    I just got a model x refresh and this video just made me even more happy about the purchase. thank you for such a thorough comparison, including many things I did not know. driving this car really never gets old. I am also shocked how much power you get at higher speeds (and you nicely explained why!)

    After upgrading from my X100D to Plaid back in May, your thoughts are spot on. But dayummm this refresh is nice!! It just loves pushing up about 140, and the high speed handling with the torque vectoring is stellar for such a heavy car.

    Excellent review and comparison with the older X! Excellent level of detail! I did not know anything about the new X having a smaller form factor, but this is actually good. I wish you and your wife many happy and safe miles in your new X. (My only distinction for myself is, I have never traded a new car until it was at least 7 years old, so I would have kept my 2020 for a few more years.) I look forward to your next full self-driving review in your S Plaid when the next new release comes out.

    Good video… I know this came out 6 months ago, but I just looked at the dimensions comparing 2018 MX vs 2023 MX and they are exactly the same. I have a 2018 MX 100D w/76k miles and unlimited free supercharging and FSD and was tempted to get the 2023 MX after driving it but wasn’t really a fan of the yoke. I ordered a 2023 MX in Ultra Red with the black interior and a steering wheel. But I’m not sure if I want to give up the free supercharging and FSD (I use it some but mainly just use the basic autopilot features). What do you think about the no park assist stuff? The black exterior looks amazing and I’m on the fence between black and ultra red. Thanks again for the great videos!

    • @BlackTesla
      @BlackTesla  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching. There is a trade off here in terms of free supercharging. You can charge free at slower speeds or pay to charge at faster speeds. If you travel a lot it may make sense to keep the 18, but the new features, new comfort, and faster charging Trump free supercharging for us and made more sense to upgrade. In terms of colors you already know 🤣 but the red does look good. Go see it in person and go from there.

    • @StBernardFan
      @StBernardFan 5 месяцев назад

      I ended up getting the 2023 MX Blue/blk interior (it came into inventory). They let me transfer both FSD and free supercharging! The car is so much quieter and feels smoother and faster. I don’t like the steering wheel, might switch to the yoke. Also I’m not a fan of the seats, my 2018 MX the seats were fantastic. I’m sure I will get used to them eventually.

I am on the fence for a myriad of reasons, but this review definitely helps in clearing up some concerns. Thanks you should definitely drive one and get one they are great. To be clear the older X is NOT bigger it just feels bigger, not to say this one is small but it feels more precise than the older models more refined. If you are thinking about getting one now is the time to buy, massive discounts, free supercharging, free fsd beta, and Tesla Credits. I'd suggest ordering now to lock all that in, also consider using our referral code in the description of this video if/when you order, you need to place your order using the code to get the benefits 😎

    Thank you for this review. Extremely helpful. The comparisons you have done identify the practical reasons for upgrading. I have a 2020 MXLR with FSD and free SC. Other than the bi-annual Service visit to secure or replace door moldings for wind noise I have had no issues. I identified a 2023 MX demo with less than 50 miles and am going through the process. Waiting to see the trade-in value. Will cancel if the offer is too low. Think it is sad that Tesla will not transfer or enable FSD on an upgrade purchase and offer road trip SC. It is all software enabled.

I really like the changes your review points out, but it is a struggle having free SC and FSD and having to pay for EAP again if I upgrade - I would not pay for FSD again. Crazy thing, I don't remember thinking about the cost of fuel for any of the ICE cars that I have had.

    Excellent video! You pointed out so many things that one should consider, I learned a lot. I am going to be buying a Model X shortly. We have test driven the S, Y, and X and felt that the S made us feel a bit claustrophobic for some reason. Both the S and Y did not ride as nicely as the X and maybe that's due to the new enhancements. I do know that the new 2023 X's are arriving with the new 4.0 hardware upgrade that has been rumored to be near production. The one I test-drove had a 4.0. The new cameras had stunning views! The power was fantastic and got a big thumbs up from my husband who loves the fast "off-the-line" of his 6-speed manual sports car. Where do you get the detailed stats on everything that is in the car you are buying? I always want to know that upfront before the purchase is completed. The Specs that are shown on the Tesla pages are vague at best. The car and driver review was a bit better, but it didn't go into the nitty-gritty of the software and hardware. It should be noted that when you live in "very sunny" states like here in California, and other western states, an all-black interior can be a nightmare with the expansive glass roof! I've heard from other owners that lighter-colored seats are not that hard to maintain. I think the only things I disliked were the lack of a good side sun visor (I could feel my skin tightening going north on the 101 in the afternoon) and a larger front sun visor. Even though the front visor swivels in all directions you need to keep moving it more often. Any thoughts or comments on those seemingly small items? Again terrific review!

    • @BlackTesla
      @BlackTesla  Год назад +1

      Thank you the X is a fantastic vehicle and is the most comfortable Tesla to drive hands down. The front windscreen is large but has ample UV and sun protection from the built in tint that fades at the normal roof level allowing maximum visibility without compromising on impact from the sun. The sun visors on the side can be remedied with some legal tinting to the front windows. The stats of the car are all of what Tesla provides on the site but to experience them in person is totally different. For instance the base model X is tuned to be almost comparable to a performance variant Y so it's super quick, and has launch control. As for HW4 you will get that by default now but there is nothing that the car can do that will take advantage of the hardware at the moment. The only exception is the lack of ultrasonic sensors, this is something Tesla doesn't publish on their site and it means you will have reduced functionality until Tesla gets software that can accommodate the non-sensor cars such as autopark and summon. In the end just test drive the car you and your husband as much as you'd like to feel comfortable. I can say that you can't go wrong with any Tesla let alone the X.

    • @BlackTesla
      @BlackTesla  Год назад

      Radar was only removed from the 3/Y but has been on the S/X. However, the software may not be using them. Also this car has the ultrasonic sensors but as of mid-feb builds they are not on the X's. I think part of the discounts being given are to purge all of the USS cars so there is a clear line in the sand for non-USS cars.

      @@BlackTesla In this case I know exactly the car's story. I ordered it last September, received a VIN, and it arrived in January but with damage from transport. It sat waiting for parts at the service/pick-up center for several weeks. Last week it was finally ready for delivery, but in the meantime the "demo" sale price adjustment was done to other Xs in inventory. The agent said they could not adjust my price but hinted that if it were to be returned to inventory (by putting my order on hold), then it might get the demo tag which is exactly what happened two days later. I then added it back to my account and it's the same VIN as earlier.

    Ive owned 5 Teslas, two Model 3's, two Model Y Performances, and a 21 Model S Refresh. Im currently in a 23 Model Y Performance, which I do love. I keep seeing all these incentives to buy a new Model X, with HW4, etc., and am so close to pulling the trigger. My payment would take a big leap though, about 300/mo. Not sure if I can justify that at the present time, but damn... I sure would like to!

    Do you know if the 2023 version of the MX has solved (or mitigated) the issue with the half-shafts? When you mentioned the car sits lower, my first thought was that is an effort to reduce strain on the half-shafts.

      Thanks for the comment. It's the same dimensions but it feels and looks smaller you have to see it in person and you have to have them side-by-side. Both cars were black and perhaps the chrome delete contributes to the look.
