girl your videos are so helpful!! i’m planning on attending davis in the fall and i had a quick question. what made you decide on the residence hall you’re currently at?
Thanks girl! I'm glad my videos are helping you! I personally decided to live in Tercero because of its close proximity to not only the STEM classes but also to the larger lecture halls where the majority of classes are held (Peter Rock Hall, Science Lecture Hall, Giedt Hall, Haring Hall, etc.). If you are in Segundo, you would most likely bike to those classes whereas in Tercero, you can walk without much hassle. Also, the style of dorm doesn't vary too much as compared to Segundo where some of the dorms are way older and look very VERY different than newer Segundo buildings. Tercero is also going to have a second DC next year as well, so hopefully the food will be better lol. Also, because Segundo is closer to Trader Joe's and Rite Aid, its also closer to the street so if your dorm in Segundo is close to the street, you're gonna hear more street noises (as you might have heard in my video during Michelle's interview in Segundo).
Pros of tercero: they’re newer, the bathroom stalls are bigger, we can manage our own AC(you can’t in Segundo, it’s controlled by idk who, but the point is you can’t adjust the temp), Science buildings are closer, we’re closer to the arboretum, closer to the cows and horses, and finally it’s just a lot nicer/prettier. Also Segundo doesn’t have any gender neutral restrooms, but tercero does!
TIA thank you so much making this video I'm incoming freshmen this fall and this helped me deciding my dorm! I love your editing style by the way especially your handwriting 🌷👏🏼
I’m thinking about going to Davis next year and thank you so much for making this video! It was super helpful and it’s nice to get an actual student’s perspective rather than what is just advertised on the website!
Thank you so much! Freshman room assignments came out today. Wanted Segundo or Tercero but ended up getting Cuarto so I had no idea wth I was getting in to. This video was freakin awesome so tysm!
Thanks for making this video! I plan on going to Davis this upcoming fall, and your video was really helpful and informative. I think I’m leaning towards Segundo. 😊
Great! So excited for you! Make sure to go to the housing page on the UC Davis website for more photos and videos of Segundo dorms (and the others as well). There are so many different layouts and I just want to make sure you check everything out before making a decision!
Hi again! So I recently committed to UC Davis and submitted my housing application, and I was able to make a preference about the occupancy of the room, but the application did not ask about a preference for residence area (Tercero, Segundo, Cuarto). Is that asked later on when you find a roommate? I was just wondering and I couldn’t find anything about it on the website. Thank you again for making this video and for being so helpful 😄
Nelly Garcia So you couldn’t make a preference for Tercero, Segundo, or Cuarto?? Because I was able to when filling out my application. The only thing you can’t choose is which specific building you want to live in (Potter, Gilmore, etc).
Thank you Tia, you’ve helped me with this video which residence to choose. Also, good luck in your classes if you are still enrolled in Davis. Hope I could see you there when I enter freshmen year.
That's awesome, I'm glad I was able to help in your decision making! Just make sure to go to the UC Davis website for even more details on the residence halls because I was only able to scratch the surface in my video.
I'm glad you liked it! If you want any tips on the application process, I have a video all about the UC application and my experience with it: ruclips.net/video/mNh0SbulQOc/видео.html
I'm glad this helped! Don't forget to check out the UC Davis website about housing for even more photos and videos because I wasn't able to capture all of each residence hall because within each, there is quite a bit of variance as well.
Do you know anyone who was not looking forward to having roommates before living in the dorms? And if so how did they fare? My daughter wants to live in a single but I am afraid she won’t integrate well that way. Any feedback is welcome!
I used RoomSync on facebook to find one of my roommates (you'll see roomsync pop up on the housing agreement form online as you complete it) and I actually originally wanted a double, but we were put in a triple and my other roommate was assigned randomly to us. but as you can tell, it's worked out amazing!
as for the bathrooms in tercero, I would say they are pretty similar to segundo. I would say the bathrooms in the newer buildings are a bit more spacious than in the newer buildings in Segundo, but not by that much, all of them are pretty tight. overall, you'll get used to them after about a week of living in the dorms
HeyItsTiasBeauty thanks! I’m planning on coming to Davis in the fall :) . Also, this is kinda random, but do you need to bring your own printer that I’m sure all your roommates use or are they available elsewhere ?
