Excellent detailed analysis and breakdown of how to play the keys which I have found very helpful. I have already listened to many other explanations on RUclips and this is by far the clearest. Thank you
I appreciate this. Thanks! That little detail of respecting the distance from the key top to the bed has my fingers dancing freely. It's the little things that make a difference.
A very good and necessary lesson to play piano with less effort. Good technique is essential and will produce better sounding music. It's quite an important message - that's if you care about your hands and the quality of the sound! He knows what he's talking about.
The rebound comes from action, not neutrality. Only action creates meaningful reaction here. Passivity makes for a collapsing and droopy hand. You don't have this bad habit yourself, but you're not accounting for what you really do to keep that stability and openness.
The fundamental problem is, how to push or weight on the keyboard, that's why you have all theses fancies positions on the chair, usually slightly inclined toward the keyboard. Because you can only push something that is below your body position, if you extend your arms too much forward you can't play consistently.
Sounds like that you have read the book the act of touch in all its diversity an analysis and synthesis of pianoforte tone - production by TOBIAS MATTHAY in he's book he mentions this problem often and also a myriad of other problems in piano playing, this is a book that I would recommend to any serious piano playing artist teacher or student : First Edition was printed in December 1903 by Longmans, Green And Co. Reprinted May 1905" September 1911" February 1914" June 1916" July 1919" April 1921" July 1924" February 1926" September 1928" February 1935" October 1943" February 1945" keep up the good work and all the best to you my friend.
Relaxed hands should float like a butterfly sting like a bee. Some kids seem to do it naturally, adults are all tensed up about playing wrong notes. If you are like this, you need to see a good teacher and start from scratch.
@@philbarone4603 There are are lot of books and thesis on piano technique some I've read and most are are not very helpful. That's why I suggest consulting a good teacher and preferably a specialist in technique. It's difficult to put into words but the most valuable and simple advice I know is that you only use the minimum muscular effort required to play as intended otherwise remain relaxed with no opposing or extraneous tension in the hand or arm or body. Once keys are down cease the action (key stroke) to hold the key down requires very little weight which should be from the supported hand not the playing fingers which should now be in the relaxed default state. I've looked at Taubman and it certainly is a good way to play but some people insist that strong finger movement is essential.
@@p1anosteve thanks Steve, I studied for a bit with a Feuchtwanger student and it’s helpful. Now I’m studying with a Russian women who I believe is into sort of like strength training. Do you relax your leg and just rest down in the instant your foot contacts the floor while walking? No. You're missing the point here. It doesn't matter that tone already happened. You're contradicting your own point about stability by dwelling on this. Stability isn't a passive resting. You're conflating arm pressure and hand activity. There's no reason at all to be pushing on an actively connected hand. They are totally separable aspects and should not in any way be associated.

I've expended twice the amount of listening and watching with this video than what was necessary to understand a pretty simple concept.

Great video lesson!!! Thank you!!!🙏🙏🙏👍🙏👍
Thanks for the knowledge. I am starting to practice this new technique on C scales to get it right.
Thanks
That two principles, are the secret of piano playing... it tooks years for me to find out. in a way that no teachers told me theses significant tips.
Thanks Sir, but how to solve this common mistakes?
Thank you

I was very interested in this 'observasion' and was hoping since your hands were on the keys a short demo was about to happen sadly it did not
Wow thank you very much. I like your piano approach mindset than typical fast learning? You remind me of Ilinca Vartic Piano Career academy!
Hi! A great video!! Could you also make one on fluid technique in chromatic octaves in the right/left hand? That'd be very helpful!
Great! But how to keybedding in soft playing and more in speed soft playing?

Are you a teacher?
No Amy, just an observervation and a keen student of technique.
You’re dead on, I’m seriously injured because of tension.

Complimenti bravo
Sounds like good advice
A lot of words to convey thin info.
@tuputa madre He's right though, he could cut his videos in half and not lose any valuable info.

Typical in music. Same happens if you pay someone to teach you.

How do you play piano pieces with four or more staffs????
Are you talking about staffs (parts of the music) or clefs (the designation of the hands; treble and bass)?
Best than ever

And people with too big fingers will never get it. Mines for example, my third finger fits hardly between 2 black keys.
The hardest thing is to play fast and softly at the same time while you need to hit the keybed. I don’t understand this. Sooo hard
Many thanks for your good tipps.🙂👍

cziffra1980 Resting is not the same as collapsing. You need to rest, but still not collapse.
