its why they added the woman to the plot to test the waters and get more female audience, idf it works they might go with a female on future films they already used Judi Dench as M and that worked
There have been 10 Bond Actors, (Peter Sellers was also James Bond in 1967's Casino Royal, alongside David Niven). If a woman or person of colour plays the part then it will no longer work or be Bond. Of the people listed, Henry Cavil is the obvious choice.
The actors they chose were good but if they go with a woman or man “of color” not only will they be going against the original idea & books of Ian Fleming they’ll destroy the franchise & it be just like everything else..
Absolutely! I agree. Sadly, today's film makers aren't interested in an author's original intent or content. To them, a movie is a vehicle for woke politics preaching as evidenced by No Time To Die.
I don’t care what colour Bond is. If it was 2011 and not 2021, I’d go with Idris Elba hands down. He can be both tough, suave and he’s an excellent actor, like Daniel Craig. We need fewer models in suits like Brosnan and more actors who can, well, act, not 13 year old boys with catchphrases. I enjoyed Goldeneye, but I was also 13 at the time it was released, so there you go. Henry Cavill seems more like a lame Brosnan type, but he could surprise me. Maybe a Welsh Bond? The last time we had one, it was bad-ass.
The next Bond should be in his early 30’s and if they release a movie every two years like before the new Bond should be good for about 10 films. As a Bond fan since 1962 my choice for the next 007 would be Tom Hiddleston.
That's what I felt, although that feeling's waned since I thought about how different The Night Manager, which he was perfect for, is from Bond. A le Carré-type character would be a better pick for him imo.
Unfortunately, the way movies are made today, putting out a Bond movie every 2 years is just a logistical impossibility. During the Roger Moore era they were able to do that, but if you look at the time gaps in more recent times, its closer to 3-4 years to get one out (not counting Covid issues). Getting a 30-something actor (or even early 40's actor who looks younger than 40) definitely works as far as squeezing out enough Bond films before they get too old.
@@michellewall6748 I agree Michelle. Also Hiddleston, as fine an actor as he is, he has a small build to him. Bond needs to be a little more buff, particularly since Daniel Craig raised the bar on how physically fit Bond should look. That's why I think Henry Cavill is the way to go. Many argue that we need a new unknown actor to play Bond but Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan both stepped into the role at a point in their careers where they were already well know for playing other established characters. Moore had been in The Saint and Brosnan had been in Remington Steele.
had dalton accepted the role in '79 he would have been considered one of the greatest of all time..so sad that he declined cavill should become the nest one
I agree with the choices they made, because som eof the actors were just simply nto the cut. Some, a few of those, who either declined or were rejected could have played the role, but not many. For me, Irish Pierce Brosnan was the best, not Connery although I agree he is superb.
The core of Bond is that he is, in theory, a secret agent. For that reason I would not necessarily go for a well established actor. I would want someone not too well known. In my view that was one of the things that made Connery successful. That and a shed load of screen presence.
Every generation has had a James Bond My fathers era it was Sean Connery My era it was Roger Moore As an older adult I have to say that the best James Bond so far has been Daniel Craig. The next person in line has got really BIG shoes to fill. And I mean really big.
My alternatives •1962-1962 Sean Connery (hard to find a Connery alternative, maybe Stanley Baker or Patrick McGoohan) •1969-1971 Terence Stamp •1973-1981 Michael Billington •1983-1989 Lewis Collins •1995-2002 Sean Bean •2006-2019 Sam Worthington
Michael Fassbender ..., “he’s ruled himself out” .... four ‘big’ bets have been placed on him, having been 16/1, now he’s 8/13 . One of which coming from an Eon employee. The writing truly is on the wall. Great choice, can’t wait.
@@spaceodds1985 It’s all smoke and mirrors, he’s denied interest, said he’s too old, said it should be a black or a woman, ... all the usual tosh. I’m hoping it’s him, he’s more class in his little finger than the rest of the field put together, fingers crossed.
As far as Bond being a different race than the past that's all good. Idris is one of my favorite actors. But the character of Bond becoming a woman? Why don't they simply make up a new female spy hero? If Bond becomes a woman my trips to the theater to see the latest Bond movie will end.
