No you were right about the Jenn form drunkenness, Hulk form immunity. The scene from episode 2 where she's in the bar basically confirms it. She walks in as She-Hulk, consumes who knows how much alcohol, and is talking to her boss just fine in that form. He demands she revert to Jenn form and BOOM, instant drunkard. Her Hulk metabolism hadn't burned it all out yet and now she has a normal human metabolism while trying to have a serious conversation.

But there's still the weird hangover at the tiki bar, she drank in Hulk form all night apparently and Jen form got a hangover from it. That probably shouldn't have been a thing, and if it were a thing reverting to Hulk would un do the issue. She has no need to be in Jen form so why not stay in Hulk form for an indefinite period until the headache is gone.
And what Bruce-Hulk said was true because he just stays Smart-Hulk, but She-Hulk turns back into Jen when she sleeps. Smart-Hulk won't wake with a hangover, but Jen will
So many issues with this. One Wanda did it by accident by her own trauma and is pretty much the entire show telling you that. Kamala snapping at her dad while I did enjoy the majority of the show, that was a moment that made me less sympathetic to the character. And Wanda was supposed to be seen as bad.
I like the fact that she hulk doesnt have high stakes. It's just a monster of the week kind of deal When it's a shared universe, you know for sure that any "world ending threat" isn't truly world ending.
@@edwinlaws9625 do you need to feel that she's in danger though? stakes don't just mean danger or a physical threat, and imo it's refreshing to have a super different tone in this show
Small nitpick: nobody has mentioned the Khonshu vs Ammit kaiju fight because only Moon Knight, Harrow, and maybe Layla were able to see it. That's how they operated in the rest of the show, and I don't believe we ever see civilians react to it. Sure, they rough some things up in the fight, like the truck Ammit grabs with her tail, but so did the Jackal in the museum, and it didn't even show up on cameras.
What about the part in the last episode when a bunch of Ammit's followers start extracting people's souls and feeding them to her? I'd think that at least should garner some attention
@@geekroom2365 this happened in Egypt. I am sure media around the area would be talking about it. But American Media wouldn't really notice it so in pretty much every other show it wouldn't be mentioned. I will say that they should have said something about it in Thor L+T
@@porkchopsensei2742 Hence why the main security guard thought Steven was making stuff up, and the boss fired him (not entirely sure if it was because she thought he was just slacking and potentially trying to damage and/or steal museum property). Also, those who knew what was going on were sided with Harrow and/or had connection to elements involving Egyptian Deities. Even Steven thought he was just imagining things at first, he had dealt with sleeping problems before which is why I like the fact they used Day N Night for the trailer. Sleep Deprivation can lead to paranoia, sometimes micro-sleeps and potentially hallucinations - starting to see, hear and feel things that aren't actually there. I have suffered with Insomnia for years and still am working on fixing my sleeping these days. I appreciate the show depicting stuff similar to what I've experienced, minus the mythology and super hero stuff.
As someone who did not enjoy the show, I have to 100% agree with you on Critical Drinker and other RUclipsrs who cater to an audience of hate. For me I didn't like the characters much and just felt the humor wasn't for me. Also, I want to say a huge thank you for actually critiquing the show and not just bashing on it and nitpicking for the sake of hating
She Hulk has the distinction, in my opinion, of being the only MCU show to date that I can see going on for years and years. The stakes are relatively low, the episodes are neat, and there is so much you could do. I know you said this but it actually feels like a television show that could have seasons upon seasons unlike shows like Captain America and the Winter Soldier or Wandavision
the stakes aren't that low, the writing is just masking the show's A plot as each episode's C plot...the show is clearly ramping up to a "someone wants more hulks or their own hulks" storyline
Most people really don’t know the comics. In the comics she needed the blood transfusion to save her life even though Bruce knew there was a chance it could have an effect on her. But still did it to save her after that she liked being she hulk because she always felt like a wallflower
I'm seriously liking She Hulk, but man, if I had it in my power, I'd sit the writers down to watch Night Court before doing season 02. I still consider it the benchmark for any legal comedy. Also Jen's dad needs a next door neighbour nemesis that's played by Bronson Pinchot.
In the comics, she could drink like crazy with her Hulk liver, but non-Hulk Jen was a lightweight. There was plenty of material there. I kind of feel like someone wanted to pursue it, and they decided that for whatever the reason it was a bad idea, or at least, a worse idea, to go through with it. There's plenty of material on that in the comics, though.
@@cantevenandrew You got it. They dance around it, even set it up, but we never got the full punch line like in the comics. It could have been an episode unto itself.
The way that I look at this show is "The misadventures of she-hulk" and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's definitely a nice change of pace compared to everything we've gotten so far.
She-Hulk vol 2 back in the aughts had similar premises (focusing on her law career), but they haven't even ramped it up as off-beat as that was (i just want to see Awesome Andy).
