Henry Cavill now would be a good fit as James Bond; he was certainly more convincing as Napoleon Solo than Superman. Benedict Cumberbatch is also a good candidate. At least Sean Bean got to be 006, & Ralph Fiennes is currently M.
The producers were right: Henry Cavill would be way too young. I would've wanted to see Cavill take on Bond now that he's older but he's already Napoleon Solo and he's good in that already. Bonus is that Solo was created by Ian Fleming.
Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale both would’ve been good as Bond. But I’m glad they didn’t do it because they’ve already played iconic characters. Bale played Batman and Jackman played Wolverine
I disagree, very strongly. His roles as Starks in GOT and in Equilibrum are my favourites of all time. Of course, I don't like that his characters died in both movies.
Actually, both of them will be flawless as 007 in my opinion. They both have the physique, brilliant diction, and sheer commanding presence, not to mention their powerful acting talents.
Sean Bean was one I always wanted. I think he's kind of an underrated actor in general and that he deserves more lead roles than he gets. Plus it would be cool for him to be known for something other than dying in everything.
James Brolin should've made the list. He gave screen tests and was basically gonna be the new Bond, before Moore re-signed at the last minute b/c the producers wanted to compete with Never Say Never Again
It's odd they didn't come back to him for "The Living Daylights" after Albert Broccoli dropped Brosnan due to "Remington Steele" being renewed by NBC. Then again, the first choice *HAD* been Timothy Dalton and he'd only been ineligable due to other filming obligations that were cleared up by the time he was sought out again.
I like that some of the actors on this list still made it into the 007 franchise, even if they weren't playing the titular protagonist. Ex/ Sean Bean playing Agent 006 Alec Trevelyan, and Ralph Fiennes's Mallory taking over as M, after the death of Dame Judy Dench's character.
you left out a great piece of trivia from Clive Owen -- In the opening scene from "Shoot 'Em Up", he lifts a Walther PPK (Bond's signature sidearm) off of a bad guy, but it quickly jams and he throws it away muttering "What a piece of crap!"
Isn’t it part of Alfred’s backstory that he was in the British special forces or something? Christopher Nolan could have dropped Bond Easter eggs in the dark knight trilogy
Now that Hawaii Five-0 ended, Alex O'Loughlin can play either Bond or Felix. Why he should play Bond: I've heard a rumor that he was another selection to play Bond. Why he should play Felix: Jack Lord, the late actor who played Steve in the original Five-O series, had a one-time appearance in the first Bond movie as Felix, way before the original Five-O series even existed.
Alex as Felix Leiter would be fine. As well, it would be a come-full-circle casting; Jack Lord of the original _Hawaii Five O_ portrayed the first Felix on Dr No.
Just my observation and imho, the only reason why Liam Neeson re-started his acting career (by doing action films) was when after his wife died from injuries sustained in a skiing accident. No one can't fault a man in doing so in helping himself get out out of depression and process his grief. Which also reminds me, I remember a former acquaintance of mine from my college years who joked about Mr. Neeson's wife's death (when the news broke out) who snickered with a snorting sound, "Hey, ladies, Liam Neeson's single again!" He immediately got called out for being a shamelessly insensitive asshole by a fellow female acquaintance.
It is without doubt that Idris Elba would be the best candidate for Bond right now. The other candidates would be Tom Hiddlestone, Tom Hardy (granted that Christopher Nolan is director) and Richard Madden.
The fact that Cary Grant could have been James Bond, the role fit him like a glove,he have that elegant, attractive and masculine look, I would have loved to see him, definitely the best James Bond that never was.Although I'm not complaining at all because even though we didn't have Grant we had Connery who did it perfect. The same with Cavill only that instead of being old he was very young for the role but again I am not complaining because we had Craig who did it phenomenal. It must be really difficult to have two actors so perfect for the role and having to choose one must be a lot of pressure and stress involved. Clint Eastwood,Burt Reynolds,Hugh Jackman and Liam Neeson I am also sure that they would have been a magnificent Bond.

Henry Cavill's got some years on him now, _Mission: Impossible - Fallout_ shows he has the action hero (villain) chops. He's got some time on his hands. Give him the keys to the Aston Martin.

I think he would be a better villain to Ralph Fiennes Bond. 🤔I think I’ll like either way
Neeson ended up being an "action star" even after declining on the 007 role, which he did out of deep deference to his then-fiancee.
Clive Owen could play a villain in a Bond movie same goes with Liam Neeson. I cannot really see both playing the 007 character. I really can’t.
I agree! I also feel like that about Dominic West & Ralph Fiennes. I forgot Sean Bean did play one
