After 100+ hours in game I've come to the conclusion that a bus is overkill and not needed. I have 2 sets of smelters going into 2 storages. I then pull my 240/m (crushed prior to smelting) on a yellow belt and pull off of it to each thing needed until it's used, then I pull from the 2nd line. This alone will get you to yellow science or beyond. And if you don't waste resources by automating crap you don't need to, you can actually get to yellow science before/at the time you run out of starter resource patches.

You know at first having a bus system was a great idea and felt somewhat needed but like yourself with 100+ hours in I agree with you it’s not entirely needed, personally I like the look of a bus system but yeah a lot of the resources made aren’t needed.
A small bus system with the more used products to keep things tidy for personal preference more than anything is viable

I've been making my own bus, I'm at lev2 research atm, only it seems we have to make around 6 to 8 receipes to get to the next level. Would you say this setup is to big for the second level? I think after this, lev3 research, all will change... concrete, pipes, plates and rods tier 2... and so perhaps you see another floor above this one for that?

Yeah it’s personal preference you could keep going wider but my plan is add a level for each tier, but we will see how that goes and works 😂

Haven't seen the whole vid yet but boy what a setup this is going to be.
Very nice work on the miners and smelters btw, almost art!👍🥇

Fingers crossed 🤞 I do try to keep it looking clean and satisfying 👍

Sim o modo criativo é sempre bom pra fazer tutorial assim não precisa jogar pra produzir as coisas pra mostrar no vídeo.

4:47 Why are you like this? Are separate belts an artistic choice? Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful, but that's too avant-garde for me. In the early game I preferred 3 miners to 8 smelters on a single belt. It's always better to over-mine resources than undermine productivity. XD
16:13 Did you know that loaders don't have any throughput limit in this game? You'll get the exact same result with 2 as with 4. Your only limit is your max belt speed and how fast you consume these resources down the line. Multiple outputs per resource are only useful in what we have for a late game right now when you output on multiple belts from storage.
17:50 I wouldn't recommend this approach at all. It works terribly with 2-block wide slopes. Any kind of wave pattern on a bus turns into a nightmare when you need to split things off the bus. Personally, I'd recommend to always keep at least 1 empty line between every line on the bus even if they are the same resource. I prefer to stack lines with the same resources on top of each other, but that's my personal preference and these stacked belts turn into a fence that gets in the way, so probably not my brightest idea. They are very convenient to bring down and connect into line below, though, so you only ever split from that one line at the bottom.
19:04 Observation: Wires are useless on the bus. You can only ever use them for Electronic Components. There are electric wires too, but you never need too many and hand-crafring them on-demand from rods is faster than going to pick them from the storage. Especially when you are really far away from it. So, eventually I removed them from the bus entirely and fed them directly into assemblers crafting Electronic Components. Another reason to never bring them on the bus is their quantity. At some point you'll need a full belt of ECs and wires on the bus will become a bottleneck.
23:18 I made this mistake and still suffer from it. Do not place anything right in front of the control panel. You'll get back at some point and try to check the rates and with stuff in a way that won't be a nice experience.
29:08 Good sir, we have a giant auto-generated map. We have plenty of space to spare. Especially along the bus. Any attempts to make it compact will return and bite you in the posterior hours later. You may try, but the spaghetti will only turn more entangled over time and you build a bus exactly to avoid this mess.

Wow thank you for such an in-depth comment with lots of useful information 😁, I very quickly realised you don’t need wires in the bus, and with the single belts it was just for aesthetics was going for a ‘busier than it looks’ I like to try different looks that sometimes aren’t the most efficient admittedly. I already realise I will be doing several playthroughs of this for my “perfect” factory if there ever will be one haha

Hi, like another RUclipsr I follow I can see your playlist status is probably 'show last one on top' or something. The sequence is not correct atm. Cheers!

I'd love to cut up my comments, around 34:00 you were looking at your powersituation, but it looked fine. How did you know that could be the case, or did you somehow know that most of the machines were stopped....

    • @Krypt0nite
      @Krypt0nite  3 месяца назад +1

I did notice that most of the machines when they were required to operate were strained, the energy grid can be a little miss leading so each burner makes 1.8MW max, no when I check the grid my usage was only 1.2. Here’s where it gets misleading ……. It was only using 1.2 because all my lines and storage where full so most machines where on standby but when they start producing again the requested power is higher, so I know that adding more things that require power will put it under strain when everything is in operation, hope that helps and makes sense?
