Put out an Oddish/jigglypuff as a potential sacrifice to build up a wigglytuff, let the sacrifice die on purpose to get a free hit with wigglytuff and by the time wigglytuff is in the killable hp you already have another wigglytuff/vileploom ready to swap in. Deck is grass so Erika (+50 hp heal) is good to keep vileploom alive, Sabrina to force switches for potential extra points or getting out of a tight spot, and it annoys the opponent to no end because both vileploom and Wigglytuff have the exact same move (80dmg puts foe to sleep. @@danielwithane911 This particular deck needs too many factors working in its favor to function. Primeape is just too frail for a Pokemon who requires a turn of setup to work. @@TheLordTashhow much have you actually played with the deck? deck is not great first but it’s still playable and one turn of setup is not bad at all? there aren’t many factors you need to have happen and it doesn’t need nearly as many factors as a deck like mewtwo
@@Dupical Its HP is the issue. When its set up, it only has 80 HP. That means Pikachu can OHKO it, Starmie can OHKO it, Mewtwo can OHKO it with Giovanni. Every major deck in the format can pretty effortlessly dispatch a Primape that's set up, while it can only OHKO Pikachu and non-ex Pokemon. And the problem is that this is on a Pokemon that requires a turn of setup, so you can't just immediately bring in another one to revenge kill a Pikachu EX or something. The deck just fails to accomplish what it set out to do.
Yeah, the new Mankey is a lot of fun. I have been playing it in Marowak EX. I also have a fun Arbok+Pidgeot control deck I have been playing some, it isn't the greatest, but it is fun. Pidgeot gives you a Sabrina every turn and Arbok can force something to stay in, so you can really mess with your opponent's positioning.
I’ve played maybe 15-20 matches with this deck now (kabutops variant) and I can say it has potential to crush any meta deck, but only if you go second and can evolve on turn 4. The entire deck hinges around mankey actually evolving and dealing 100 damage turn 4. If your opp goes first with a 1-2 energy attack for 40 damage you basically lose the match. Couple that with the fact that you only have another mankey as a backup mon to search for with pokeball and it just make the deck crumble apart if you don’t get a good start. As much as I love the gimmick of guaranteeing a mankey in your active slot turn 1, I feel like having more basics will make the deck more consistent past the first 2 turns. Misty, dragonite and venusaur decks absolutely obliterate this strategy.
Eevee That if attacked doesn't get knocked out if a Eevolution is in hand or bench and provides 1 energy to Jolteon, Vaporeon or Flareon and auto allows instant evolution to whatever eevolution the player choses.
half way comment - few things: Crobat. 1-2 colorless energy 60-70. beats mewtwo easier. not a new card, but if they update blaine to work on arcanine, hits the 150 damage mark and the 1 energy for sleep jigglypuff
after getting 45 wins in the challenge with the monkey i have some notes i barely ever saw another monkey player so mirror matches were rare, but most of the time they boiled down to who went 2nd mewtwo is almost always a loss for this deck, there are some variations with marowak and machamp that might do better but you almost always lose to mewtwo. especially because mewtwo can one shot kabutops the kabutops deck is a lot better than the sandslash one and kabutops can completely shut down articuno if you can set it up. sandslash can be better but it’s a lot more variance and not as consistent even though it’s really good against pikachu if you just don’t get the ape you lose overall it’s kinda dependent on whether you lose the first coin flip but the deck is good for being not as luck based as other decks like articuno
I'm FTP trying to get the Lapris card right now, and watching your videos are good luck. I'm learning new tips got for playing and each battle I get better with my mediocre cards.
QOTD: there is a magmar card in the tcg where it does 80dmg for 1 fire and 2 colourless, but it does 80 more damage if you have electabuz on the bench. That would be able to smash a lot of the current meta Pokemon I think
I absolutely loved the Mankey as well, but I didn't think to use him with Kabutops. Might have to try Aerodactyl as with all the energy you gonna have. Don't need Misty getting 3+ heads and sweeping us
I made a Primeape Kabutops deck before this promo came out, with Mankey being the only basics in the deck to guarantee starting with one as attack bait and wreck havoc with Primeape while i setup Kabutops to cleanup. but when this promo came out..... deck went on like a 10 game winning streak right off the bat before it started getting Ls.
a similar synergy but not as easy to pull off since it is a stage 2 is bruxish+greninja. use greninja’s ability each turn to get damage on the active pokemon and allows bruxish’s attack to do 70 each time
I actually needed a Mankey so this is a great event for that and it’s a better version anyway. We are also having Mankey Community Day in Pokémon Go this weekend. Someone said they got 4 Clefairy from this event. I kinda feel their pain because my first 2 pulls were Clefairy, but I do have 2 Lapras and 2 Mankey now. I’m just missing the Butterfree!