The MCU has always felt like it didn't extend beyond what we saw on screen, but She Hulk has really fixed that. It makes it feel like a world where superheroes are everywhere, just like the comics. Probably the best world building in the MCU
My biggest criticism of She-Hulk so far is that I only wish they went a little more zany with her 4th wall breaks like she would do in the Byrne run: I would love if she was talking to the director, instead of traveling to a place normally, have her just walk across a set, etc. but other than that I love the show
9:02 I think this is because the project are made so close together that one movie literally doesn't know what happened in the other, and what were the concequences while in productions, thats why you usually only see references to other movies after a few projects were already made and then we start seeing references to it
9:00 When I made my video on rewriting Thor: Love and Thunder, one of the things I changed was that I added Khonshu into the Omnipotence City scene to make the MCU feel more connected. I wholeheartedly agree that there should be more subtle connectivity!
Honestly Khonsu kinda proves Gorr’s point of Gods being selfish when you think about it, he uses mentally ill people for his gain and makes them even worse off than they were before
@@IcyDiamond well yeah, one of the main points about Gorr's arc wasn't that he was wrong, even Thor actually agrees, it's that he should be changing minds instead of attempting genocide.
@@budgiecat9039 Khonshu not being there makes total sense - the rest of the Ennead had all left, only rarely having contact through their avatars. Khonshu is not at the big party in Olympus - he's still delivering "justice" on Earth.
Thank you for this. Been getting real sick of the toxic fanbase that comes with mainstream popularity. All those jabroni videos honestly make me feel gross for being a fan.
Do you actually mean all the dummies that complain about female leads and muh Man-Hulk? Or do you mean all those peope who are fans of Jen Walters She Hulk in the comics, who dared complain that they ruined her character and origin story? Or those MCU fans that feel like they completely are dropping the ball on the interconnected universe part?
I’ve been mixed on the show so far, finding it largely entertaining, but I’ve had moments here and there where something felt… off or missing, I guess, I’m not really sure how to explain it, or put my finger on what’s holding it back from feeling like a better watch for me. For the most part, though, I’ve been positive on She-Hulk, and Nando’s take here is refreshing to see among most of the other discussion around the show.
On Hulk: I remember picking up Secret Wars - the first one in the 80s - and seeing some characters that had been through changes in their own books that I wasn't reading. Like Rhodes being Iron Man or Hulk being smart. It took a line of dialogue to explain it and I could move on from there. Hulk's metamorphosis feels the same way here. Like he's just guest starring in this series or in the Avengers films, while he's still having his own adventures in something we can't watch. And given that this was a thing revealed 3 years ago in Endgame, I don't know why anyone is bothering to hold it against the She-Hulk series now.
Honestly, even without the scene of her explaining her transformations, I don't think you could say Jenn catfished anyone. I just can't picture a world where you could knowingly go on a date with a Hulk, without knowing about the whole transformation thing.
Well... remember that scene in Angel where the guy didn't know Captain America and Steve Rogers were the same person? He had read the book and assumed they were two different Super Soldiers, ... I believe that is the vast majority of people
Maybe it’s like not knowing some aspect of a Kardashian’s life. You’ve probably heard all kinds of things about them but maybe not retained the details. Then dating one and finding out something weird for yourself might be a weird experience. Or he had the idea in his head of what it was like but actually seeing her post transformation was just unexpectedly weird for him. Which is saying something because she pounced on him through a portal with demon goop in her hair and carried him to the bedroom like a small child. But seeing her as a normal human weirded him out.
I’m low key wondering if the man Nando mentioned will even bother to respond? Love the call outs, I’m surprised he didn’t called out Jeremy from both Geeks and Gamer and TheQuartering, and Nerdrotic. But love it nonetheless!
@@soccerruben1 probably because the drinker is the only 1 who's actually a "critic", while the others are commentators, speaking completely off the cuff. He's in style with what Nando does, making it easier to call him out.
Nah. Lol you can like the show, but those receipts were trash. Most of the women who lost to men were in phase 3 and captain marvel didn't lose to anyone in her movie. Half of the phase 4 losses were not from men and he counted mikari twice for the same fight. He also counted tva rando and aunt may who aren't even heroes. Most of the "wrong" list are characters that aren't meant to be seen as bad guys which is the point that those folks are usually talking about and one of them hasn't even proven to be a bad guy yet. His lists were kind of a reach.
@@soccerruben1 Sometimes the Drinker makes great points about plot holes and bad writing, and sometimes he's just disgusting. He called Jane in Love and Thunder "Natalie Portperson" during his review and while I think it's a terrible movie, turning her name into a woke derogative because he didn't like the character she played was just unfunny and uncalled for.