There are printers available in the computer lounge and you are given 250 sheets per quarter, but in Tercero, they do not print color (I'm not sure about the other residence halls) so if you plan on printing a lot in color, you might want to bring your own.
This is such a helpful video! From my understanding there are different Resident Halls within Tercero. I like the arrangement of your dorm and I was wondering in which Resident Hall it was? Thank you. :)
I’m currently a senior and UCD is my first choice so I have a few questions. Are freshman allowed to live in cuarto or has COVID affected that? Has COVID changed anything about dorming? Is living in Cuarto more expensive?
hey! im coming to davis this fall and i just had a quick question. in this whole vid you guys are saying how you got to choose tercero, segundo, or cuarto, but on my housing application that i filled out there wasn't a question for that. do you remember if you were asked which hall to live in after you filled out the housing form?
So I've been in correspondence with another incoming freshman and just learned that UC Davis isn't including residence hall preferences on the housing portal this year. I'm sorry that I might have given the impression that they do in this video, but that was only because my housing portal did have that preference last year and I was just going off of what I know.
This video is so informational and I appreciate all the great tips you give out to current and incoming students! Thank you! I also have a quick question! So I’ve been given the top bunk and I was wondering if you knew how to make myself more comfortable all the way up there?! Haha :)
Hi Mallale, scrolling through these comments and I happen to have been in that same place and know it can get pretty uncomfortable. I would recommend to get a lap desk (I got mine from Amazon), so that you can sit up and still use a laptop / write comfortably because I like to move from desk to bed pretty often. I also used the thing on the wall that you stick push pins in to have my own lights that I could turn on/off from way up there (make sure they use batteries.) The most helpful thing was a storage bin that could hang on to the edge "rails" (also Amazon) where I put snacks/a water bottle/anything you would need at night so you don't have to climb down too much. Hope this helps :)
@@mariavargas5141 Ahhh! Thank you Tia and Maria!!! This helps so much! I've been worried about being too uncomfortable since it won't be easing getting into bed every night anymore, and i'm so happy that i got helpful tips that facilitates the whole process! I appreciate it!!!! :)))
For anybody watching the video now, only 1 of the 3 halls in Cuarto has living rooms now, the other two have 2-3 room suites with 1-2 bathrooms (without a bathtub).
HELLO! I am planning on attending Uc Davis and I was wondering about parking as a Freshman Student. I understand that parking isn't allowed for Freshman and I am just freaking out since I really need a car for transportation. Any tips or advice you could give me?
Unfortunately, I don't know a ton about how to get around that rule, but I would contact TAPS (Transportation and Parking Services) and see if they can clarify anything for you. (taps.ucdavis.edu/)
I dont wanna live on campus as a freshmen..I love every other aspect of college besides dorms..I won't have room to take anything to college with me :( is there any possible way you can live off campus as a freshmen?
Hi Tia your videos are so helpful. My daughter is an incoming freshman and will be in a triple at Scrub Oak. Do you recall if your room had ceiling lights or just the desk lamps? Also was the single bed lofted high? She’ll be on the single but would prefer a lower height if possible. Thanks a bunch!
There was 1 ceiling light in the center of the room and each desk had a lamp. And you can adjust the height of the single bed! if you want to lower the bed, you can request help during move-in day. Hope this helps!
All the dorms have communal study rooms (only Cuarto has living rooms within the dorm). So I'm actually an Environmental Policy and Analysis major, but I do take quite a few science classes and I would say that overall, it's been pretty great so far. Because the classes are so large, you definitely have to take initiative to understand the material that confuses you, but there are a ton of resources (like tutoring in the residence halls, the tutoring in the Calc room, and South Hall) to help you if you need it.
Thanks so much for making this video, it helped a lot! I was wondering where you got your pink flower pants cause your outfit was rocking. Thanks again!
