@@brag0001 - lol this just occurred to me: having "owner of restaurant" on the phone would enable her to attempt the same scam at countless other establishments, since no restaurant is actually named.
@@franl155 if this was a Karen with some brains, she would at least google the restaurant beforehand and create an entry with the restaurants name. If she can find the owner information, which shouldn't be so hard, she could even double down and have the contact in the owners name and have the "restaurant owner" stuff only attached to it as label, to make it look more credible. But if Karen's were smart enough to do this, they wouldn't need to do this type of scamming in the first place. With that much ahead planning, she could simply have made proper reservations ;-)
My best friend was a waiter at a nice restaurant in downtown Atlanta. One Sunday afternoon at lunch he had a table of 4 or 5 older women from an affluent area of town, and they were terribly rude and dismissive of him. He made countless trips to their table for inconsequential requests and he was over it. It was especially infuriating when they left without tipping him. He did so much extra work for nothing. The only thing he found on their table was a set of car keys. Those went right into the trash can and when one of them came back to sheepishly ask if he had found them, he said, "No Ma'am. I didn't find anything on the table. Not ANYTHING".
She did threaten the owner with Toilet Duty... I bet doing that at $8 minimum wage (about 1 000 hrs) would nail the point home. Though I think her minions should work beside her to pay off her accumulating interest.
Other people have said it, but yeah, if they can't pay you call the cops have them arrested. Only thing I am not sure of is if it would be a felony at that point since their theft exceeds $5000.

being a server in a convention centre while we wait for our guests to arrive for that evening's service, I believe it was chinese new year 2 years ago, a homeless woman somehow got into the room, and we served her as normal, even offering extras of everything. She seemed deeply uncomfortable with our attention though appreciated that we didn't call her out. The service was prepaid and the chefs throw out the food at the end of the night so it was honestly nothing to serve her. She was nervous, sat close to the doors, and had a shaggy disheveled look abt her. I mention this to my supervisor after the fact knowing he'd say "You should've told us." Though to our knowledge she could've been a paying guest, it's rude to ask someone if they are homeless. Since our boss says the customer is always right, so we treat all of our guests as best as possible. (I call them guests as they already prepaid for the service, so no transaction is occurring. We are just rendering the service they paid for.)
If she wasn't causing a problem, was respectful and thankful and she showed up again I would try to serve her again (if the meals were already paid for and extras thrown away). I would also see if it was possible to give leftovers to a shelter in the area so it didn't go to waste and the needy got a decent meal.