Same. I guess people who like the show aren't as vocal as those who hate it. I am always excited when a new episode comes out and I'm gonna be sad when it's over.
@ ppl who like anything are never as vocal as th ppl who hate it. It's like some social currency to be the "hatiest" of something and it gets the most attention. I do like this show and have been saying since the beginning that show has a sitcom style to it so not every episode is going to relate to previous ones.
Things I did like about the show: - The main actress. - The court room cases - Wong and the party girl - Jen's family - Episode 8 Things I didn't like: - Episode 6 - Episode 9 - Jen's firm partners Overall note: 6.5/10. Not the worst, definetly not the best.
"Jen shows up and does everything better than Bruce" Yeah sure, totally does it better, see Jen can throw a rock our of orbit with one finger unlike Bruce that used one arm.... Seriously they miss the point that Bruce is in civilian mindset, it's like a baseball player throwing a basic pitch when playing with his teenage son, or lore appropriately cousin. The cousin throws a curve that catches the pro off guard. Does that mean the kid is better? Heck no, if he got moderately serious that kid would be in the grass. As demonstrated by Hulk chugging the stone out of orbit.
My favorite thing about she-hulk from the beginning is how it feels like it’s building up the mcu. We get to see D tier, lame superheroes and villains in a world where every character with powers has previously been an avenger.
I honestly don't hate She Hulk it's not awful . I wouldn't say it's the best MCU Disney plus series for me that goes to either Loki, Wandavision or Moon Knight but it's definitely not the worst show I've ever watched I've definitely seen worse. I just tolerate it in the end
wow i literally just mentioned those 3 as the ones i like more than She-Hulk as well, lol. I agree w you, I'm just so excited to finally get a follow-up to Incredible Hulk as I think it is a very under-appreciated film.
completely agree. there's a time and place for the limited miniseries format, but especially with marvel pumping out this much content there has to be a mix, and I think this longer, maybe lower budget, episodic format is sorely needed. We actually get to just hang out with these characters rather than powering through to an anticlimactic finale (Ms Marvel was the biggest let down for me, such a strong start just petering out when it could've been a nice long, just hanging out at school and having monster of the week Buffy-esque things). Lean into being TV shows.
I think the difference between she hulks arrogant character and other marvel characters arrogance is that in other marvel films it is shown as an issue to overcome, but in she hulk it praises said arrogance instead of viewing it as a problem.
@@fj0823 actually no it's not. Not only does his arrogance get called out in almost every movie it is the leading cause of all of his problems. In fact, to show that he's grown as a character in Endgame, when he discovers time travel he hesitates to use it. He's charming because he is confident, not because he is arrogant.
Now this isn’t me calling you out, while I don’t disagree with your points, and while I don’t hate them, I DO understand them. If you like the show, awesome, we do need a positive outlook on something everyone dislikes once in a while. For example. I really like the first suicide squad movie. But I do wonder, with your points about Jen and her needing that attitude check because she’s gone by without one, what would you do if the show never does that and she’s left to be looked at as right the entire time? Would you make a follow up video?
Thanks for making this video Nando, I've been pretty down on She-Hulk because in particular I really dont like the legal writing in the show but there are positives about the show that I've been overlooking that you've brought up. I'm definitely going to try re-watching the show once its all out and give it another shot
The comedy for me personally doesn't land most of the time and the shows seems pretty reliant on the comedy, it being a sitcom. But I've also just been getting burnt out on marvel recently
If you're burned out on Marvel, then you could just... not watch Marvel stuff? I know it's advertised a lot but like, Mickey Mouse isn't strapping you to a chair and forcing you to watch Marvel content, or videos about Marvel content.
@@faroffgrace5490 I'm not hating on any of it. I grew up on this stuff since I was 5. At this point I just wanna see it up until secret wars. After that I'm probably done. You've made some great points and now looking back at the people who tell me it's awful I really do see them as you've described.
and men are basically clowns in there. The only one who acts like a real person is Emil Blonsky but what do you know? He turns out to be bad by the end of the season.
Well articulated and well said. I heard so much bad about the show before I watched it (I waited until it was all out to binge) but was very happy with the show overall. I didn't like the ending so much but at least it was different. My only complaint was from the first episode and how it did seem a little too easy for her. I know she will have struggles but seeing at how long it took Bruce to become who he is, I was a little disappointed when she had full control almost instantly and didn't "Need" the help. It does come across as her "Not having flaws" but I think the first few transformations should have been more primal but she adapts quickly, partially due to Bruce and partially due to her own natural ability. It's only really a small nitpick, that I wanted more struggle in the first episode but the rest was fun.
Man, I agree with pretty much EVERY WORD YOU SAID in this video. About She-Hulk, about the CGI in She-Hulk, about the RUclipsrs who hate She-Hulk, and even (especially) about the weird lack of interconnection in Phase 4! Okay, wait... I wouldn't call She-Hulk the best of the Disney + MCU shows. I just don't find it as funny as I'd like a comedy series to be. But I agree with everything else you said.
Yeah, like I’m sorry, there’s a LOT of criticism’s you could make about the MCU or Star Wars, but if the person making those arguments use “Woke” unironically as part of that argument, then in my mind the entire argument goes down the drain