I'm glad you liked the video! As for the pants, I think I bought them while I was in Indonesia awhile back and I can't remember the exact name of the store I bought them from, so sorry :(
since you're an EPAP major, do you find dorming in tercero to be closer to your classes? I'm going to davis as an EPAP major as well, and I'm trying to find out which residence hall would be closest to my classes :)
Yes, I would say that Tercero is closer to my classes! Right now, as a freshman EPAP major, most of my major classes are in Peter Rock Hall, Science Lecture Hall (and Lab building) and Haring Hall which are very close to Tercero. During my fall quarter, all of my classes were along Bioletti Way which is only about a 4-5 walk from the dorms!
i’m not entirely sure, but i believe the process has changed since i applied for student housing and i don’t know if the option to choose which dorm is available. i would reach out to student housing and dining services for more information and check out their website
Can you talk about the international students and how that actually works? Is it harder to get into UC davis? I'd really aprecciate that and I'm sorry if my english is bad, I hope you understand me and I love your videos, they're really helpful!!
& Cuarto has a POOL, probably the community I would've chosen if I could re-do freshman year, but it's not difficult to sneak in if you know ppl there lol
I have a question since I’m considering Davis. If I were to move into Tecero would that mean I can only eat at that dining common or am I allowed to go to cuatros dinning area?
Which dorm should I go if I want to become a vet? I'm only 12 but I want to know as early as possible so I don't have to stress about it. Are everyone who wants to be a vet have different classes or something? I'm just very curious.
I hope to film one in the future, but as of right now, I'm only taking the pre-reqs and can't really speak too much on the major as a whole. I've definitely gotten other requests to film a video about my major, so I am definitely going to film one!
Thanks! And yes, I am freshman :) They do recommend that you live off campus your second year (nearly everyone does) and I hope to make a video soon about apartment hunting and the tips and tricks of finding an apartment in Davis!
Hello! I’m planning on attending Davis as a history major, I was wondering if you know how far the halls are for social sciences from Tercero? Loved the vid! Thank you!!
Most of the social sciences classes are held in what we call the "Death Star" (Social Sciences and Humanities buildings) as well as halls near the Memorial Union, so from Tercero, depending on how fast you walk, could be anywhere from a 12-15 minute walk or a 5-7 minute bike ride. However, there are history classes located throughout campus so it just depends which class you are taking. I'm glad you liked the video!
I know that you arent allowed pets but are reptiles and such allowed? Because their really really small, and I dont trust my parents enough leave them, also how far is quarinto from the vet building?
I don’t believe you can keep reptiles in the room (double check on the student housing website or call them up and ask). And the vet med center area on campus is closest to tercero. But there may be animal hospitals close by to Cuarto that i don’t know about, so i would Google Map some clinics close by.
no, it's not a dumb question at all! in tercero, there are no bathrooms within the dorm room, only cuarto buildings have those. tercero has communal bathrooms on each floor.
This video is really helpful! I wanted to ask about the smell from Tercero because I've heard from other students who lived there that because it's so close to the cows the smell gets really strong from the dorms, so what's your experience with that?
Joyann I really only smell the cows every once in awhile and it’s never really that unbearable. However, i’m not in one of the dorms that are much closer to the cows, so I’m not sure how bad it is for them. But for me, it’s never really been an issue.
This video is soooooo helpful! I'm attending davis this fall and Tercero is my top choice! were you able to request a residence hall or did you get tercero by luck?
Thank you! I was able to list my preferences for either Tercero, Segundo, or Cuarto, but couldn’t choose my residence hall. This year, the application is different for you guys though, from what I’ve heard.
@@TiaSettanni Yep I've heard that we don't get to list our preferences this year :( might try listing an LLC that's in Tercero though to boost my chances! Are you and your roommates in an LLC?
Hello, I am a perspective student for 2020 and I am leaning towards committing! However, I am holding back because of the financial aspect of going to UC Davis. How did you handle the financial aspect?
Everyone's journey with the financial aspect of college is different, and so the best resource would be UC Davis Financial Aid Office. I would talk to one of their staff about any questions you have regarding budgeting and bills.
I'm 12 too! For me is I'm turning 13 in October though and I also want to be a vet! How long did you want to be a vet for? For me, it seems impossible but I wanted to be a vet since I was 3 because I thought animals were adorable and I want to help them. I hope you make it and maybe I will see you there? IF I make it in 5 years or so?
