Hi Mel and Gary. So nice to see Gary back up working on the mud room. I hope you at least get it closed in before more rain and possibly snow. Don't want the floor to get ruined, Mel I made those flour ornaments with my kids and still have a bunch. Now they are doing it with their kids. It's a fun project. Love how everything is looking. Keep doing you!
Find your good soffit board length. Mark one side end then mark the roof line side. Stretch a chalk line between the sides and pop it. Now cut off the extra and set the cuts aside for blocking.
Gary, I wish my brain worked like yours. I don’t understand most of what you say but you do and that’s what matters. I could listen to you talking numbers all day!!! I did salt dough as a kid! Really fun!
So excited for more progress on the mud room! Oh is this the Gary show? Hi Mel so nice to see you with the kids! I can’t imagine how you feel if I can’t believe how much the kids have grown! I remember you making cookies in the RV & I thought what an amazing Mom & Aunt w/ no room & all 4 kids in the RV making Xmas cookies❤🙏🙏🙏Blessings
I love how Gary explains everything so thoroughly and I still have no clue what he is saying but I don’t actually care! I am just along for the ride 😂😊
My how time flys the kiddos are growing like weeds. It only seems like yesterday they were smaller. It's hard for me to believe that my oldest granddaughter will be graduating high school next year and how all my grandkids has grown so much. Well like they say the older ya get the more that time flys by faster. The kiddos did a good 👍👍👍 job making the Christmas ornaments.
Dude, stop delaying and cut in the valley rafters...it's pretty simple...chalk a valley line...compound cut the rafter bottoms (set original house roof pitch angle on your saw, mark pitch cut at 90deg from top rafter cut). It helps to do rafter lay-out on the valley chalk line using a sheet of plywood set square with the ridge to determine chalk line layout OC. Get the damned thing done and weathered in!
We hear ya! The roof is a big project! And it has to be on a day both of us are available to do it, and the weather permits. 🤗 We have a plan. One day at a time 💚
Gary and Mel I wanted to let you know that my sister is having her husband’s visitation tomorrow at the funeral home and graveside service Friday morning and I wanted to ask you to please pray for her and I appreciate you and your prayers very much
I loved the kids Christmas ornaments they painted. They were very creative in painting them. Raindeer was cute and the Angel was pretty. Good job Mel. Gary i loved watching you working on the roof, one more step closer. Merry Christmas kids and to all.❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎄🦌🕊️.
Hi everyone!! Wow the kids did an excellent job making those ornaments and they are so pretty!! Mel yours were great too lol!! It looks like you made some great progress on the mud room Gary. Keep it up haha! Love you guys!! 💜
Great job Gary! I knew you would figure out what ya wanted. All the kiddos did so good, so pretty, bet they will look awesome on the tree! Merry Christmas guys!
Good morning Mel and Gary, weather and building, the memories of my first build in the early ‘70’s. This is coming along great despite the rain. Now that you have set up early in this video, you answer my curious questions in my last comment in the previous video. Hey Mel, I have never done the decoration dough craft. It certainly looks easy enough compared to paper mache. It’s great to see your children getting into it.
Very good video great family interaction. Gary I love you dearly man, but you would get a lot more done if you didn't over think it so much lol. those rafters do not need bracing I'm from Eastern Ontario we get tons of snow and we have 24 and 36 inch over hangs with out bracing any snow you get down there will not stay on too long before it melts. Merry Christmas and God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
I've been cutting roofs for over 12 years. I worked in a truss yard, I mean, you're doing things your way? I would have done them completely different. But Hey, you've got to learn.
Man i haven't clicked on this channel in a good what feels and maybe 3 yrs. Good deal pretty much all but the lipstick. Dude this happens. Once u complete the hard stuff the easy stuff actually seems complicated but its not it just takes some getting use to the methods of finishing. Gary's a freaking skinny superman he can do it man.
Trying to be respectful but I am having a hard time listening to all the chatter. Way too much explaining and not enough just getting it done. Yesterday it was actually explained that Gary was going up the ladder and..... Seeing Gary go up the ladder should be self explanatory guys.
We hear you! It's a delicate balance of explanation and action. 😉 If we don't explain every single step.. we get way too many questions. We're kinda tired of over explaining as well, but trying to please everyone despite it being an impossible task.. so we're just gonna keep being us an doing what we're doing. Hope you're enjoying the ride! Later later
@SimpleLifeReclaimed well that makes sense. I get the feeling that you are both highly intelligent but Gary seems to get over the top lost in his thoughts and things tend to be over complicated.
Sorry but that’s not correct at all, I have put roofs on many unfinished structures, you can dry in the house with a roof long before you do anything else. One more point, many contractor who build homes have the “roof on” as a release point for construction funds from the bank, so they will put the roof on as soon as framing is complete to get a pay day. That’s nothing new.
Tks for sharing the family activities, sure miss that. Our babies are 51 now. Too busy to share with a lonly old widower.
. Sure miss that
I am so sorry that they don’t invite you to share in their lives

I do! Great show!!!

Awesome job Gary on the roof progress. Mel & kids those are some really cool ornaments you all painted. Very talented kids. ❤❤❤
Love Gary explaining as he goes and how he laughs at himself. He's a pleasure to watch. Hes akso smart as a whip
Gary, I wish my brain worked like yours. I don’t understand most of what you say but you do and that’s what matters. I could listen to you talking numbers all day!!!
I did salt dough as a kid! Really fun!
Haha! I'm sure we all wish we could think like Gary sometimes! 😂

Great family video 🧑🎄 🎄
That dough is a real institution in Ecuador. It's called masapan!! It is a real art form!!!
Nice progress on the roof, Gary! Homemade Christmas ornaments are the best!

Your place, your call all the way.
Very sweet kids! ❤
Thanks, we are so proud of them!
You see, Gary, it's much better to work with a ladder like this. 😊
Get commercial type gutter it's bigger and can handle more water......
Try glitter paint on ornaments
Nice video y'all hope you enjoyed your movie😊
We did, thanks for asking! 😊
Seems like that rafter against your Eve seems like it isn't straight maybe if you check it with your Square where it attaches to the beam
Very good video great family interaction. Thanks for the advice! It's good to hear from fellow builders. Merry Christmas from down South! 🎅
Great job kids!!
Please give the recipe for salt dough oranaments
Have a lovely holiday time>take care
I've been cutting roofs for over 12 years. I worked in a truss yard, I mean, you're doing things your way? I would have done them completely different. But Hey, you've got to learn.
We are learning as we go! Just sharing our process of doing it for the first time 💚✌🏻
👍👏🎄☃️

We're glad you're back! It's definitely been a journey, but we're getting there 😊 one day at a time 💚✌🏻
🥰🥰🥰🥰🎄🙏🙏
Gary, why don't you run a chalk line on it.
Names and year on the ornaments please.
How are you doing today
😁❤️
👍🎄🎁♥️
Couldn't you put a tarp over it til u can get roof on?!
Why didn't you pop a line, square it off, and walk the wall to cut everyone without moving the ladder?
Why isn’t the floor level Gary,,,,?,,,lol..
Great family....hugs
Aww shucks, thanks so much! We appreciate you.

First
Mel please take out earbuds out. Of your ears
These folks put a lot of effort in but why they risk all their hard work by not putting a roof on this place I don’t understand.
You can't put a roof on an unfinished structure. Your comment is very confusing indeed

Because they have three children they’re homeschooling and they have other responsibilities that have to be done
Great Job @SimpleLifeReclaimed 👍
I love it a lot @SimpleLifeReclaimed 😊😊💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚
