Most talented college team ever.!!!! 3 Hall of Famers, 2 Heismans, 10 All Pro's!!! Just about every guy in the starting lineup played in the NFL. Not to bad!!!!
I just turned 16. It was the end of the month I had to collect for my paper route. Every house I stopped at I had to put my transistor radio down and would miss a couple plays. Tom Kelly and Fred Gallagher on the USC Trojans Radio Network KNX 1070AM.
I remember John Robinson discussing the locker room provided to the Trojans in Baton Rouge. They had a hole in the ceiling above where the players were sitting. Someone in the floor above was shouting down through the hole, "TIGER BAIT, TIGER BAIT....." very loudly before the game and during halftime. The players had trouble communicating because of this loud interference. Robinson wanted to stick a broom handle through the hole, but was classy and just won the game.
Joey Browner was only a freshman on this team he would start the next year with Lott, Smith, and.... Jeff Fisher. Yes, that Jeff Fisher. USC offensive linemen were all 1st round picks over the next few drafts except for center Chris Foote (6th round). Keith Van Horne (Bears), Brad Budde (Chiefs), Roy Foster (Dolphins) and Don Mosebar (Raiders). Anthony Munoz was injured and missed the entire season. He did play in the Rose Bowl though and was the 3rd overall pick in the draft (Bengals). Kevin Williams (The Bug) who caught the winning TD pass went on to work in the railroad industry as a brakeman. On Feb. 1, 1996, the freight train he was on derailed at over 100 mph coming down the Cajon Pass and he was killed.
@@bbigjohnson069Never knew Kevin Williams died, like that. He played with White at San Fernando High,. Where they won the City Championship. They had one of the most talented teams in college history.
From the time the Trojans arrived there it was complete insanity. The likkered up fans surrounding their bus. The mob waiting for them at the movie theater or their hotel. Brad Budde said on the experience "It made Notre Dame look like Romper Room."
The interception on the play at 4:20 should have probably been ruled a fumble. He threw the ball out of the end zone before establishing himself as down.
John Ed Bradley, starting Center for the Tigers and a team captain, would go on to become an accomplished writer. This LSU team would lose 3-0 to eventual Nat Champ Alabama. The Tigers were pretty dang good. Darn near beat the teams that finished 1 and 2....
@@breakmylegs7294 USC QB Paul McDonald said that he brushed his facemask. There's a photo of it somewhere. He said he thought they were fortunate to get that call. Especially 15 yards.

Fight on ✌️🏈✌️ 17-12 awesome game hand's down loud as hell yeah 🏈✌️
Lot of NFL talent on that USC defense. Larry McGrew, Riki Gray (known as Riki Ellison during his pro days), Jeff Fisher, Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith.

Marcus Allen playing fullback. Back when the 4th string running back for USC would make the NFL
Charles White got all the glory on this team, but his teammates went onto greater pro success (Anthony Munoz, Dennis Smith, Joey Browner, Ronnie Lott)
You forgot Marcus Allen...

And Keith Van Horne going on to block for Payton's records.

How can anyone listen to Mike Walden and not think of Super Dave Osborne?
Heckava time to have picture troubles.
How the Trojans escaped “Death Valley” with a win is still beyond me!
Heart of champion that's how! Fight on ✌️🏈🏈

And it was sad that the Trojans didn't have that "Heart of Champion" with them later that season at home against Stanford.

Carson should have had that TD catch.

Betting against Charles White is just not a good strategy. Mr. Clutch.
