I hate 2024. I want to go back to the summer of 1987 and just stay there
You're existing in the year 2023 and you have to either enjoy it, or be miserable. If you want to only listen to 35 year old music that's your choice, but if it were 1989 you'd have to hope that the VCR doesn't eat your tape, and you remembered to edit out the commercials, because you have to wait a week for the next Headbangers Ball episode
Dude, can I go with you?🤘
@@Hecatecrossways I'm 59 today, enjoying life today, a Cancer prostate survivor not for much I hope, pretty sure about what I want, and you know what? I want to go back to the 80`s and stay forever there.
@@JoseLuisGarcia-wl6vo Hopefully your health problems are over. Can't blame you for not liking the way things are in this day and age. I don't really like it either, but good luck and good health to you
This is the truth and the truth and the truth..........
Hail Gen X.
Amazing atmosphere that can never be replicated. Never will there be Oliva brothers introducing White Lion and Leatherwolf in this world again.
The very LAST generation that still had a pair....
I was in high school from 1987-1991.
This is literally my era. Lol.
H-B played in the background of many a house party.
Really takes me back. F**k, when did we get old. Lol.
We are the cool generation. We don't age. Ahahahahahaha
RIP Chris Olivia.
Hall of the Mountain King is an epic album 🤘🏼
I❤80'S ...🤘😛🍺
Best era ever❤
Hell yes it was!❤
Omg so many memories of sneaking out after my parents went to bed on Sunday night to watch this 🤘
Thx for uploading
Keep Rocking 🎸brother & Thanks for Watching 🍻
One year later and this whole scene and style would get knocked out of the mainstream by grunge.
Yep I still get a bit growly anytime I hear a grunge band...it certainly messed things up but are they around now??nope.js
Exactly... the end of the guitar solo.
It never went away in our hearts, I’m 54 and still a glamsterhamster!!
It really didn't hit till 92'. Point made though.
Yeah. What's your point?
1987 best year ever!! Old Milwaukee beer, friends and great music. I miss the 80's.

This not 2023 for me it's still 1986 frozen in time that's why I never get old that's my secret in life
❤❤❤❤❤me too my friend

Awesome times! Met a few great bands, Exodus, Celtic Frost, and Nuclear Assault! So cool!
1990 was the beginning of the end for this music
At least on MTV!
1990 is the only great year of the 90's
Could you imagine being anyone of these people in 2023 watching you tube and seeing this and saying how the hell did I live through this and come out alive. It was just a different time that no one will understand unless they lived through it personally. A time that likely we'll never see again, but you never know.
So true...good times indeed, we'll never see that again...social media and smart phones ruined it. Had someone told me in 87 I would be saying "Leatherwolf Cryout" in 2023 into something called GOOGLE to hear the song, I'd of asked for a hit of whatever they were smoking...lol
You never know , history repeats itself.Never say never.
Those were days. Glad I was 23 in 1989.
22 here! Best times ever!
Lol I was 12 then...good times!
Fresh out of a 3 year stint in the Army & growing my hair back out in 89! Had no idea that an era of music was about to end. Enter the 90’s, grunge, and this odd looking band named Nirvana…..😳. Oh to be 22 again, have actual hair to grow, and realizing how lucky I was to have experienced the 80’s😎
I turned 15 in 1989. Loved the music so much better back then.
I saw Great White open for Night Ranger back in 1987. One of my buddies got on stage and actually sang with Jack Blades for about 15 seconds before the roadies threw him off the stage. I got hand slaps from Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson when I pushed my way to the stage. Great memories!
I miss the 80s for real
Me2🎸
They should be remastering HD music videos to look more like this! lol. Thanks for uploading the tapes so we can see these more obscure hair band music videos.
Thank very much for this!!
It's like rewatching the videos I recorded as a kid then playing them back.
Please keep the uploads coming!! Classic stuff
Hanging out in my buddies basement our senior year watching this eating 7-11 nachos. Good memories!
Sometimes it pays to scroll through at 3am. You stumble onto pure gold! Blast back to the past ,case of the beast and bag of red haired 😂. Thanks for this 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Thanks for watching 🎸🍺
This is great footage! Headbangers ball was awesome - I distinctly remember watching them play a Pantera video and then follow it with Winger or Poison .. I think they even played Bon Jovi at times 🤣🤣
Was that when Pantera were glam?
To my knowledge Pantera didn't have any videos out when they were a glam band from 1984 to 1988. Do you remeber what song?? What year? Was it a live video? I do have all of their releases and an old Washburn Slime Dime guitar from Dime bag himself, given to me in the 1990's it still plays and looks like its still brand new.
Leatherwolf was way underrated imo.
I ❤️Leatherwolf 🎸thanks for watching 🍻
Gotta be honest I don’t even remember a band called Leatherwolf or DRI
Damn I’m listening to the song by leatherwolf and it’s a pretty solid tune! I do not remember them at all though lol
THE GOOD OLD DAYS
Coming out the the potty wiping his nose haha I too have been on tour 😂⚡️
IT is funny how a guy hangs out at a party house for all the rockers and groupies in LA and then he is hosting a show on MTV. I would have loved that gig! For the chicks ... there will be rock!
Wow! Totally forgot about D.R.I.! Thank you!
D.R.I. Rules!
Nice time capsule 👍
Miss headbangers ball 😢😊,metal is alive and well
Holy crap I have not thought about Lord Tracy for fucking ever! I loved that song!!!!
Yep singer had been in Pantera Previous to that band !
@@cheeseguy4998 that I did not know!

