    I have listened to this music for years now and never get tired of such a wonderful piece. It reminds me of my former years, happy and somewhat ambitious. Nowadays, as the years roll by, it still hits me with such emotion and sadness. Memories of my most treasured friends, none of them no longer here. 'Never forgotten, but fading memories.

      Brutally honest Doc. Hits me right in the gut. Rest assured that in the afterlife, you will once again see these treasured friends. One of the most beautiful pieces of modern music I have ever heard.

    This is the best version - the one that appeared on the Windham Hill 1986 Sampler LP. The dreamlike surreal playout that washes into the second half of is on another level. Beautiful piece of work.

    Isham's masterpiece, really moving and more after knowing the plot of the film, although I did not imagine it taking place in 1901.

    My Dad edited this film and originally used George Winstons album December as the backing track. Both Georges music and Marks worked perfectly but having now listened to this again it was a fantastic choice for the film.

    I have several of Isham's albums, on vinyl and cassette. Well the cassettes are gone, probably in a box in the basement. I don't have a player for them. Mrs. Soffel is one that we played in the car when traveling north for Christmas every year. It was especially good when there was snow on the ground.

    • @sarakrainak7758
      @sarakrainak7758 4 года назад +1

      My father would play this in the car on road trips to my late Grandmothers house during Christmas as well...very fitting season to enjoy such music. Reminds me of fall and hearing loons on the water while camping in Minnesota too... Take care. 😌

    This Film Score from MRS. SOFFEL is very beautiful and haunting. I Love It. Mark Isham is my favorite musician/artist of all time. Signiture trumpet that I can always recognize. Beautiful synthesizers and piano. THE CONSPIRATOR 2 CD set is a very beautiful film score among many, many others of course too. I started listening to Mark Isham back in 1986 when I first heard his song MEN BEFORE THE MIRROR on Windham Hill's Winter VHS and went out and bought Mark's VAPOR DRAWINGS album which was 3 years old in 1986. I was 19 years old then and I still love listening to Mark Isham's VAPOR DRAWINGS (1983) CD, Film Music (1985) CD The NEVER CRY WOLF, THE TIMES OF HARVEY MILK and MRS. SOFFEL soundtracks on that CD are beautiful both CD's on Windham Hill. WE BEGIN 1987 MARK with ART LANDE. CASTALIA (1988) which is my favorite CD from Mark Isham. THE GRACIOUS CORE with Mark's brother JOHN ISHAM on bagpipes is my favorite piece of music from MARK ISHAM The MARK Isham (self-titled) 1990. Both on the Virgin record label. Tibet 1989 which is not only on CD but also on Windham Hill DVD in 5.1 surround. Mark's Blue Sun 1995 CD and of course this great CLOUD ABOUT MERCURY 1987 CD. Mark's many many great film scores CRASH soundtrack is my favorite. A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT soundtrack. TROUBLE IN MIND 1987 soundtrack. POINT BREAK 1991 soundtrack. Besides his many great film scores. THE STEADFAST TIN SOLDIER music with JEREMY IRONS narrating along with the other Windham Hill children's stories music CD's Mark did. THE EMPEROR AND THE NIGHTINGALE music is brilliant. The SONGS MY CHILDREN TAUGHT ME is a beautiful collection of the Windham Hill children stories music without the narration only the music that he released on CD. I just can't say enough about Mark Isham. It all started with GROUP 87 with the great PATRICK O'HEARN that I love so much. Mark is awesome

    Different from the version on the Windham Hill compilation album - where I first heard it.
    Was surprised to find that Isham originally wrote "Love song for a ballerina" which George Winston played such a stunningly beautiful arrangement of (really one of those moments when simplicity works better than a thousand notes)