I really liked she hulk too 👐🏻 And one of my favourite parts, is exactly what you commented of how this show is the first that makes more sense of a world that has aliens and “super - people” and so on… also the fact that is relatable to adults, for example, I always felt kinda bad that Steve rogers didn’t really get to have a girlfriend until he was able to go back on time.
I just finished She-Hulk, and I have to say, I really, really enjoyed it. I felt it really captured the essence of the character, especially from the Slott run which is just the best ever. It took me a bit to get into this series unfortunately, as I've been dealing with a bit of Marvel burnout, plus all the alternatives vying for my attention (I've somehow been able to stay up to date on Rings of Power and Andor, but I'm also lagging behind on HotD, for example). It also took me an episode or two to get used to the voice/tone of the show, since the episodic sitcom format has a rather different feel than most other Marvel shows, so it took me a moment or two to realize this new flavor was something I was enjoying (if that makes sense...). Once my mind understood what it was trying to be, I could then enjoy it for what it was. Its uniqueness is part of what makes it great and why it is a series worth making with stories worth telling. Thank you for making this video. The negativity running rampant everywhere about everything these days is just... It is exhausting. It is ever present and inescapable. It literally drains me. I wish I were stronger, but... here we are.
I'm lagging behind on Andor. Heard it's great 👍 hope you haven't had too many spoilers for HOTD, unless you're a book reader of course 😉. But the show is great. Can't wait for for season 2!!
If multiple men followed me into a parking lot after I clearly didn't want them to, I would do my own personal version of She-Hulking: cussing them out, threatening to call the police, and if neither of those work I'd begin the castrations. That is extremely, most definitely not okay. Making someone feel that unsafe is a big deal. Anyone who says otherwise is A) not a woman and B) has never been bullied by someone stronger than them
The only criticism I really agreed with for this show is that I would much prefer it if Jen enjoyed being she-hulk and had to learn the downsides, I guess I just prefer that type of characterisation, but she is getting there through development just in the opposite way, learning both the *real* downsides and the upsides she didn't see before
What do u mean in the opposite way tho? isn’t she literally becoming the uber-likeable but also the “idgaf” / “no-BS” type of character that we know & love from the comics ?
She would have had way more she hulk and action scenes with more budget they said. Which is wild, considering Disney is the largest media company the earth has ever seen and they wont even pay thei3 CGI people properly as it is. So yea, great idea they could have looked into with more CGI scenes, where she wrecks stuff and people.
@@SaveDareDevil-Mx Because what he is explaining is how Jen behaved in the comics. You know the soruce material that made She-Hulk famous and garneed millions of fans for over 40 years.
24:32 well Wanda was for some reason justified by Rambeau, in a weird line when she says, "they dont know what you sacrificed for them", and that line ircks me to this day, she didnt sacrifice anything besides a fake family she made that lasted maybe a week, while making everyone else unable to see their own children while feeling agony.
Yup, totally agree. My only issue with She-Hulk is the character design. Hair is too perfect and her eyes.. idk how to describe it but they seem too animated? Like anime eyes? It's cg i know but Bruce's eyes look so much better in comparison. And her suits look unrealistic as well. That is my only complaint about the show. Other than that, i really needed a fun show among the others like WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye, Falcon etc. I hope She-Hulk gets more seasons.
Excellent work! The other thing I’m thinking is that the MCU has set the bar too high, and some of us are burned out this phase, but that applies to most Marvel things right now. She Hulk probably gets targeted for overall phase 4 issues by these guys
As far as it relates to The Critical Drinker, no, he really wants to hate the show before he's seen more than a brief clip and I'm fairly certain he just hates women in general given the disdain he shows throughout his videos. Check out the "She Hulk is comedy" video.

