Wish we got one more month with it to properly finish it, so we could have the cut level out and a proper testing period lasting more than a single week. Maybe even make everything mesh better as well. But deadlines are deadlines. Still consider it an unfinished campaign. But glad to see a somewhat positive video about it!
@@seriouslyquestionable It was that "temple" at the end of the swamp level, with the generators. Was originally meant to be a full level with a lot of crazy gravity parts, but it wasnt finished in time, so I whipped up the generator part a day before release. It's also why it is the most unbalanced part of the campaign, it was never really tested.
@@pura8898 That can also apply for the Temple area on that swamp level. For some reason, and it's probably on me, but again, for some reason, if there's a War track on that Swamp Temple, The Last Hope's third Arcadia track suits well.
You're one of the creators so this may be my only chance to ask this, so... 10:12 Please tell me how the HELL are you supposed to beat this arena on Serious without either savescumming or hiding behind the teleporters? I tried it for weeks. Memorized like every spawn, got the most optimal strategy down and it's still absolutely impossible, even with two serious bombs. I couldn't find a single playthrough where the players don't hide behind the gates. It just feels impossible and unbalanced. This is where I gave up, not wanting to resort to what I would consider cheating. 6:27 This fight after you get the ghostbuster gun gives off the same kinda feel but at least that one is much shorter, though it still feels mostly luck based as the area is way too small with way too many enemies to keep things under control. You're just spraying and praying. It sucks that there are moments like that which ruin the overall experience because there are legitimately great fights in this campaign. One of my favorites being the one at the beach level where you fend off like a thousand kleer skeletons, even though it kinda copies a section from BFE's final level.
I definitely think Bright Island is a very overlooked part of the series. It's not fantastic or anything, but it has some memorable visuals, solid gunplay and it's clear that a lot of thought was put into it. It's worth a playthrough for any Serious Sam fan at least.
6:37 When playing for the 1st time I missed most of the pills but in the end I realized you can just hop down from the platform that takes you to the regular exit as it's located directly above the secret exit. So that whole collecting pills thing is absolutely pointless. You can still just as easily go to the secret level. P.S. Bro, if you want something weird/funny and cool as hell - check out Rusutaku Assault, it's a HUGE single map for TSE made by a crazy japanese Serious Sam fan. Its super diverse and creative and will legitimately surprise you at least like 10-15 times I guarantee. It would make for a funny review as well. At least give it a shot. It starts of kinda meh but quickly picks up and never lets go. It's got that distinct "japanese" feel to it, when everything is a little crazy. Haven't seen anything like it, can't recommend it enough. It deserves more exposure.

I have some feedback though, if you don't mind: I would suggest turning down the music volume so your voice pops out more. Only turn it up when you're not talking and want to show a particular gameplay clip. It does require more work to fade in and fade out parts of the audio, but it creates a more enjoyable viewing experience.
I have played Bright Island several times and I can say I enjoyed the Crystal Cove and The Steps of Despair the most and the worst part is Forlorn Ruins. Not the best campaign, but still at least decent nonetheless.
Crystal cove is the best map in Bright Island(and the most balanced) Step of despair seems too easy for me(since we have cannon-well except the lava bosses) but it is also good Forlorn ruins is not great(trees section and the last fight are the worst part) but other part are done well Tbh I prefer easy fight and balanced than hard fight that is unbalanced
Finally someone says that Dark Island is worse than Bright Island Dark Island is just so booring Bright Island is at least fun(not balanced on serious diff but doable) Every single level on Dark island I dislike On Bright Island I dislike Sunken Pyramid since 80% spawns are bs and I dont like the Final boss and that is it Bright Island is good campaign just unfinished

what difficulty did you play Bright Island on? can't be Serious. the campagin is notorious for being nigh impossible to complete without cheats or exploits when playing on the highest difficulties because so many enemies spawn near you it's impossible to kill them before you die
That boat in Dark Island, it's actually an unused entity from Serious Sam 1. It was supposed to be used on Pyramid Valley from the Alpha. It even has the same model from Alpha, but reskinned. As for the Plasmathrower and Minelayer, they are actually not scrapped weapons, but are used on Seriously Warped Deathmatch.