Potatopuppygamer27 I’m 13 now but I’ve wanted to be a vet since forever I just want to make a difference I’m sure you will make it just keep working at it you will make it in this world I’ve already stared my journey by being certified in raw dog nourishment and taking Latin at my school my name is Ember what yours so I know to say hi when I see you there
I would say that it depends on your preferences. Honestly, I thought that I wouldn't be able to handle living with two other people, but I have found it to be great! I hear great things about the double rooms as well from people that I know, so I would say you can't really go wrong with either.
we don’t get to choose where anymore but they’ll let us know by the end of august i believe where we’re dorming and who we’re with (if you didn’t already choose your roommate) i’m an incoming freshman this fall!
@@anagyo5791 Just keep in mind that you can't choose the hall you stay in, but I personally really like any of the newer dorms in tercero (madrone, redwood, scrub oak, pine)
Hi! I had a question so you have a bunk bed so is your room a triple but no one else is in your dorm or are you allowed to have a bunk bed but live in a double room
i'm not totally sure, but i would guess yes? most doubles come with 2 single beds that can't be lofted, so you would have to talk to Student Housing and see if you could switch out to a bunk bed. i'm not totally sure though, so be sure to ask Student Housing or check out their website :)

Can u choose which residence hall u want to stay in?
This video was super helpful!
Thank you! I'm glad! :))
@@TiaSettanni woah tysm for replying!
Omg I lived in Tercero last year , this makes me so nostalgic :’)
hey, sorry if this is a dumb question! does tercero have a bathroom within the dorm room or are there communal bathrooms?
no, it's not a dumb question at all! in tercero, there are no bathrooms within the dorm room, only cuarto buildings have those. tercero has communal bathrooms on each floor.
Mama this video was helpful thank you so much to you and the girl for this 😃
This video is really helpful!
Devon Estes No, we didn’t get into an LLC (i didn’t put any LLC in my options).
Heyy! I just got accepted! Amazing videooo
congrats!!!! 🤩 and thank you so much!
Did you guys put in the curtains and rods for the closet yourselves?
Yes!
@@TiaSettanni what size curtain rod did you put in?
Aly G I wasn’t the one who brought the curtain rod, but i believe it was one that was adjustable in size so it could fit anywhere.
I’m 12 in a month 13 and I really want to go here because I want to be a vet
Potatopuppygamer27 I’m 13 now but I’ve wanted to be a vet since forever I just want to make a difference I’m sure you will make it just keep working at it you will make it in this world I’ve already stared my journey by being certified in raw dog nourishment and taking Latin at my school my name is Ember what yours so I know to say hi when I see you there
Would you recommend a double or triple?
I would say that it depends on your preferences. Honestly, I thought that I wouldn't be able to handle living with two other people, but I have found it to be great! I hear great things about the double rooms as well from people that I know, so I would say you can't really go wrong with either.
This is my dream college so thank you very very much!
aw yay, i’m glad you enjoyed the video!! :))
I’m trigger because there is not a primero
How do you guys deal with each other’s farts?
What do people mean when they say freshman 15
It usually refers to the 15 pounds people put on in their first year!
Does it smell cow poop or cow?
Does uc davis provide full scholarship for international students ?
Please reply ?
I’m not sure, I would look at the Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS) website and see if they know :)
How does housing get assigned?
we don’t get to choose where anymore but they’ll let us know by the end of august i believe where we’re dorming and who we’re with (if you didn’t already choose your roommate) i’m an incoming freshman this fall!
What is the best y’all for terecero ?❤️
*hall
@@anagyo5791 Just keep in mind that you can't choose the hall you stay in, but I personally really like any of the newer dorms in tercero (madrone, redwood, scrub oak, pine)
I was wondering how do yall decide which bed you want, first come first serve? or talk about it?
my roommates and i talked about it before moving it
Cuarto, las chicas más ordenadas
what’s ig of first girl interviewed lol
this was really helpful :))))) ty!!

Gdamn juggernauts 👀