While Casino Royale was touted as an "Origin" story, I wouldn't mind seeing a TRUE Origin story. Cast a 28ish Actor, open the film with Bond still a Commander in the Royal Navy. Show how he is recruited by MI6, his Training to be an Agent and then His "First" mission. Perhaps even do it as a Period Piece and set it in the 60s. Portray Bond as He is described by Fleming in his books. Do some True Espionage stories, light on Gadgets, no Over the Top Villains. Bond is a Mans Man who sees Women as disposable playthings, Drinks and Smokes to excess because He doesn't enjoy Killing, but is still Good at it. You see where I'm going.
Pierce Brosnan should have been allowed to portray James Bond in his Remington Steele days, but the powers that be wouldn’t release him for the films. I’m not a fan of Daniel Craig as James Bond….I think Clive Owen would’ve been much better! For Daniel Craig’s replacement I think Douglas Booth would be interesting after seeing him portray as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and Titus Abrasax in Jupiter Ascending. He definitely is a handsome young man with that suave air, who could say,” Bond, James Bond”.very nicely! If they choose a man of color, Idris Elba would be a good fit as well, but I think he might be too old now( he’s 49 to Craig’s 53) Putting a woman in the role would be refreshing to say the least Charlize Theron would be good in the physical part of the franchise after seeing her moves in Aeon Flux! Alice Vikander wouldn’t work for several reasons 1) her version of Lara Croft wasn’t a decent portrayal of that iconic adventurer 2) She’s Swedish- not part of the Commonwealth 3) I don’t think she could physically take out someone as Ms. Bond would be required as we well know- she’s only 5’5”. Natalie Dormer, Lena Headey, as well as Jude Law and Henry Cavill should be given a screen test for the next film. I think they all would be great!
Clive Owen would've made a superior Bond. Daniel Craig got rave reviews for Casino Royale, but it was mostly because of the writing (along with his physical appeal to female audience members). His interpretation of Bond came off as self-absorbed and sullen.
There were rumors about Regé-Jean Page being the next James Bond. I think he would be a awesome 007. He would reach the same level as Sean Connery, the ultimate Bond ever!
The franchise teetered on the verge before Danial Craig took over.....again with the pandemic it teeters with its ‘woke’ approach. A black actor will finish bond....Idris Alba is good at what he does...but he is no bond. Female bond is a ridiculously stupid idea...again it will finish the franchise. Instead of fitting women into traditional male roles, they should write roles for women. Look at Sigourney Weaver in the Alien Franchise.....a brilliant female icon that worked beyond belief. Henry Cavell gets my vote....the others mentioned don’t have the acting experience or the ‘tough’ spy look.....Tom Hardy is too ‘Oliver Reed’ (who was a truly great actor). I’d like to see Dan Stevens here....he was great in ‘the Guest’....and would make a very good bond. English, fine actor, good looking, and a good pedigree of acting.....

I think most of the Bond actors was the right choice at the time. I don't think that George Lazenby's acting ability was good enough to play James Bond. Diana Rigg really saved the movie. If the haven't cast George Lazenby maybe they would haven't chosen Diana Rigg for Tracy, so maybe it's a good thing that the when with Lazenby after all.

My last comment wasn’t meant to be rude or offensive. Was just clarifying the correct information. Overall I enjoyed your video and liked learning of the many possibilities that could’ve happened. I liked the video, thumbs up.
I think Patrick McGoohan would have been good as James Bond after seeing him as John Drake in Danger Man, Richard Burton is just a great actor all together. I think hands down Henry Cavill should be the next James Bond.
If the franchise wanted to take a darker path, Oliver Reed would of played a great Bond. I've always seen James Bond similar to Dr. Who in terms of change of actor playing potentially the same character. But who knows, Bond may be a Timelord. 🤔
Ian Ogilvy didn't attempt to get the role. He had recently played the Saint, and like Roger Moore before him, considered a good fit for Bond based on his performance as Simon Templar. He was later told by someone close to the producers that if they wanted another Roger Moore type, they would have chosen him, but they were after another Connery. Andrew Clarke went on to play the Saint in a one-off TV pilot known as The Saint in Manhattan.
I am surprised that Stephen Boyd wasn't approached for the role, he would have been great especially following Sean Connery. Many of the names of famous actors mentioned were too old . My other choice would have been Stanley Baker.
Destiny of three of the actors once considered to play James Bond: Burt Reynolds - The Bandit in Smokey and The Bandkt Clint Eastwood - The Man With No Name Adam West - 1966 Batman TV series
Most of these guys who were either considered, or turned down the role, I've never even heard of. Then again, I'd never heard of George Lazenby, when he was selected. So... Who knows? And, Count Me In with those who think that 007 should never be played by a woman!