I've never worked at a dine in restaurant but when I was on a date, the girl tried to pay and it was declined 6 times. They took my driver's license and held it in the back office. It was late so I came back the next day after work and paid the bill and was given back my license
I was a server at A family owned Italian restaurant and it was prom night and there was a table of two couples who didn't realize they had lost their wallet and they were only able to pay for half of the bill since they didn't intentionally try to skip out on the bill the owner gave them the choice to come in for a couple of weekends to work off the remaining bill with their parents blessing or they could come back and pay the rest of the bill. The owner of course drew up a short term contract and also recorded the agreement to make sure they kept true to their word, the two boys decided to work off the bill and one of them eventually became a part time employee and after graduation became a full time server!
I want to know where this restaurant is and go their for my self and meet the owner and see the bill on the wall and take a picture of it and eat at the restaurant and be amazed
As someone who works in a restaurant, if someone orders a bunch of food and can’t pay at the end, the police get called and it gets put down as a burglary cost for the restaurant so it can be wrote off.
Not paying your bill at a restaurant is theft by nonpayment. I would assume that not paying a bill in the thousands would be more serious than petty theft.
If you eat at a restaurant and refused or couldn't pay the bill at is at the owners discretion. They may allow you to access an ATM, make payments or contact the authorities press charges for theft of services.
Hi there Dark Fluff! You have much more patience for these half-dozen witches than I would have. I would have had the police on standby when I delivered the bill to the table.
I work in fast food and normally if someone's card declines and they don't have enough money, they get all attitudey and tell us to cancel the order and drive off after we give them their card back or take the card back if they are in lobby and storm out of the door
I worked in hospitality for a good 10 years, made it to manager and was never shocked at peoples behaviour, I got my own back on rude customers in little ways, none of which I'll ever admit, but this has to be the best revenge story on a rude entitled customer I have ever heard! OP YOU are MY hero!!!
I realize I am months late on saying or asking this, but one thing I have never even thought to see was a $5000 feed bill for one evening. How is that even possible... What, Caviar, wine, champagne ? crap... I thought $300 was bad. $5000 is well and defined beyond psychotic.
I've heard this story many times before and I always, always listen to it again. I love what the owner did to the "Karen's". They needed to be brought down many pegs and taught a lesson, big time. I wonder if she stopped being an entitled Karen afterwards.....hmmmm 🤔
I recognized the title of the story, having read it on another channel weeks ago (deaf read rather than listen), so I could skip all the preliminaries (9 minutes or more) and get to the juicy bits.
I've worked at a high end restaurant for almost fifteen years and if you aren't able to pay your bill then it's considered theft and you can be arrested
They didn't, thus the first three rounds of free drinks, and no food. They were three sheets to the wind when they got food and didn't have the capacity to think clearly, and Queen Karen was so high on her power trip she didn't care. They were set up to fail
Fluff, to your question to what happens when you cannot pay. I was at a restaurant in south Germany in a tourist spot with my best friend, and we had an amazing dinner. When it came to pay, I pulled out my card and the waitress said "oh, no. we only take cash". it's not uncommon in Germany, so be careful if you ever visit. It was so embarrassing. The waitress pointed out that it said so on the front page of their menu, but we had been so hungry, we'd overlooked it, whoops. The bill was maybe 90 € and we had 50 bucks in cash between us. Thankfully, the waitress saw how embarrassed and panicked we were, and so she said: If you go outside and up to the main road and walk 150 meters, there's a bank with an ATM. So my friend had to stay there as collateral while I sped the car down the road, got the cash, and came back. We apologized profusely while the waitress said "it's okay, no worries". it wasn't even closing time yet. I also apologized to my friend a lot, since I really should have read the warning - since I'm German and she's from Sweden. We were on holiday. We tipped the waitress a bunch, thanked her for the otherwise lovely evening and that the food was to die for and left. We came back a few days later for a second time. And I even took my mom there a year later on vacation. Always with enough cash in my wallet. In no lifetime could I ever imagine being like queen Karen and her mini/baby karens (lol)
I’m surprised that OP didn’t ask Queen Karen what the owner’s name was, since she ‘knows the owner’ and they’re such ‘good friends’ she outta know what the owner’s name is before calling her out on her BS.
First story: (OP) "I didn't want to go all out and say I'm the owner and we have never spoke before so because I didn't wanna embarrass her in front of the other girls she was with." Totally should have. She was doing what I like to call "Kingpinning", lying to try to show everyone how special and important she is. Being suddenly introduced to the actual owner would have either immediately deflated her ego or "caused" her to double down and throw a fit. I would pay actual money to watch/record either and post it to RUclips lol Of course, what actually happened was WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more satisfying! ....and I'd gladly wash as many dishes at it takes if I were to rack up a bill at a restaurant that I couldn't pay right then.
I heard this story somewhere before but haven't been able to find it since, I've been looking all over for this! Thank-you Darkfluff, you've made my day!
If they have jewelry on I would say "hand it over sweetie" LOL I use to own a small restaurant and I would have sent them on their way. But I like your idea better.
I have got to say this is by far the best Karen story I've ever heard in my life. He should take that framed bill and hang it in the restaurant with the rest of the famous people because she should be the most famous Karen out there 🤣. Thank you for bringing sunshine to a cloudy day 😊
3:00 yeah I also used to work foodservice for a ma and pop restaurant and if the owner was bringing a "special freind" they'd usually let the staff know ahead of time, and they get the "family of employee discount" which was 15% of your party's meal, so hearing this kinda raises a red flag
I've worked in several restaurants through my life. Nothing too high end. No $120 oysters for example. But when customers racked up a high bill and couldn't cover it, the cops were called, and the person was held on theft charges. From there, I'm not all that sure what happens, because I was either just a waitress or a cook. Not exactly high up in the food chain.
Civil case is separate. You would have to send bill and try to collect. The sue in civil court. Sure, they could be arrested for theft but the he police don’t collect debts. If they can pay, it is likely they will do a not to get bad credit report. Some places have victim restitution as part of criminal system.
In Canada, you can't. He did, and showed the father, but without everyone's concent, he cannot post it as it would be considered "an invasion of privacy"
The owner of the restaurant have her ID and credit card, so they will call the police that "karen's" didn't pay the food. If karen run away, he still have her ID
I'm, not one to belittle others (so I hope this doesn't count) though I will call someone out on their crap. If I were OP I would 100% look her dead in the eye with the best innocent look I've got and ask why and how she was so worried about the bill when she's ~been here before, all the time~ 🎉

