The scene ending there pretty much implied that the fortress was bombed as well, the reason it ended at an earlier explosion was to not show his end.
And Wikipedia stated him that he also died on the barrage.
I'm so glad they put Australian/New Zealand soldiers as characters! We're so proud of our ANZACS!

Watch the movie Gallipoli. It's sort of based around "The Runner" but Fedrick Bishop wasn't there. It was only about a kid who lied his age to join the army, his role in the war was to run from one place to another to send messages. He died in Gallipoli

That line “You lied your way to hell on earth” gets me everytime I play this story because the fact that so many men on both sides lied to get in the army.
Some as young as 12 thinking that it's an adventure but it's not it's hell.
Misconstrued patriotism has convinced doe eyed 16-19 year olds to put themselves into situations they never should've been in. Hell, still happens today.

I appreciate the recognition of Ottoman bravery at the end. It can be hard to recognize, since we view them as being the "bad guys" in the war, but their ranks were also full of young men fighting in a war much bigger than themselves.
The ottomans murdered a million Armenians known as the Armenian genocide
As in every war. This mentality needs to be remembered in all conflicts, not just ones involving ones own country. If we can do this, then their will be a lot less killing.
Wars are made by old men, who send the young to die.
I kinda feel like we should've been playing the Ottomans in this mission.
Every side is fighting for what they feel is right. There is no winner in war, only death.
To this day BF1 hands down has captured what war was like, fear, pain, death on all sides.. a great equalizer..

I was told by a friend to play The Runner last, now I know why... and it hit me so hard that I went sad for the rest of the day, along with knowing that this war actually happened, I feel sorry for the soldiers who fought in this war, they deserve more than what they have fought for, and now we live in a world of bullshit, if it weren't for the soldiers who fought WW1 and WW2, we probably wouldn't all be here, and we give them a total shit hole world, these men have more courage and bravery then any other, thank you men.

Victor Roxburgh agreed. I actually preferred to play the game in historical order, such as from the early parts of the war to the late parts of the war. So, in this case, with nothing is written being the first and through mud and blood being the very last, on account that that was the late years of the war, with the end of the mission stating that the war ends a month later.

*We* didn’t have to do jack shit for all this to happen, just like those soldiers fighting in a picture that’s so large and sprawling that they can’t see it but for the context they were ordered to fit in.
Our world is absolutely not shit. You can complain all you want about certain aspects of western culture, but we're largely VERY well off; certainly more well off than if these men didn't give their lives fighting, especially in WW2. These men died so we could have the freedom we do now.
Calling our current world "shit" and minimizing the effects of these wars is disingenuous and insinuates that these men all died for nothing, when they didn't; they died so we could enjoy the freedom all take for granted.
Aussies never die. They're just missing in action.

In all seriousness I loved how simple the story was. Veteran telling a youngster how it is, seeing him as his own son, wanting what's best for him.
For every parent figure gained on the battlefield, someone's child never dies alone.
I hope they make dlcs that give us more stories. Perhaps a story introducing the terror of chemical warfare.
Perhaps a story with Solun front that shows Serbs,Montenegrins and French against Ottomans and Bulgaria
I think they have said somewhere that the DLC will have more war stories in addition to multiplayer stuff. Presumably there's going to be French and German stuff, I hope both of those are in the singleplayer and not just MP. A story on the German side would be fantastic!

If it had Foster enlisting in boot camp and having to go through helll to get through the test in order to meet Bishop it would've deepen his character, considering he lied about his age.

Outright heroic resonance of those times represented at the centennial of it all. Great work.. and Generic Gaming: The best, and most thorough, vid edit for this campaign on youtube. I love how you incorporate the pertinent shift to First-Person gameplay. Its well suited for a vague short film. Well done. Very entertaining.

A truly moving campaign story that sends chills down the spine. Zajdi Zajdi song on the bf1 track list is also incredible!
The first wave at Cape Helles off the River Clyde consisted of the 1st/2nd Battalions of the Royal Munster Fusiliers (Irish), 2nd Battalion the Royal Dublin Fusiliers (Irish) and the 2nd Battalion of the Hampshire Regiment (British). They got a real mauling from the Turks as they tried to advance to the beach.

Remembrance Day (11/11) is in a few days so I'll be playing this mission that day. For those of you who don't know, Remembrance Day is the Eleventh of November which is when us Aussies retreated off Gallipoli.
No the ANZAC's retreated on the 18th December 1915. 11th of November was when the Armistice was signed which ended WW1.

When I saw that flare go up at the end I was both happy and sad because I knew bishop was going to die but foster would live to fight another day
the sad things is jack foster probably died as he was younger than 20 so he was old enough to be drafted into the second the world war