Rumor has it that a Black Female will be the new Bond. Forget it, will not get a penny of my money. Craig, in my opinion, is the best Bond second was Connery. I like the rougher image that Craig takes on. I will NOT submit to this WOKE attitude and accept the female Bond. NOPE!!!! AND I will not submit to White Privilege and feel guilty for wanting Bond to continue being a White Male. Stop with this insanity already.
I think Sam Heughan would be the best choice to follow Daniel Craig. Craig's Bond was vigorous and energetic, but also intense and brooding. The next James Bond needs to have the same physical prowess that Craig had, but with a more easygoing attitude. Sam Heughan would play Bond with just the right amount of suave, physical power, and light-heartedness.
A number of the actors considered for the role of James Bond would have been all wrong for the role including Richard Burton, Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds, James Mason, and Rex Harrison. Of course, Daniel Craig is also all wrong for the role, not just because he doesn't have jet black hair which Bond is supposed to have, but also because facially he doesn't look anything like what Bond should look like!
@@FactsVerse . I'm just imagining Clint Eastwood hissing "Bond...James Bond". I don't thing Burt Reynolds could actually be taken seriously. There were a number of potential James Bonds who would have been credible and made their mark in the role. But the Actors who DID get the role of James Bond were the right choice. @@wiseguymaybe That's right however David Niven was Bond in that movie. He played an older Bond who is asked to come out of retirement.
Christian bale said the films were to British 😂😂, The films are about the British secret service
I think Bale's a great actor but he's got a few screws loose so that comment didn't really surprise me.
The best Bonds? Connery, Moore, and Brosnon.
Craig, Brosnon, Moore
Connery and Dalton! Read Fleming's Novels.
Craig, Dalton, Connery
Three non-English actors have played James Bond - Pierce Brosnan from Ireland, George Lazenby from Australia and of course Sean Connery from Scotland.
Timothy Dalton is Welsh.
British
The worst James bond played by the Australian and two British as the point is James bond should just be played by a white British man

My first time on here i loved it this was well done and your voice was worth listening to as well keep up the excellent work
Thanks for watching!
No Female Actors should play the part on being James Bond.
If a female actor got the part it would be " Jamie Bond".
I agree!
Nah...... doesn’t have that edge to him...Excellent actor though
Sean Connery and Roger Moore are my two favorites.
Thanks for watching!
Add Brosnan and we're all agreed😁
Ian Ogilvy should have chosen to be James Bond.
Connery Moore and Brosnan never failed me but also I would loved to have seen James Brolin as Bond.
Watch him in, "The Car".
I was surprised he never got better roles but in the 70s there wasn't any action roles at the time .
But Brosnan looks a bit like Brolin. So....
had dalton accepted the role in '79 he would have been considered one of the greatest of all time..so sad that he declined
cavill should become the nest one
YORE WRONG .....IN 69 WHEN HE WAS 22 AND HIS FIRST FILM WOULD HAVE BEEN WITH DIANA RIGG IN OHMSS THINK ABOUT THAT !
I agree with the choices they made, because som eof the actors were just simply nto the cut. Some, a few of those, who either declined or were rejected could have played the role, but not many. For me, Irish Pierce Brosnan was the best, not Connery although I agree he is superb.
I was a huge fan of Stanley Baker and I think he would've been terrific as James Bond.
Roger moore.....best bond in 70 and 80
The core of Bond is that he is, in theory, a secret agent. For that reason I would not necessarily go for a well established actor. I would want someone not too well known. In my view that was one of the things that made Connery successful. That and a shed load of screen presence.
I do agree with you 💯% 👍🏿
Nice work
I would choose UK actor and 'Lucifer' star Tom Ellis to be the next James Bond. He'd be perfect for the role. What do others here think?
Before Sean Connery, the Australian actor Rod Taylor was offered the role which he declined. A decision which he regretted later.
Every generation has had a James Bond
My fathers era it was Sean Connery
My era it was Roger Moore
As an older adult I have to say that the best James Bond so far has been Daniel Craig.
The next person in line has got really BIG shoes to fill. And I mean really big.
My alternatives
•1962-1962
Sean Connery (hard to find a Connery alternative, maybe Stanley Baker or Patrick McGoohan)
•1969-1971
Terence Stamp
•1973-1981
Michael Billington
•1983-1989
Lewis Collins
•1995-2002
Sean Bean
•2006-2019
Sam Worthington
I wouldn't have even thought about a lot of those actors for James Bond! Only dashing and really out standing looking guys. For such a part.
