I was extremely close to my grandpa and the things that I miss are his stories. He didn't like to talk but he told me things he never told anyone. Miss him deeply. But God bless the veterans of this nation. I for one will forever be greatful
This collection is the most important video you will see for a long time. This man represents what they mean when they say the "Greatest Generation". Thank You.
This is my great uncle! My fathers Uncle. I never got to meet him when I was old enough to remember but I’ve heard awesome things about him. I’m proud to be related to him
Great solider and a great video. Always incredibly interesting to hear WW2 veterans stories. My Grand Father landed on D-Day on June 6th and fought through into Germany until the war was over. He would never talk about his experience during this time to anyone....no one at all. My Grand Mother said he came back from the war a different man then when he left. His assault regiment had a high number of men killed and wounded.
Today, I held an old, rusty gun . With a bent barrel, handle blown off, and the bullet shell rotted inside of it still. I also held a soldiers Helmet all from world war 2. you really do walk away as a different person after holding a soldiers stuff...
I love to hear these stories. I have or had relatives that fought in ww2 but not one of them ever told their story. My grandfather would tell little bits here and there but he would always stop and begin staring off into space. He would always take a walk afterwards by his self. I could tell that he was always wrestling with some deep dark stuff. Later, I found out that he was involved in the campaign through Belgium. He and four other men were the only ones to survive in his original unit. I'm sure that he saw more than his fair share of tragedy. Rip Pops.
Tom Wolfe When I hear that it makes me kinda happy that I never met my great grandfather who server for the germans. I wouldn't want him to have flashbacks or feel sad about it. Although I would've loved to hear the stories he experienced.
Damian T You do realise you didnt have a choice back then. It was either you accept the "invitation" or you'd get pulled from your home and likely end up dead or work in a factory.
TheAllstar22 yea yea yeeeaaaaa i pay attention in history but regardless its not like thats anything close to something you should be proud of decending from.... A nazi
Damian T You fucking idiot. You think all germans at the time were nazis? Not even 10% were nazis. The german people in general struggled and had it terrible during the war, prior to the war and after the war. Stop claiming shit when you have no knowledge aboutj it kid.
Its crazy to think that the US cavalry were still on horse back in the late 30s early 40s they had no idea of the giant war machines to come in a few years.
My Gr. Aunt, Gr. Uncle & their children spent the war interned at Santo Thomas, in the Philippines for all of WW II. I hope he tells what happed to his family there. They suffered terribly.
His story is amazing and he tells it well. I am amazed by this generation. Strong humans. My daughters 5. I would love for her to meet a ww2 vet before it’s too late
Haha him calling it out someone who picked on him during basic training to fight him in the ring and to have dropped him a few times haha - that's solid. This veteran, this soldier, you're the man bro!
edgar valderrama Edgar what was your outfit and date of service? Theatre? There are many resources out there to preserve WWII accounts we can point you to
Wow. I can imagine he was lucky to be caught out of uniform and not shot as a spy. Then he's sitting partly in a German Gefreiter's outfit reading secret documents accidentally left next to him at German HQ, and an ornery Wehrmacht colonel could have done the worst. Very interesting story.
That's because what you did yesterday wasn't an important event in your life. See, really shocking events and that kind of unforgettable stuff stick to your memory like glue. Let's say you go to the war in Iraq. Your first mission is to rescue a group of american POWs. When you guys get there, and are freeing them, you get spotted, and you're the first one to get shot. You survive, and your squad leader drags you out of the compound. You and all others make it. Trust me, you wont be forgetting.
yeah i know thanks :)_ but in every place there is a dark side in it ...so yeah ... i just wanna go there to have an experience in the music industry :)
yeah half filipino and half yeman .. and i was born in israel so im currently in israel .. but i also lived in philippines for 10 years anbd i got here (in israel) in about 2 years ago :)

What an incredible tale! My grandfather served in Italy during this war. Some amazing stories too! Thanks for sharing Sir!
What a good memory. I can't even remember what I did yesterday
What a lovely man! And he tells his story with deep humility and in a nonchalant attitude of normalcy. What a pleasure to listen. Thanks for this!

R.I.P. I wish I had a grandfather like him!

What a giant of a man!
very good
What a pleasant, humble man. Excellent story.
What a charming and lovely man. So sharp.
That's true people dont remember stuff that happend a short while ago, but long distant memories are easier to remember.
Great history. Does anyone else notice that they always had the best qualified men that rose to the top. No girls, no unqualified diversity.

Thats cool, might want to be careful up in New York though.
This would make a pretty good movie.
I've got several of my WWII combat infantry adventures in writing. Does anyone know how/where I can get them read? (I'm 93 and it's 2019)
edgar valderrama Edgar what was your outfit and date of service? Theatre? There are many resources out there to preserve WWII accounts we can point you to

Thats pretty cool. Most of my family's history is around America and Europe.