The best way to improve TCG pocket is to make energy a shared pool. Not only would this aid blackout decks but you could skip drawing energy to stick your opponent with an energy type they can't use.
I've made a Self Damage Primape, No Damage Dugtrio, EX Machamp deck i still have to test ( i've been focussing on grinding the EX Lapres but no luck this far ) but i'll sure be trying the Kabutops/Primape deck cuz you're right about the basic start off mechanic. On another note: are the Crown rare cards premium locked? Or do F2P players have a shot at them?
I feel like the reason this card is new and not just an alternate art like most of the other event cards is because they decided to push out a counter to pikachu EX sooner.
My Electric deck that pisses people off: Pikachu ex x2 Raichu Pikachu (60hp full art 😁) Blitzle x2 Zebstrika x2 Magnemite Magneton Pinchurchin - if I start this pokemon, the coin flip for paralysis is huge when people play ex's, only deck I've come across that washed this one was a Dragonite (full art) deck with Koffing. Potion x2 Professor Oak x2 Sabrina Giovanni Speed X Havent gotten a Zapdoz ex yet to be metta, but i will definitely be using this Mankey/Primeape deck.
Promo manky stat wise i put at C average, bad HP but the dmg is above average however the dmging itself so it can be 2 hit by the typical 20 dmg normally would be D because if ur forced to go first u only get a single attack (or 1 hit with 30 + trailer, or farfetched). Thankfully Primape being the standard 90 hp for a stage 1 pokemon is C but then the dmg for 2 energy cost i generally say the standard is 50 but primeape doing a whopping 100 dmg allows it to yeet almost all stage 1 pokemon in a single hit catapults it multiple ranks to A rank. S rank is reserved for cards that can score 3 by itself or enables entire techs, Primages 80 hp after taking 10 dmg makes it near impossible to actually score 3 but scoring 2 should be pretty easy
So I just played against someone using this deck, here's how it went: I went first, placed Ralts and a Mewtwo ex I drew on the first turn. They attacked with Mankey on their turn. I then used Giovanni and killed the Mankey with Ralts... Instant win because no benched mon lmao
In term of retreat cost, Primeape is better than Sandslash. In term of tankiness, both are very similar since most of the hard hitting move are 90+ dmg. And if you are using Sandslash, chances are opponent gonna have Giovanni and will one shot Sandslash regardlessly. In term of use as opener & going second, Mankey outright better than Sandshrew in match up against electric deck. There are so many pokemon in electric are 60 hp, and Mankey can turn 1 scoring one ko with Giovanni. Voltorb, Blitzle, Magnemite, non ex Pikachu, Eevee, Helioptile. In term of attack power of evolve form, Primeape can win on its own since 100 dmg attack can one shot quite a lot of pokemon, even the Weez koga tech get one shotted by Primeape. Meanwhile Sandslash 70 dmg attack usually means you going to need two turns to ko anything having decent hp pool.
Had an opponent flip heads 10 times in a row for their Lickitung, doing 600 damage... 10 heads has a 0.098% chance of happening or a 1 in 1024 chance of happening. Meanwhile, I struggle to flip 1 head most of the time.
It doesn't change the meta yet, because 9 of 10 people run mewtwo ex deck. However it will fuck me up who is using dark type :D But I like how you beat that Mewtwo. Maybe it is good? Or was it a lot of luck?
Oh my god please, I see all these normal type pokemon and think where is double colorless energy. Without it a lot of them suck, but if it was present in some form it could work. Right now normal type pokemon you only really see meowth and kangaskhan because they only need 1 energy to attack.
If this game is anything like Pokemon Masters EX, they'll re-run events next year for people who missed out on Lapras EX this year. Sadly, I've used up all my attempts and event hourglasses and still haven't got Lapras EX.
Primape 90hp i think Will not cut It, also farchfet is top meta rn and it is a hard counter of mankey, also u want to atack with mankey and then evolve, this means that im middle/late game is almost usless. I would love to be wrong cause i like this Pokémon. As the Game evolved, this can work in a extremly agro deck, or a potencialy selfdamage archetype.
I really hope they make a game mode that restricts EX cards. I think it would be fun to find decks that can shine without any EX, like seeing a psychic deck that doesn’t have a mewtwo EX🤦♀️
Im not convinced yet. Fun concept but damage on itself makes it farfetch'd food and this combo really only works turn 1 and if you have both in hand. If not energy is to established on there side to attack with just mankey and live. If they ever come up with an ultra ball esk card then this has more potential
To begin with I thought this was not good. I was looking at the fact that you may have to three if not for hit some of the EX to knock them out. But then I realized you were playing pocket so it makes sense to run it.

@@DjentThatIsThall no
I have about 12 packs, 1 Lapras and I think 8 Mankey
Open just a few more and you're statistically on 100% chance to get at least one.