Real, non-bot reply here because this comment deserves more attention. The drinker and his fan base are a bunch of obnoxious children. A definite case could be made against Disney’s “progressive” hypocrisy for example, but that’s beside the point. Disliking a movie is one thing. I’ll give him that. But insulting the actors and creative department behind a movie because YOU don’t like it is a shallow, childish thing to do. I’ll never forget the time the Drinker started making fun of Natalia dyer’s body in his ST season 3 “review”, calling her scrawny and telling her to eat a sandwich. It’s what opened my eyes to the kind of content he puts out, and it looks like he hasn’t changed a bit…
I actually like she hulk, I've been trying to avoid it because of the number of people saying its bad, but when I watch it myself, it was actually great. The shehulk daredevil fight wasn't that great, but it wasn't that bad anyway.
Much respect to you and your team Nando! Laziness is the reason there are so many hate videos/similar topic videos on youtube. Many "creators" look at what's trending (a word and concept that I loathe) and push out videos as quickly as possible to make a quick buck or fulfill their video quota. I'm still not convinced one way or another that the show is for me, but I'm glad you voiced your opinion boldly. I find it genuinely interesting!
As long as her being a egotistical and arrogant is part of her arc to becoming an actual super hero, then in all for it. But they didn’t change that with captain marvel, so I’m kind of nervous they won’t with Jen.
I haven’t been keeping up with She-Hulk, but I have been running into many of the same RUclipsrs in relation to Rings of Power. I feel much better now that I have learned I can call them Jabronies.
I love she-hulk so much. somewhat familiar with the material and I really don't have that big of a complaint just that the show would really be fun to embrace the court drama comedy genre. not everyone's cup of tea but i still like the show.
Finally a nice video about She Hulk. I love it. Everything doesn't have to be boom boom all the time. It's perfect. It doesn't feel like I'm watching a Marvel production but it also does in aspects.
At 13:10, are you talking about your older videos where you'd make tweaks to movie plotlines and stuff? I always thought of those more as speculative "what-if" kind of videos. Like a YT video version of fan-fiction.
i only recently came across your channel and it is already by far my favorite one in the whole nerd/comic/movie scene. in contrast to other channels you are actually funny, you do know a lot about the topics you talk about, have creative ideas and you seem to be (as seen in this video) a decent grown-up person. sad to see that you don't reach as much people with your videos as other big channels that talk about similar topics do
Tatiana Maslany is great as Jennifer Walters. Aside from that, I think the show is just not funny. The writing to me is predictable and boring when it comes to their jokes and even their story beats. But the bigger issue for me is the "Attorney at Law" aspect. The way these courtroom scenes play out do not make sense sometimes. You can say it's a sitcom so for comedic purposes they take liberties. But there's so many great comedies that take place in a courtroom and they follow the rules on how a real courtroom works. Lastly, my BIGGEST issue is Titania. How did she get her powers? Did that fight she have with She-Hulk at the courtroom in the first episode not have any consequences? I love the influencer angle they gave her. I'm just confused with everything else about her.
"I appreciate you being toxic and attacking someone for their opinions". dude I don't really care if you like him or not but it's just toxic and childish to make videos trashing other people. at least critical drinker's points whether you agree or not he makes actual points and doesn't rely on just saying someone else is wrong. if a show is genuinely great then your points should be enough to prove it.