Best MTV ever was Riki and Headbangers Ball. Period.
As an Aussie, the original "Rock n' Roll Outlaw" by Rose Tattoo is the best version.
This takes me back oh does it take me back!!
Thanks for uploading. I'm sure I have some VHS copies of Headbanger's Ball somewhere. Was listening to the music & gotta be honest, I don't recall many of these bands. "Bands that didn't make it"? Of course, MSG & Great White, White Lion & Faster Pussycat but some of these others I don't remember. "Going out with the boys"... gotta love those bicycle shorts. Hope you have more to share!
Saw Leatherwolf back up Vow wow...Leatherwolf were awesome
And Nole gets congratulations today!!!Music+sports=is the most beautiful thing I love....I also like the guys in this video, I'm their big fan, just like the #1🎾 in the world of tennis!!! 🥂🍾Cheers bro , today is a joyful day for me and my 💙 is full 🇷🇸🤸🏼♂️🇺🇸 🎸🎼🎤

❤80's
good times:)
I lived this era and had a great time, but I have to say that after watching this? Most of the music we listened to was crap!! lol
Love this sht ❤️
My senior year had some good tunes.
D.R.I . HAD GREAT SOUND !!
Gen X'ers were a harmless bunch. Crazy to see Jack White pre-Station-fire.

great years
KNAC.!.RIP Tawn Mastry ❤🤟
I think this era of MTV is more like en 1987-88. MSG and The Dudes movie Keel song were happening in '87.
your right its a mix of videos from 87,88,89,90 thanks for watching 🤩

The year was the best ..being 21 …. I just didn’t watch TV…
Damn that Herricane Alice vid was badass! (Not sure how DRI fit lol but wutevs

Great times
Indeed 🎸
yes
YES KIDS MTV once played videos all day ! but had to stop when the civil war started . not sure why but that was 160 years ago so who knows. that's why Pantera don't fly the flag anymore they lost the war. sure miss dime though.
No..The idiotic non reality shows started polluting MTV back in 1995 after MTV was sold to Viacom
Sigh, such a simpler time. \m/
Leatherwolf❤❤❤
Never take anything for granted
Great Advice 🎯
Damn I never heard of DRI till now ..this show is still responsible for turning people on to stuff they never heard 🤘. They brought this show back for s small time when I was freshman in h.s 2003/05 then took it off again....dumb move
DRI started as a hardcore band then took part in what was called "The Crossover" which involved some hardcore bands "crossing over" to thrash. This era of DRI was when they crossed over.
Que época.
When MTV was Music Television
I played 82to 91 thrash metal, cover and , bogarts in Cincinnati Ohio, best part of my life, grand children, ask pap,pal why do you have 20 piece pearl drums.bigger,, faster, scared of E.D ,rock and roll baby girl, long live rock and roll.

