    Well the canondale trail 2019-2020 is more comparable to the trail SL, actually the frame is virtually the same, quality geometry weight ... But there is one important difference between the old trail and the new trail SE / SL , the latest has thru axle on the rear weel (the boost spacing of the hub itself is the same , as the boost qr141 of old trail is the same spacing as thruaxle 148. Stifness itself is the same). That is an advantage when you have to replace the tire on the go, as with qr hubs the disk brake doesnt coincide exactly when u put the wheel back, while with thruaxle is just flawless. Nothing major I guess, whats ur opinion ?

      For me I don’t have a roof rack or hatch rack for my bike so the thru axle is a massive game changer for me as I need to take both wheels off to get the bike in my car, saves me a lot of time. So if your packing your bike in a compact car would definitely advise getting a bike with rear thru axles

    Just ordered one. Kinda concerned about top speed with only 1X up front. Im coming from a 21 speed 26 inch. Although I rarely use the highest gear. I do alot of flat riding.

      Could definitely look to have the first upgrade be the chain ring. I would do some riding for a month or so before doing that to see what size makes the most sense for you based off were you ride! I think 36t is the max you can fit on this bike. Let me know how things end up going

      Mine is a 2021..I use mine to go everywhere and have no issues at all with it.

    Personally id go for the coil fork spec'd one and upgrade later 🚵‍♂️ thats just me tho

      Get to keep the cranks with the 1x10 versus if you got the 2\10 spec you’d have to upgrade cranks also

    How does this compare to a giant talon 1

      Very similar! Major difference is that talon 1 gives you that air fork in hand with the 1x drive train where as you’d have to sacrifice 1 making a choice between the SE and regular trail 4. Not to mention that the talon is able to give you that without a significant price increase, nearly the same price as the trail 4. I believe part of the reason for this is with their proprietary forks, they are able to cut cost down. If you can find the availability for a talon 1 I think that would be the move over the trail 4!