@@luckymark571 kind of. If he broke down more points sure but he picked one small one. Broke it down, while not playing the actual clip, you see delivery of a sentence can change everything. Critical drinker exaggerates and has a lot of expression then nando read it in a very monotone voice with none of that so you lose what drinker meant and essentially is portraying what nando wants you to think. Because those guys hadn't done anything YET. They were being annoying sure. That's not a criminal offence and you don't go to attack them (which she did but hulk stopped her). Also how is insulting him and calling a "jabronie" constructive criticism? It isn't he is just insulting him. Also yeah you're right drinker is just a RUclips critic... Just like nando so this point means nothing.
Thank you for your take, even if I disagree with a lot of it. Ignoring any messaging concerns, the show just seems very poorly written a lot of the time. Jen comes across as a narcissist, but I'm not seeing any payoff or growth coming to develop and make the character more sympathetic.
This was a phenomenal video Nando, as per usual your content is great and this isn't any different! I definitely got solid enjoyment out of She-Hulk, it wasn't flawless but I still had a lot of fun (something most of the films didn't really do for me this year). You touched on this in the video already, but my only "major" complaint was She-Hulks design, for two reasons. 1: I don't think She-Hulk looks anything like Tatiana Maslany; they almost feel like entirely different characters to me. (Where I still can see Mark in Hulk) 2: Like mentioned, I definitely think she could have been "beefed" up a little bit. She feels like the female selection of a fantasy race in an MMO. You have the giant hulking men and then the girls who are just different colors and look like human women. Definitely not enough to make me dislike the show or hold it accountable, it is just that we've started to see the MCU adopt the comics appearances in suits and designs but they were too afraid to adapt her for some reason.
I really hope the next phase of MCU makes more sitcommy shows like this. I’ve recently been randomly watching episodes of She Hulk, not even in order, and they’re a pleasant bite sized superhero watch. It’s probably the only rewatchable MCU tv show along with What If.
I think my biggest issue with She Hulk is not the show itself, but the fact that it basically confirms what I've been worried about since Ragnarok. That the Hulk will never be cool on screen again. At best, he'll be used to set up a bigger threat, the MCU's Commander Warf, only there to be espoused as incredibly powerful, only to have his clock cleaned to show how powerful someone else is.
I mean they can't really do that anymore either since as smart hulk he isn't nearly as strong. hulks strength is tied to his anger and now he isn't angry at all
@@Frostbite08 honestly I'm not so sure that that would be the movie they do. In universe right now it would make no sense to do world breaker hulk right now
@@kagenoo1084 Really? I'd say they're absolutely primed right now. We got World Breaker in the comics because Hulk finally found happiness and contentment on Sakaar, and then it was ripped away from him, unleashing a new level of fury. The rage-filled Hulk of the MCU before Ragnarok could never have had that attachment because he was just a rage-machine unable to think more than a few minutes ahead. Now he's got a lot more Bruce in him, and he can actually form those attachments, they can consequently be taken away. After all, Bruce thinks he has a grip on the hulk right now, but then, on Sakaar Hulk thought he had a grip on Bruce, so the balance is never so clear cut. If they really wanted to go down the World Breaker route, they absolutely have an in on that, they just need to establish what it is Bruce/Hulk would need to lose to achieve that first.
@@Digitize27 I don't think that smart hulk is the same as hulk on sakaar. It's not that Bruce is in control of the hulk it's more that he has come to an understanding with the hulk. Plus it wasn't just that hulk was happy and it was taken away, he was betrayed and sent away and when he finally found peace the ship that he was sent away on blew up and took it from him. World breaker hulk wasn't just rampaging. His anger was targeted twords everyone who betrayed him. You can't do world breaker hulk without the betrayal and he doesn't currently have anyone he's close enough to that the betrayal would turn him to world breaker.
The fact that someone thinks that the scene of the men surrounding Jen at the bar wasn't just harassment but also dangerous says a lot about their world view to the point where their take on the show can't be taken seriously. Its like a youtube food channel who only eats potatoe chips criticizing a steak for being too red, they don't understand the subject
My favorite categories of media: Legal shows Super Hero Sitcoms (Especially this to the point of obsession) And I really feel she hulk failed at all 3 spectacularly
She Hulk is one of my favourite superheroes, so when I saw the various thumbnails I opted not to watch it for fear it wouldn't do the big gal justice. Thanks so much for making this video!
I actually really appreciate seeing this perspective because the conversation has leaned a little too far into bad faith criticism, but I can't say that I don't sympathize with how people felt about the first few episodes. Yes Bruce was right to lecture Jen and that was her flaw, but the show itself failed to show her being a likable character. Imo I Jens scene was acted out really well but her speech itself honestly felt gross, she outright says she is better at handling herself and her emotions, then a character who was known for attempting suicide. Ironman, Thor, and Dr Strange have never done that. The first few episodes of She-Hulk also suffer from the WW1984 problem of depicting every man in as much negative stereotype as possible, and I honestly don't blame people for losing faith in the show for that. She-Hulk hooked me back in near the end, and I loved all the daredevil stuff and the unique ending, but I can't not sympathize with people who dislike the show.
@lastrolo "The entire show was done in bad faith, anyone that disliked it was an incel" It provoked the right people, the ones who weren't real MCU fans to start with.
@Nortius Maximus69 Isn't that just an example of a character flaw, being overconfident She SAYS she can control her emotions but OBVIOUSLY cant, and she loses control because she's uncomfortable and scared, another piece of proof that she's overconfident in herself and disproving her previous point. Anyway why does a character HAVE to be likable, I'd rather have a character written well than a likable one.
Maybe there are so many videos like that because the show is bad. Maybe learn to accept criticism of things you like instead of seeking validation elsewhere
@L2 Sentinel This comment right here. Those awful recommendations got into me so much that I seem to agree with them, even without watching their videos.
@@markivwilson2891 And yet despite calling it the worst show in history 5 minutes into episode 1, isnt it weird that all these youtube channels are STILL watching it the second a new episode drops and posting videos within hours? I agree with all your points for sure. I actually think it's pretty funny and I really enjoy the peeks into the wider MCU through c-list characters. Sure, the CGI is a bit wonky at times, but I'm willing to overlook it. Still better than anything you'd see on network/cable sitcoms
Man, I hate The Critical Drinkers of the world as much as any kind-hearted person should, and I know this is just your opinion, but I think you're heaping a whole lot of undeserved praise onto this series. The best Disney Plus show? Really? Better than the (...comparatively) groundbreaking WandaVision and epic AF Loki? She-Hulk fails as a sitcom, as a lawyer show, as a superhero show, and as a social commentary piece. And that's just my opinion, but as someone who loves your stuff and often agrees with you, I'm just genuinely shocked that you think so highly of this show. It barely cracks mediocre for me. To each their own, I suppose.
