SuperJNG18 Probably, I’d like to think of that. Fun fact: 4/7 of each of the aformentioned countries’ 12s were in the 1990s (Belgium in 90, 92, 93 and 96 and Austria in 92, 93, 95 and 97).

From what I recall, Malta did it on purpose to protest political and neighbor voting.

It is interesting to see how bad are the results of the UK and Ireland since all can sing in English. It also proves that victories and 2nd places of these two countries in 90s had more to do with the language and less with the quality of their songs.
But we actually sent semi-decent songs back then. Save for a few exceptions, our entires have been awful since 1999/2000.
Also, remember that countries could sing in whatever language they wanted between 1973-1976. Our results for that period were 3rd-4th-2nd-1st.
Yawn.
