review! Any info on retesting the unvaccinated children on day 5??
Thank you I agree Tenet made no sense.
I heard that NJ port is a problem
Unfortunately COVID has caused significant delays at this port and I'm sure others as well. My wife and I have cruised from this port many times prior to COVID and it has definitely been the quickest and most organized we have ever cruised from. Hopefully one day the COVID requirements will disappear and they will be able to get back to their speedy embarcation.
While the ship had been leaving from this port for over a month it did seem like most of the workers were new hires.
By the way get video! Highly recommend for people interested in this ship or first time cruisers to see what it's like.👍
We did this trip on 7/15.
Hi,
How did you get the opportunity to log on to the Internet through your router?
You have to enter something to log in.
simple. you have your phone connect to the wifi of the travel router not the ship.
We cruised for 5 days in June on Adventure. We also had to park in the remote lot.
I never saw a real parking garage. Maybe why the cost of parking is so expensive.
@@sol_tropical how could you not see a parking garage? It is literally right next door to the terminal. You can’t miss it
Could you let me know what the make of the charger cube is, I keep hearing that RCL won't accept some charger types. Thank you
@@sol_tropical Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, really helpful
How were you able to use the router when you didn't have the internet package?
I wasn't but for the two days that we had the package, I was able to use it and share the wifi to our 5+ devices at the same time instead of having to log out and switch. With all that said I could have used the router to share downloaded media (movies) to our devices and Fire-stick without having the internet package but we didn't because the ship TV was fine for the limited amount of time, we spent watching it.
So buffets on Royal Caribbean ships have now returned to you serving yourself instead of crew serving the food you asked for?
Yes, buffets are serve yourself.
You have that correct. Most situations have returned to pre-pandemic practices with the exception of the crew wearing masks, muster drills mostly digital, and unvaccinated guests are required "day of" testing and on board testing but that could change at any moment if it hasn't changed already.
