Somewhere in the early to mid nineties Rene did a clinic at our local music store which I attended. He played this tune that evening and I was instantly blown away by his finesse, touch and feel. I had never seen anyone before tuning the toms with a stick while playing. The whole song is composed so smart around that feature, it's really a joy to listen to. Until this day one of my favorite drum performances. After the show he was available for conversation. Very nice and humble guy. We talked a bit about Arnhem and what it takes to go there to study drums. I remember being sad later on that I couldn't raise the money.

Rene is an undiscovered diamond - together with Chad Wackerman he´s one of the most musical drummers and should be well known to every musician.
Deze vid heb ik toen persoonlijk van René gekocht, tijdens een clinic in de Prinsenstraat in Den Haag. Hij blijft een van mijn favoriete drummers.
So underrated
beautiful!!!
Wow! Real music .... Musical
I've only seen him playing solos. now i know why.... he feels compelled to play the melody along with the drum part 😅
een hele stoere solo!!