Thanks for watching 🍻
I’m waiting for Beavis and Butthead to appear as I’m watching this.
It really was all over by then. You can just see bands copying bands copying bands. Originality was in short supply and I love the genre.
Facts.
Being born in 71 I was lucky to have lived in the 80s. 🤘🏼☠️🤘🏼
After watching this I realized there were a lot of shitty bands.
Once you listen to Slayer everything else is elevator music.
Born in 71 as well, you're absolutely right
I don't even remember 98 percent of these bands, and it's obvious why, they all sound the same... cheesy as Hell.
@@johnnyscoundrel1 agreed
@@johnnyscoundrel1 It was so cringe, and so bad....but STILL WAY BETTER than the ghetto glorifying mumble rap garbage being forced on our kids today.
@@johnnyscoundrel1 MSG had big hits all the way till 1993, Leatherwolf also had big hits too, D.R.I is legendary band!!
You didnt get on headbangers ball and be a nobody band even in those times!! I know every one of those bands. Their down fall was grunge and bad timing to release a record. Savatage as well had HUGE HITS. I was hatched in 76 and yes I too listen to Slayer! Savatage turned into Trans Siberian Orchestra, Leather Wolf returned for 2 albums in the 2000's Faster Pussycat also came back for 2 or 3 albums. MSG broke up but 2 of their original members are LEGENDARY WORLD CLASS musicians! Guess you don't know music well enough grasshopper.
👏👏🎸🎼🎶🎵🤘
PAM STEIN ....playboy model ...she was the pin up in DIE HARD in the air duct clip
Awesome thanks for sharing 🎯
I miss this time but not the standard def images. Which HD would of been around.
Me too, thanks for watching 🍻
👍👍👍👍👍👍
MSG must have just gotten off the Hold Your fire tour with Rush? Or was this before? I saw that tour Nov 30-87
This headbanger’s era is really from end of 87-88.
Me, to 1972...
a lot of hairspray
..be ..neeattthhh theee wwwheeeelll...
DRI still rules!!!
Did he wipe his bum with gloves on?
1976
Anyone have any info on Rip who was hanging out with Savatage in the last parts of the video?
I think he was the Drummer 🥁 Dressed Up as the dwarf 👉dr kill drums👈But I’m Really Not Sure 🤔. Thanks for Watching 🤘
@@heavymetaljedi007 No, Rip was in Savatage's Hall of the Mountain King video. He's definitely not Dr. Kill Drums.
I found out he’s from England I’m not sure what his name was but he was not the drummer 🥁 in disguise 🤘
Girls seemed so much hotter than... But like any decade, some good and some bad!
Did Robin McCauley say Photoshop on drums?
Hurricane Alice reminds me so much of Steel Panther... Like a bunch \m/
Steel Panther was just a cover band who earned their living singing other people's songs, and singing songs that didn't make sense at all. They weren't considered a real band, Ralph Saenz did have a band called "Long Gone" that was a real band because those songs were originals and made sense Hericane Alice was a real band because they sang their own songs.
Criss Oliva introducing White Lion.Vito Bratta and Criss had many talks about their guitar tone back then. Two masters, two unique tones
Great comment 🎸 Thanks for sharing & Watching 🍻
😈🖤😈😤😤😤😤😤😤
Will someone who knows. Please tell me if the first video was a band that might have become Sepultura? Whoever they were they sounded like Sepultura.
Well it’s a thrash sound, so…yeah. DRI is a famous but lesser known thrash band. I’m pretty sure they tell you who the band is, what song it is, the album it’s on, and the label selling it in the music video, if you pay attention.
Dude, I totally noticed that too. It sounded like Sepultura's 'Schizophrenia' second LP, also released in 1987. Great ears hear alike apparently comrade. It's like you read my mind on that notion, or I read yours...
DRI started as a hardcore band then "crossed over" to play thrash.
God…forgot how bad some bands were but I remember how bad that Hurricane Alice video was.
Why did you delete/skip Wait from White Lion? That's the best song of this compilation.
Copyright blocked sorry , thanks for watching 🎸
Oh ok. Thanks for sharing. This was a nice time machine.
Don't party w/ Death? Why not? They were a great band!
Great white is a rock band.
Great White was a Hard Rock band
The Bangles was a rock group
That was the frustrating part of the ball. It gave us metal ww never saw on prime time, but the mixed poser hair bands in the line up.
Think that about sums up why it was time for hair metal to die.
This was the greatest show ever created for the metal scene. Riki was the best host because he lived the life and wasn't a poser. I do remember (because it is burned in my thinking meat) the episode that Riki was actually pissed off over a video that became the number one skull crusher of the week. It was a song from Trixter! I thought Riki was gonna throw his pool cue at the camera, LOL. I also remember when Rob Zombie came by and painted some really epic wall art for the set. I do wonder whatever became of it?
So many amazing and legendary metal acts were on the Ball, and it was awesome. Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Pantera, and the list goes on. To go along with the Trixter thing, why Bon Jovi, White Lion, or even Winger were on the Ball, they were SO NOT metal!
DRI???? I don't remember those dudes
Great thrash band just like poison was great glam band lol, I love all metal
2024 sucks!! 1984 was soo cool.
I miss rocker chicks with big hair.
Rocker dudes with big hair, not so much.
I believe is not a matter of which era is best, is a real comparison at my 59 I want to go back to 1980 and live forever the decade of decadence. I'm very happy now, but today we have no real fun, conflicts everywhere as well as Woke people, no real people, You have sex over the internet instead of place in front of a beatiful girl and die inside, Rob Halford are still a male as well as Freddy Mercury, and last but not least, we were a bunch of long haired weirdos sharing the pleasure of living.
I bought the Lord Tracy album when it came out and got to see them at a small club in Davie, Florida called the Plus 5. Just before they came on stage I ran to the bathroom. Next thing I know the singer is standing at the urinal next to me. We peed together...
Crazy 🤣 Times , dude I saw them at a local bar back in the day in Tallahassee Fl they were Kick Ass with lots of Fun! 🎸
Thanks for sharing your story 🍻
What the hell is wrong with you? Why would you even look at someone like that? Why did you even mention that? You actually think people want to read about people like that?