I have 3. I completed all the missions. I thought it had a high rate lol since I suck opening ex mons lol
My girlfriend is 3/3 on lapras
Gengar deck gets a little bit better when mankey is meta, because gastly can oneshot the mankey.
also when the new jigglpuff comes out, a lot of decks will run it for sure, but mankey also oneshots the jigglypuff there, which I think is a cool rock paper scissor thing
They seem to have done a decent job giving everything some sort of counter. Not that it matters much when you don't know what your opponents will run.
Been loving these decks you build! They’re really fun and solid. Great content :)
Translating title: A card I got lucky with once crushes the meta
as if you don't need to get lucky with every other deck
@@danielwithane911 not compared to this lol, I can't lie as cool as it is as a concept, it's not that good
@@danielwithane911 This particular deck needs too many factors working in its favor to function. Primeape is just too frail for a Pokemon who requires a turn of setup to work. So if the one in your active spot dies, and it usually will, you don't really have another one ready to go. Also, it just doesn't work period if you go first.
I got absolutely wrecked by a Mankey Fossil deck earlier. I was testing a Dragonite/Lapras EX deck that I built, and Mankey was the only on to beat me
@@slaps1455 Dragonite AND Lapras Ex? They need 7 mana split between them 💀
@@Dunsieprobably lapras as s tank to build up dnite? And it's water just in case you need to power it up instead. Also, it works with misty
@@SuperSonic3557 exactly. The goal is to lead Lapras with a misty and build up Dragonite
6:54 that was so smooth ❤
killer videos you've been making for the app
I’ve been running a dragonite deck to much success, but this looks fun to try! I’ll be subbing also!
Eevee That if attacked doesn't get knocked out if a Eevolution is in hand or bench and provides 1 energy to Jolteon, Vaporeon or Flareon and auto allows instant evolution to whatever eevolution the player choses.
half way comment -
few things:
Crobat. 1-2 colorless energy 60-70. beats mewtwo easier.
not a new card, but if they update blaine to work on arcanine, hits the 150 damage mark
and the 1 energy for sleep jigglypuff
This. High possibility the next major expansion is Johto, so we will get lots of Dark types to counter the Mewtwo decks.
after getting 45 wins in the challenge with the monkey i have some notes
i barely ever saw another monkey player so mirror matches were rare, but most of the time they boiled down to who went 2nd
mewtwo is almost always a loss for this deck, there are some variations with marowak and machamp that might do better but you almost always lose to mewtwo. especially because mewtwo can one shot kabutops
the kabutops deck is a lot better than the sandslash one and kabutops can completely shut down articuno if you can set it up. sandslash can be better but it’s a lot more variance and not as consistent
even though it’s really good against pikachu if you just don’t get the ape you lose
overall it’s kinda dependent on whether you lose the first coin flip but the deck is good for being not as luck based as other decks like articuno
I'm FTP trying to get the Lapris card right now, and watching your videos are good luck. I'm learning new tips got for playing and each battle I get better with my mediocre cards.
OMG just after writing that comment I got Lapras EX!!!!!!
Don't need Misty getting 3+ heads and sweeping us
I made a Primeape Kabutops deck before this promo came out, with Mankey being the only basics in the deck to guarantee starting with one as attack bait and wreck havoc with Primeape while i setup Kabutops to cleanup. but when this promo came out..... deck went on like a 10 game winning streak right off the bat before it started getting Ls.
a similar synergy but not as easy to pull off since it is a stage 2 is bruxish+greninja. use greninja’s ability each turn to get damage on the active pokemon and allows bruxish’s attack to do 70 each time
Been using the mankey+fossil from day 1.
I really like this deck.
Now that we got the new mankey the deck will shine more.
yo thanks so much for pointing out the mankey thing. im DESTROYING mewtwo decks (some how)
I actually needed a Mankey so this is a great event for that and it’s a better version anyway.
F2P can get them, just very RNG. My friend got a crown Charizard in the other day.
I'm going to try him out but in the marowack deck instead of sandslash
I love how people are saying that the meta is stale and this come along.. can't wait for the stall meta
I've been crushing the event with this new Mankey, my win rate again MewTwo is even around 50/50...love this card
Great synergy! May I know which emulator you use to play the game on pc?
He uses an iPad, no emulator. If you want a recommendation I use mumu emulator
New card ideas like the mankey? Gastly with Scary face that forces an opponent swap, Chansey into Blissey that heals any mon (even opponents)
I feel like the reason this card is new and not just an alternate art like most of the other event cards is because they decided to push out a counter to pikachu EX sooner.
This deck does pretty well against the expert lapras event deck. Only time it fails is if they get a good misty off turn one, which happens too often
Definitely needed a counter for mewtwo, thank you for this info!
