I so loved the seeing them in concert in the 80’s and 90’s when people enjoy the shows with their eyes and not their phones. Put the damn phones down!!!!
And had lighters instead of phones.
And how do you know they don't enjoy the show? Dude, respect what this generation does! You had yours with what it implied and no one reproached you for anything, right?
As a gen-x-er, I partially agree…I saw them pre cell phones and yes, people were more engaged, but also crazy and borderline incriminating. Don’t get me wrong, it was a blast for that time in my life. Fast forward to taking my kids to the Pittsburgh show in ‘22, i was weirdly relieved that the crowd was excited, and sang along, but also subdued due to the phones. But I was also thankful that I could soak in the show in real time because I knew there’d be 100 RUclips vids uploaded!

If you happen to have it, I would love to see a video of the first show from this concert (the James-had-Covid-shortened set from 9/1/23). I was at that first show but could not make it to this rescheduled show, so it's awesome to be able to see the one I missed. That being said, I'd love to have the show I attended for posterity. Denver 1997 Summer Sanitarium Tour - it was to be the last tour for Jason Newsted who later quit in 2001. This was the first metal concert at my young age of 23 years old. This tour was insane, had the likes of Powerman 5000, System of a Down, and a young and up and coming band call Korn - who was the opening act for Metallica. Fast forward to this day, and in fact today I was listening to 72 seasons Album.

It is different, yes.And, Like their use of dynamics way back, change-ups that reinvigorate our joy for their established songs. Plus, it usually(or, always?) pays tribute to music from an area/region, and gives fan even more of a connection to these guys-who take time to prepare these “tasty treats”, so to say.
A few minutes of different thrown in is pretty cool. And, Metal! Not heavy metal music, but attitude, right!?!

My first rock concert ever was metallica back in 1998 in nashville tn. Man they rocked. It was an outdoor stadium, with all the good seats and stage was covered. The rest of it was wide open.People in the back sat on the grass. It came an absolute monsoon of rain that day, and people were mud sliding down the hills on there blankets 😂. Ill never forget that

Excellent editing on this! Love it! I can't stand when an artist puts out a concert film with lightning fast editing, changing shots every second because it's supposed to heighten the energy level, or some nonsense. NO, around 5 to 7 seconds for each shot -like you did here- gives time to actually take it in, especially the wide shots. It's more immersive. And man it looks fkn awesome on a big tv lol;
Their shows are pretty much just spectacles now, since they’re playing only stadiums and festivals. Each indistinguishable from the next.

Metallica sure have 100% rock solid supporters - and James makes sure EVERY show remains 'politics free' [Hammett, the limo leftist planted his President Trump hatred years ago - pissing on over half of the bands US following - yet remains silent as Biden's open border policies have gutted millions of hard working Americans who if they're lucky can actually afford a ticket] - James makes sure at EVERY show to keep it ALL about the music, and the "Metallica family". One of the key reasons fans love Metallica. Music is a uniting force.

Look at that terrible audience. I was at my 8th Metallica concert in Hamburg last year and it was the first time that the band didn't give an encore. I can't blame them though. Even in the "moshpit", people stood on the spot, raised their arms from time to time and otherwise filmed with their smartphones. No pogoing, no headbanging. Disgusting. When I sang along loudly and played air guitar, I was looked at like an alien. When Enter Sandmann was played, a 20-year-old said to his girlfriend: "hey, I know that one, let's make a selfie video". I wouldn't want to play in front of such a disgusting audience any longer than necessary and would just take the money out of their pockets and leave. I was ashamed to have been part of that audience. Apart from me, only a handful of people called for an encore and the band did the only right thing and simply left the stage. In the 90s, I came home from a Metallica concert all sweaty and with a bloody forehead. Just as it should be.
As far as i know, they don't do any encores during the "2 shows in 1 city with no repeats" tour. They already play 30 different songs in the same city. And i don't think that Metallica thinks that negatively about their audience as you do. Imagine being in your 60s and selling out arenas twice in each city. They seem pretty humble about it.

These guys are +60 years old. And can still play. Led Zeppelin At 35 were completely shot. Just search Knebworth Aug 11 1979.
James Hetfield is 61. I saw Robert Plant at the Miami Ampitheater in 2010 when he was 61 and he was still cranking. At 75, he is still performing with Saving Grace even today.
Plant had no business singing in that register anyway. Never can keep that up long. I honestly prefer his older voice where he doesn't even try to get the screamy notes🤷♂️

Yes the risers have a turntable built into them. So after each song he/they were rotated 90 degrees

the bands stage design seems spaced out. very near the crowd but away from each other. lars has his central drum kit in the middle. both kirk, james and rob are performing on thier own stages
i know they are getting on but it seems like rob cant play anynore or something. but the one thing i notice is distance between them all. no band interaction

I was very excited to know that it was going to be a circle, I had in mind that it had to be something comfortable for them but I never imagined that it would be the size of the Quidditch arena.

Man these guys need to practice. They don't take anything seriously enough because they know people will still buy tickets anyway.
But what do you want more in 60 years from seniors? That they will make a backflip on stage in front of you? It's so understandable that they won't play like in 90's :D They don't have that much energy anymore, but they still can play their songs with some modifications which is intended for a concert.

@@Jackfleet091 Not really. Mostly just jamming around for an hour before stage time. It's not like they're worried about playing tight. Compare them to Testament or Death Angel. Same music, same age, but the others are well-oiled machines.
