How fun! Love those covers! My best friend and I would read these by the score during summer vacation in the late 60s and early 70s. The library had them in twirl around racks near the front door. Every day, it would be horseback ride, pool, lunch, then library! Seems like many a "Jane Eyre" copy, but we devoured every one! I especially loved the ones that had ghosts!
I totally understand when you say none of your friends are interested in Vintage Gothic Romance. I know all too well. I really enjoyed your video because I love these Vintage Gothic Romance books. Thanks for sharing.
my dad used to read a lot of them and I think they are underrated and could be gothic romance movies , cuz there are so many old paperbacks of that genre and people do love them.

I feel like most of these covers have a common theme of thin women running away from houses or castles. Lol
Hahaha! True! Women in peril!
I love the strong teal colors that many of them have.
My mother had a lot of these. I remember seeing so many of them as a child.

Nice collection and you're right they can be very expensive online!
i just read the minerva stone this week. i am on a mission to collect all of Anne Maybury's books.
I’m fascinated by these books and this very specific trend/motif. I don’t know if I’d ever actually read one though.
You only need to read one to get the general idea :D
@@adriang913It’s mostly because my TBR stacks are in the hundreds now. I want to avoid getting hooked on something new.

Love these covers too... Although I've only read 4 or 5 in my lifetime, I enjoyed all of them... Good, rainy day reads :)
Me! I came across a cover yesterday “the girl with no name” and now I’m hyper fixated on Gothic Romance covers…
That yellow gown is NOT a night gown. It's an evening gown, and looks pretty 70s to me.
What is your favorite (to read)?