i'm not huge on she-hulk, i think its been pretty middle of the road for the mcu shows so far, but you made some really compelling points. it doesnt seem to have any huge goals as a series, and i thought that was due to a lack of ambition and execution. but a lot of mcu content fails because it cant handle the basics of story telling, and theres nothing wrong with an in universe take on a normal sitcom. maybe its not as much a mediocre show than a show thats just not really going for what i in particular would want. i think you made your points on how it works for you really well. youre dead wrong about loki not being the supreme mcu series, tho. fight me
That makes sense, you should be looking at it for what it is, and not comparing it to dramatic long-form stories like Loki. Just a couple days ago, I saw someone comment that they were going to wait until someone edited together a supercut of only the action scenes in this show, rather than watch the show.
I’m glad you called out Critical Drinker, cause I used to watch his channel. To be clear, I saw his 1917 video and I think one of his endgame videos or something- so he was positive in those, so I subscribed and watched some other ones cause he can be kinda funny. I think he’s gotten worse though and fell down the “everything is woke” rabbit hole Those channels definitely hook people with some fair critiques, build up a report with their audiences then flip the switch into more hateful messages
I ndidnt know that she hulk was ment to be a sit-com type show. That really improves my biggest complaint, that the episodes dont feal like they belong together. But it brings up a new complaint. I personally like my sitcoms to have 3-5 main charaters that share A-C plots with each other. Of course there will be a main main character, but sometimes that mc gets sidelined and we follow one of the other. She hulk for now feels more like we are always following jen (makes sense) but that the other characters just dont get that much to do. i think its mostly a personal problem. In a normal sitcom you have like 20-50 ep a season, so giving every characters like 10-15 storys they are activly involved in feels like we see them alot. But in she hulk its 9 ep and it almost feels to me like we dont even see jen enough, so how can there be time for the other cool characters like Nikki or Pug. Also i dont know why, but this video made me remember how much i loved hawkeye, seeing kate and hawkeye goof around and mostly failing succesfully was really fun
i assume the run time is tied to the cgi budget, but yeah, an even more spread out approach with more episodes would definitely help with that criticism.
Can I just say I'm glad you've made this video! There are some people I watch who are real "lumpers" as in, they lump everyone into one basket. Whenever someone doesn't like something they like, or likes something they think is bad, they immediately jump to the worst example of them.
Loved your video, I actually didn't wanna watch she hulk because all of the bad reviews here on youtube, but now i'm happy that i gave it a try 'cause i really enjoyed it!
In my opinion most of the people who hate she hulk WANT to hate the show. I think it’s been really fun and I’ve enjoyed most of it. I don’t think it’s the best Disney plus show but it is far from the worst. Most of the comedy doesn’t really land for me but some of it gets me. Like the legal team of magicians
Well, your opinion is wrong. So, people who dislike it only could possibly feel that way because they just want to dislike it? I’m assuming you don’t think this the same on the flip side…as in, you and anyone else who likes it only likes it because you want to?
No the want quality, but have been better lack luster shows and movies. Whilst actors/directors been attacking fans for no reason. We just want quality. why would someone want a show to be boring and terrible. The shows at the bottom of all marvel shows. They need to start hiring people who actually enjoy the media they are making.
I just finished the series, and while it’s better than the critique, I think Jennifer never got called out of arrogance unlike what you predicted. She is similar to Carrie I feel, she has strengths and real struggles, but also flaws the narrative never adresses.
Its realising she needs to accept help and she isn't perfect. In the first episode Bruce tells her she'll need to understand to: Balance her Hulk and work life Understanding how her personal relationships will be changed by this And how she will need to become a superhero Throughout the show we see her struggling with all these things after dismissing Hulk to begin with. In the end of the show we see her rely on K.E.V.I.N to make her show better. Is that enough of an arc for you?
@@Shizzy5321no, it really really isn’t - she doesnt do anything heroic or ask anyone for help at the end… the 4th wall zany is great, but it was and to have negate the whole plot and wrap things up - so unsatisfying and negated any arc she might have
he compares Jens character to that of Tony Stark, Thor and even Doctor Strange but it never feels like she suffers anywhere near the same amount of consequences as they do. We directly see Stark nearly die from his weapons and progress in the cave, we see how Thor becomes worthy and how much he has to struggle to be the hero he is, we see strange accept that he can’t truly help himself without giving up his mind and become willing to die over and over again until dormamu gets bored and decides to leave. What do we really see with Jen? What is the great heroic thing that she does? I understand that the car accident changed her life but the damage feels so much smaller in comparison to the other characters because she seemingly is able to transform whenever she wants anyways. Jen to me is a likeable and realistic character, but just not interesting, especially compared to the other dudes this guy tried comparing her to. My main problem with the show is that it just feels unnecessary and shouldve been pushed to happen later but instead Marvel decided to overwork themselves and sacrifice the quality and writing of this show and other projects in the MCU. Now guess what. There will more than likely not even be a season two because of it. Now not even the people that enjoyed the show or liked her character win. it feels like everybody lost
Loved Tatiana's vibe ever since first episode same thing with Iman in Ms. Marvel. Ep. 7 so wholesome. I'd visit and chill at Emil's retreat area if it was real. Abomaste.
What about the complains about the writing ? I'm kind of disappointed you didn't address the REAL criticisms, the constructive one. No consequences for her action (or if there are they're almost immediately resolved)/ No character development aka if Jen is supposed to be an arrogant character, that's great because that gives her room to grown, but I haven't seen any changes in her from E1 to the finale/Most characters have no well character. There's nothing distinctive about the side characters beside physical appearance and names. Jen's best friend for example, who is she, how did she become friends with Jen ? Was she just her paralegal ? Did they meet in college ? We don't know them/ Why not hire a lawyer to consult for the legal part of the show which the writers have admit they don't know how to write. That seems a bit lazy./Why not follow the comics AT ALL ? It's the same characters in names but they're completely different. That's a bit disappointing since this is an adaptation As someone who didn't hate this show but also didn't like it, I'll admit these: Jen's family is fun (her dad is adorable), Jen has flaws, there is potential there, there have been a lot of unwarranted hate around this show BUT there's also been a lot of valid constructive criticism and most of it was not addressed in this video.

