- Part of the Warren Railroad in New Jersey from 1856, these tunnels were abandoned in 1970 due to constant flooding, maintenance repairs, and lack of traffic.
These tunnels are almost a 1000 feet long with a slight bend. It is pitch black inside and are slowly deteriorating with many collapses.
The western portals are easy to get to and accessible from roads/paths, but the eastern side was a bit of a hike as it is hidden through farm fields, woods, and chasms.
You could go through the tunnels themselves if and only if you have proper equipment such as strong lights, waist-high waterproof waders, hiking sticks, hard hats, and at least another person. It is extremely risky inside as rock falls constantly occur due to the weakened structure and outside elements. The silt inside is very soft at a certain point and you quickly sink.
It was pretty cool to see nevertheless.

As of July 16, 2023, there was a severe storm that raged through the area. It caused some massive land slide on the RT.46 side of the portals. A fairly large area of the cliff right near the entrance of the tunnels have been washed away.
Thank you for the footage
I was through both bores about a month ago.The east side is treacherous with muck almost didnt make it out.Stay out stay alive!! lol :)
Good advice!
I am surprised that the state has not sealed them or demolished them.
These were abandoned around 1972 I think. Used to play in them as kids before they collapsed. There is another tunnel about 5 miles further down the line in Oxford. It was stable until about 10 years ago. I hear it had a collapse also.
Yes. The Oxford Tunnel is flooded and in worse shape.
Great footage of brick turned to stone
I have many findings of this in Australia on my channel
Wow! Beauty with a touch of CREEPY😲🙄
Yes it was! Especially when I was in there in pitch black darkeness and complete silence.
just went through there. knee deep in mud took over an hour for 50 feet. don’t go in
Hahaha same. The east bore is viscous.
Aeesome ❤
Canada here
I love shit like this
I appreciate it. Thank you. I was always fascinated with stuff like this.
How do i get here? I cant find any entrance on google maps or any info online on how to get here? I wanna see the tunnel entrance where it says zombies
There is a day care with a parking lot across the street from Rockycreek Labradors. You may ask permission to park the car (if you drive there) and then at the end of the parking lot there is a steep-ish trail to zig zag up the cliff to make your way to the abandoned rail. Follow the rail towards the tunnel. The air will get cooler once you're in the area.
A hundred yards or so west from the day care on Rt. 46, there is a service entrance. You can leave your car on the shoulder of 46 (if you feel comfortable doing that). Walk up the service driveway and once you get to the abandoned rail, turn right and follow it to the tunnels. Caution though, there are many cameras and No Trespassing signs all around if you wander off the old rail line.
@@totobiuno Thank you!
Definitely reenforce shale before exploring. Not alone. Sound is enough to break it too.
I don't like ice around tunnels
Please don't use that font for the subtitles... Couldn't read it for crap!
Sorry. I'll know for next time.
@@totobiuno , thank you and be careful out there! My first time on your channel and I'm henpeckin like a mom already 😊. Wear a hard hat in those tunnels. You don't want to get bonked on the head!