Michael Fassbender ..., “he’s ruled himself out” .... four ‘big’ bets have been placed on him, having been 16/1, now he’s 8/13 . One of which coming from an Eon employee. The writing truly is on the wall. Great choice, can’t wait.
Fassbender would be perfect. I am surprised he was never even given an audition back in 2005.
@@spaceodds1985
It’s all smoke and mirrors, he’s denied interest, said he’s too old, said it should be a black or a woman, ... all the usual tosh. I’m hoping it’s him, he’s more class in his little finger than the rest of the field put together, fingers crossed.
I would watch him play Bond
Fun Fact: Christian Bale on the role of Bond is quoted, " I've already played a serial killer" referring to "American Psycho"
As far as Bond being a different race than the past that's all good. Idris is one of my favorite actors. But the character of Bond becoming a woman? Why don't they simply make up a new female spy hero? If Bond becomes a woman my trips to the theater to see the latest Bond movie will end.
Why doesn’t someone just make up a spy hero who isn’t white?
Or you can read the last published Bond novel Forever and A Day which depicts how Bond became 007 and got his License To Kill.
Thank you another C Owen supporter lol. I've been saying for a long time he would have been a great Bond
Clive is a good actor, but does not have the looks for it
He sorta looked similar to Lazenby to me .
Adian Turner should be cast for the Role of James Bond 007 because He's a really fine Actor and He has a Timothy Dalton like look to Him.
He is a fine actor indeed but ba little romani looking.
tom hardy
There were rumors about Regé-Jean Page being the next James Bond. I think he would be a awesome 007. He would reach the same level as Sean Connery, the ultimate Bond ever!
Trevor Howard would have made a good M. Surprised they didn't consider Peter Lawford.
I agree. I mean all this talk of casting Bond with Idris Elba (who is an awful actor IMO) and not one word about casting Eva Green as Blade... Double standards are not on call.
Yeah I think Tom Hardy would actually be a better Bond Villain than James Bond himself.
@@naasduplessis855 yes totally agree, he could be Bane with a cat! Anyone would be better than Christopher Waltz has Blofeld. Donald pleasance and Charles Gray must be turning in their grave!.
ONLY Richard Rowntree could play shaft, in the same way only Bond should be played by a male white brit otherwise the whole franchise would be ruined, that would be a travesty, is it worth it just to be seen to be politically correct? .. which is insane anyway.
Sean Connery was the best 007 and it would have been interesting to see where Burt Reynolds would have taken the Bond character.
I love burt Reynolds he's one of my favourite but as he said himself James bond should only be played by a British actor
Female James Bond? Hell no
Females considered for James Bond. Give me a break. I'm getting a migraine thinking about it.
Let's see if "WOKE Hollywood" RUINS the Bond franchise. 🤮
Would of loved to have seen ewan mcgregor as bond.
We'd love to see that too, Jakobite _TA!
"Ahm Boond. Jemmy Boond!"
Noooooooooooo
James Bond must be a white British man. That’s who Bond is.
You wouldn’t get a white man to play Shaft, or Mr. Miogi.
Enough with the ‘woke’ PC bull$hit.
The next James Bond will be a half Asian..half Afro Bisexual Vegan Transgender Woman
Tom Hiddelston was fantastic in "the night manager ".he basically played a James Bond!!!
When Craig was holding out on returning for NTTD they auditioned a few actors and Barbra Broccolli said TH was "too stuffy and posh"
Sean Bean was the best bond villain ever in my opinion. The fact he played an equal adversary and former 00 was perfect.
My last comment wasn’t meant to be rude or offensive. Was just clarifying the correct information. Overall I enjoyed your video and liked learning of the many possibilities that could’ve happened. I liked the video, thumbs up.
I can't say I know any women called James... if they go down that route, absolutely ludicrous. I simply won't watch any more so called Bond films.
There’s a model (female) named James. Can’t recall her last name.
If Dick Van Dyke played James Bond, who'd play Moneypenny? Julie Andrews?
I don't believe that.
Richard Burton would have made a great Bond. He was masculine with a commanding personna, the ladies loved him and he had that magnificent voice.
I think Patrick McGoohan would have been good as James Bond after seeing him as John Drake in Danger Man, Richard Burton is just a great actor all together. I think hands down Henry Cavill should be the next James Bond.
Thanks for watching!
That guy who played magneto(too lazy to look it up😁) should be next bond
If memory serves me well, Croatian actor Goran Višnjić from ER was also considired for the role of James Bond back in 2005 for Casino Royale.