Asked what he thought of it, then told him that I used to have the 3200 with the boomerang rear lights. Attitude instantly changed. Delivering rattan furniture to a shop and the manager was bragging how he had had 3 months out in Hong Kong arranging the deal etc. So I turned round and said to him in Cantonese, 'Hello my friend, how are you?' @@franl155 if this was a Karen with some brains, she would at least google the restaurant beforehand and create an entry with the restaurants name.
BaHaHaHaHa!!!!!

She did threaten the owner with Toilet Duty... I bet doing that at $8 minimum wage (about 1 000 hrs) would nail the point home.
Though I think her minions should work beside her to pay off her accumulating interest.

being a server in a convention centre while we wait for our guests to arrive for that evening's service, I believe it was chinese new year 2 years ago, a homeless woman somehow got into the room, and we served her as normal, even offering extras of everything.
It was probably the nicest meal they had in a long time
If she wasn't causing a problem, was respectful and thankful and she showed up again I would try to serve her again (if the meals were already paid for and extras thrown away).

I’m just shocked he didn’t end up charging her for the table too
I think that I would have.
That owner is brilliant! I couldn't stop laughing when he sprung the trap on those girls!
At first I was just thinking "just say you're the manager, fuck embarrassing her-"
But oH my god that was satisfying-
I want to know where this restaurant is and go their for my self and meet the owner and see the bill on the wall and take a picture of it and eat at the restaurant and be amazed
This is amazing! What a sweet satisfying ending! What a smart owner. The framed bill is always funny.

The food was so awful, she ordered the oysters eight times.
Oh, yea! It was SO terrible, that the Karens HAD to eat the food, so no-one else was forced to eat it! ^^

not paying a bill of 5000 or more would probably be a felony

I've heard this story many times before and I always, always listen to it again. I love what the owner did to the "Karen's". They needed to be brought down many pegs and taught a lesson, big time. I wonder if she stopped being an entitled Karen afterwards.....hmmmm 🤔
I recognized the title of the story, having read it on another channel weeks ago (deaf read rather than listen), so I could skip all the preliminaries (9 minutes or more) and get to the juicy bits.
I seriously doubt that very much. Karen's never stop being Karen's.
I've worked at a high end restaurant for almost fifteen years and if you aren't able to pay your bill then it's considered theft and you can be arrested
Honestly though. If they had multiple rounds of drinks and dishes like caviar and lobster, how much did they think the bill was gonna be?

First story: (OP) "I didn't want to go all out and say I'm the owner and we have never spoke before so because I didn't wanna embarrass her in front of the other girls she was with."
Totally should have. She was doing what I like to call "Kingpinning", lying to try to show everyone how special and important she is. Being suddenly introduced to the actual owner would have either immediately deflated her ego or "caused" her to double down and throw a fit.
I would pay actual money to watch/record either and post it to RUclips lol

Much deserved. I would’ve added the “complementary drinks” and the vip bill