My Electric deck that pisses people off:
Pikachu ex x2
Raichu
Pikachu (60hp full art 😁)
Blitzle x2
Zebstrika x2
Magnemite
Magneton
Pinchurchin - if I start this pokemon, the coin flip for paralysis is huge when people play ex's, only deck I've come across that washed this one was a Dragonite (full art) deck with Koffing.
Potion x2
Professor Oak x2
Sabrina
Giovanni
Speed X
Havent gotten a Zapdoz ex yet to be metta, but i will definitely be using this Mankey/Primeape deck.
Next meta changing card would be 1: dark energy “primape type” 2: a stage 2 with ability to stop item cards.
3:31 Mankey could be Manic+Monkey? That's all I can think of. LOL
According to Bulbapedia, Mankey's name comes from 'man' + 'monkey', but 'mad' + 'monkey' makes more sense to me. 🤔
Hp up or defense up poketools would go crazy rn. Also a evolution stage search card
I enjoyed the stream live while I played simultaneously. As an avid EX-hater, looks like Primeape is the deck for me.
Man, I can't wait for Great/Ultra Balls to be added to fetch evolutions.
S rank is reserved for cards that can score 3 by itself or enables entire techs, Primages 80 hp after taking 10 dmg makes it near impossible to actually score 3 but scoring 2 should be pretty easy
not only pikachu but gets me thru charizard users so well since i can get rid of their moltres much quicker
😂 we came up with the same mankey deck. I was thinking I want him turn 1 always
The greatest strength to this deck is the fact that it runs no EX so they actually have to knock out 3 pokemon to win
They should make a supporter card called archeologist. Pulls a fossil card from the deck and puts it in your hand.
Gave this a run and you're right it's great!
“Give my Primeape a broom, good sir, it is cleaning!”
I'm going to use this. What a sick combo
Just in love with the primape & machamp ex deck just so good and so much fun so just do good damage immediately
So I just played against someone using this deck, here's how it went: I went first, placed Ralts and a Mewtwo ex I drew on the first turn. They attacked with Mankey on their turn. I then used Giovanni and killed the Mankey with Ralts... Instant win because no benched mon lmao
Exactly. This deck doesn't work when 50% of the decks you face currently are Mewtwo decks
Can this replace shrew in the marrowakEX deck?😮
Should I buy everything in the premium shop or do you think it will stay there after?
Mankey be getting so much love recently 🎉🎉🎉
That lurking Mewtwo was perfect! 😂👍
Glad I got 20 of them.
New mankey so good. Bro the old mankey the moment i put him on active slot everyone avoid touching him like a plague lmao 😂
Been playing with this deck it’s very fun c:
Had an opponent flip heads 10 times in a row for their Lickitung, doing 600 damage... 10 heads has a 0.098% chance of happening or a 1 in 1024 chance of happening. Meanwhile, I struggle to flip 1 head most of the time.
Nah, bro got eviscerated 😭
@556cy I looked like that emoji in the moment
That’s means my god pack was the same likelihood of about 11 heads in a row
@@Matt-nr8rq I haven't even pulled a 2 star card, let alone a God pack
You definitely have the advantage over lightning decks
I feel like a better basic charmander would good for the fire decks. Basic charmander is a liability if you have to start with it energy wise
I told you bro. I knew this was gonna be the new meta 😂
It doesn't change the meta yet, because 9 of 10 people run mewtwo ex deck. However it will fuck me up who is using dark type :D
But I like how you beat that Mewtwo. Maybe it is good? Or was it a lot of luck?
A supporter card that converts one energy into two colorless energy would be great
Oh my god please, I see all these normal type pokemon and think where is double colorless energy. Without it a lot of them suck, but if it was present in some form it could work. Right now normal type pokemon you only really see meowth and kangaskhan because they only need 1 energy to attack.
I really like how they give love to the regular Pokemon. I really hate how EX cards are now a staple.
Yep this one and primape is my main deck since last night.
What a cool deck . No EX and still doing very well
If this game is anything like Pokemon Masters EX, they'll re-run events next year for people who missed out on Lapras EX this year.
Is Mankey suitable for Marowak ex deck?
Yes
Dunno how useful it's gonna be to the meta, but I would like to see tcgp add the other eeveelutions in upcoming expansion packs
Mankey still runs good into Mewtwo. If it's first turn Mankey into primape you can kill him before he kills you
If we have more draw support or a lysander type card that would change the meta and give more way to unique decks.
double colorless energy would change the meta make other cards more valid like Dragonite
To begin with I thought this was not good. I was looking at the fact that you may have to three if not for hit some of the EX to knock them out. But then I realized you were playing pocket so it makes sense to run it.
GinaTheGiratina here. Missed you cowboy ❤️