He was but he couldn’t pull off a British accent
If the franchise wanted to take a darker path, Oliver Reed would of played a great Bond. I've always seen James Bond similar to Dr. Who in terms of change of actor playing potentially the same character. But who knows, Bond may be a Timelord. 🤔
75 percent of the men mentioned I've never even heard of before LoL
That doesn't mean that the actors named in this video clip were not in the field. Somebody's ignorance is not valid for such comment!
the fact that Bond was killed in the last film suggests he should next be played as a zombie.
Henry Cavill..best choice
Thanks for watching!
Paul McGann looks exactly how I imagined Bond when reading the novels. I never imagined Connery, Moore, Brosnan.
I am surprised that Stephen Boyd wasn't approached for the role,
he would have been great especially following Sean Connery.
Many of the names of famous actors mentioned were too old .
My other choice would have been Stanley Baker.
Rod Taylor is the only likely candidate; even lovelier than Connery, if that’s possible.
He would have been perfect, but he died in 2015.
Tom Hardy.....if he will do it, he’d be perfect!
If a woman is cast, she won't be James Bond.
Destiny of three of the actors once considered to play James Bond:
Burt Reynolds - The Bandit in Smokey and The Bandkt
Clint Eastwood - The Man With No Name
Adam West - 1966 Batman TV series
Gary Grant would have been great his chrisma and charm was perfect for the role.
Most of these guys who were either considered, or turned down the role, I've never even heard of. Then again, I'd never heard of George Lazenby, when he was selected. So... Who knows? And, Count Me In with those who think that 007 should never be played by a woman!
I liked the actors selected .. I did pick Daniel Craig as soon as I saw him as a selection - Sean and Daniel my favourite... Australia NSW
Thanks for watching!
@@FactsVerse . An actor who, from a physical appearance standpoint, would have been superb for the role of James Bond in the Eon Productions' series of Bond films, would have been Bob Holness who played Bond on radio in South Africa during the 1950's. In the photo of Holness that appears in the November 2003 book, "The Rough Guide To James Bond", Holness looks very similar to George Lazenby as Lazenby looked in 1969 in "OHMSS"!
I'm just imagining Clint Eastwood hissing "Bond...James Bond". I don't thing Burt Reynolds could actually be taken seriously. But facially all the Bonds look fairly different, Moore didn't even have black hair. Frankly, given how books are regularly mutated, the 'look' is less important than the actual plot and writing.
@@mikearchibald744 . Roger Moore may have had very, very dark brown hair, but in most, if not all, of the photos I have seen of him, his hair sure looked black!
@@michaelbarlow6610 Go back and watch Moonraker and Octopussy. And Live and let die. In all the bond movies he was in it was very light brown, almost blonde.
There were a number of potential James Bonds who would have been credible and made their mark in the role. But the Actors who DID get the role of James Bond were the right choice. One thing that has made the Bond Franchise so successful is they almost NEVER made a bad casting decision. In the role of Bond, in the role of Bond Villains, in the role of Gorgeous Women. The Bond folks (almost) never missed. And Yes! Bond should only be played by a resident of the UK or its Territories. I don't see a problem with a Australian Actor being James Bond. And I say this as an American. Christian Bale as Bond? No.
Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, Robert Pattinson, Clive Owen, Henry Cavill ,
Ian Ogilvy David Niven, but the number one spot should have been Lewis Collins RIP David Niven and Lewis Colins
Thanks for watching!
Jeremy Brett would have made history.
ROD TAYLOR+MEL GIBSON WOULD HAVE MADE PERFECT BONDS TAYLOR FOR THE SERIOUS BOND & GIBSON FOR THE NOT SO SERIOUS
Clive Owen said he was offered the role and he declined. He said they offered him a ridiculous amount of money.
Connery had a supporting role in a Tarzan movie and the producer offered him the role of Tarzan in the next movie. Connery said his agent wanted him to audition for a spy movie. But if it didn't work out, he'd play Tarzan.
Thanks for sharing this, Richard!
Well, it was the swinging sixties, after all.
Instead of "Mish Moneypenny", he would have been yelling "Mish Jane" from the treetops!
I don't think Richard Todd was keen on the idea of being Bond as he would of been in his mid forties at this time, but I can understand how Ian Fleming would of wanted him, he was a war hero being one of the first men in on the D Day landings he was indeed a very brave man not to mention very handsome.
