Colombo - Batticaloa. Colombo - Jaffna. Colombo- Ella. Colombo - Trincomalee are some of the best rail journeys in the country that takes you to some of the exotic destinations in the country. Journey alone may be worth it. Trains tickets are probably the cheapest in the world.

I will be in Sri Lanka for my honeymoon next month. We only have 1 day in Colombo, so we cannot do the train to Ella. We are considering morning train from Colombo to Kandy , spend a few hours in Kandy, then train back (Kandy to Colombo) in the evening. Most of the day will be spent on the train if we do this...we cannot decide if it is worth it...is the Colombo to Kandy train a must see (I know Kandy to Ella is the epic one)? Will doing a full round trip in one day be rough? Any thoughts? If we do not spend a day doing this, we will just head to Mirissa a day early and relax there. Thank you in advance.
I hate it when you go to seafood restaurant and they show the creature you're going to eat alive before they do their thing! A lot of these Asian countries do that!