So many issues with this. One Wanda did it by accident by her own trauma and is pretty much the entire show telling you that. prolly bc the characters are bad, the plot is bad, and its unfunny

Finally. A video that is essentially a critique rather than outrage bait dogcrap! Thanks so much for this take! I'd love to see your full review :)
The comedy for me personally doesn't land most of the time and the shows seems pretty reliant on the comedy, it being a sitcom. But I've also just been getting burnt out on marvel recently
I don't hate it, but calling it better than moon knight???
If you're burned out on Marvel, then you could just... not watch Marvel stuff? I know it's advertised a lot but like, Mickey Mouse isn't strapping you to a chair and forcing you to watch Marvel content, or videos about Marvel content.

That was a spicy second half, and I am here for calling these jabronis out.
Yep, I'm team Nando on this one!
Someone has to do it!
I made it a rule a long time ago to treat anyone who calls something “woke” with a great deal of skepticism. Saves me a lot of headaches
The same people who use the word "woke" and think Walter White is a shining example of masculinity tends to be a perfect circle.
Yeah, like I’m sorry, there’s a LOT of criticism’s you could make about the MCU or Star Wars, but if the person making those arguments use “Woke” unironically as part of that argument, then in my mind the entire argument goes down the drain

I dislike those kind of reviewers who say something ridiculous as the M-She-U and post some awful thumbnail game, the irony is so clear
So you're telling me this show is not woke? Is it wilful ignorance or just slow mental capacity?
11:07 So hopeful. Wait till he finds out that even at the end of the series, the show still never gets to that point.
Anyone who says otherwise is A) not a woman and B) has never been bullied by someone stronger than them
idk what to say other than movie knuckles is cool and where is his series?
I agree, castrating people for following you in the parking lot is definitely not okay. You sound like the female equivalent of Patrick Bateman fans

@@uosdwiSrdewoH if it involves Disney or a woman lead he's gonna hate it off the hop til he's not given a choice to backtrack. If it's well received then he caves and says he likes it like HOTD.
Another thing I like is Maddyson and Wong. Their relationship is o fun just being a Sorcerer chillin with the party girl.
Mad props to calling out Critical Drinker. Bigots like him should be called out way more often. Also a little alarming he thought the dudes in ep1 were in the right. Great video and great show
Real, non-bot reply here because this comment deserves more attention. The drinker and his fan base are a bunch of obnoxious children. I’m ashamed to admit that I used to be apart of their nonsense, until I realized (far too late) that he has no interest in being objective, only to fuel that “anti-woke”mentality - which, for the record, gets a terrible rep because of these people.
And also, ion care what anyone says, she hulk is not THE best show. Moon knight and wandavision were both better

Really appreciate you calling out Critical Drinker. He is definitely a JaBronie

@@raimiallpowerful2020 He is not "Trashing" he is actually giving actual constructive criticism if you watch the video at all, and btw critical drinker is far from an actually critic
@@luckymark571 kind of. If he broke down more points sure but he picked one small one. Broke it down, while not playing the actual clip, you see delivery of a sentence can change everything. Thank you for your take, even if I disagree with a lot of it. Ignoring any messaging concerns, the show just seems very poorly written a lot of the time. Jen comes across as a narcissist, but I'm not seeing any payoff or growth coming to develop and make the character more sympathetic.
Fr thats my whole problem. Jenn being unlikable and bad writing
(Where I still can see Mark in Hulk)
2: Like mentioned, I definitely think she could have been "beefed" up a little bit.
I mean they can't really do that anymore either since as smart hulk he isn't nearly as strong. hulks strength is tied to his anger and now he isn't angry at all
He won't be cool on screen again unless they get the rights to do a solo movie again. If that day comes, we're gonna get World Breaker Hulk.
It's like when someone with did integrates their personality to be whole.
My favorite categories of media:
Legal shows
Super Hero
Sitcoms (Especially this to the point of obsession)
And I really feel she hulk failed at all 3 spectacularly
Thanks Nando, its nice to see a video highlighting some of the more positive aspects of this show for once 👍
There is not one positive aspect of this show.
@Nortius Maximus 😅i feel like at that point i just wanted a show to enjoy
@lastrolo "The entire show was done in bad faith, anyone that disliked it was an incel"
It provoked the right people, the ones who weren't real MCU fans to start with.

It barely cracks mediocre for me. i'm not huge on she-hulk, i think its been pretty middle of the road for the mcu shows so far, but you made some really compelling points. it doesnt seem to have any huge goals as a series, and i thought that was due to a lack of ambition and execution. but a lot of mcu content fails because it cant handle the basics of story telling, and theres nothing wrong with an in universe take on a normal sitcom.
maybe its not as much a mediocre show than a show thats just not really going for what i in particular would want. i think you made your points on how it works for you really well.
youre dead wrong about loki not being the supreme mcu series, tho. fight me
That makes sense, you should be looking at it for what it is, and not comparing it to dramatic long-form stories like Loki. Just a couple days ago, I saw someone comment that they were going to wait until someone edited together a supercut of only the action scenes in this show, rather than watch the show.

THANK YOU! I’ve been really enjoying She Hulk so I’m happy to have someone just make a positive video about it for once.
Makes sense when the main character is shown more than side/background characters in only a couple episodes
Can I just say I'm glad you've made this video! There are some people I watch who are real "lumpers" as in, they lump everyone into one basket. Whenever someone doesn't like something they like, or likes something they think is bad, they immediately jump to the worst example of them.

What’s her character arc
Its realising she needs to accept help and she isn't perfect. In the first episode Bruce tells her she'll need to understand to:
Balance her Hulk and work life
Understanding how her personal relationships will be changed by this
And how she will need to become a superhero
Throughout the show we see her struggling with all these things after dismissing Hulk to begin with.
I see this show as a sitcom with all the world building we wanted from marvel
That's a bit disappointing since this is an adaptation
As someone who didn't hate this show but also didn't like it, I'll admit these: Jen's family is fun (her dad is adorable), Jen has flaws, there is potential there, there have been a lot of unwarranted hate around this show BUT there's also been a lot of valid constructive criticism and most of it was not addressed in this video.
But he couldn't that why he didn't.
They actually had a real lawyer on the show. He played a failed Tinder date.
@@ngultrum1 I mean he played a role but was he consulted when they were writing the show ?
@@shanouboubou
He wasn't, which is exactly the point.
9:05 actually there's one scene in Hawkeye where Yelena mentions the New Statue of Liberty to Kate.
and the whole show is both Midquel and Sequel for The Avengers and all the projects after that movie.
"They use legitimate criticism to launder all this woke nonsense."
Could not have phrased that any better. Spot on.
