    WIKI says, "BGI Group is a Chinese life sciences company that has been part of many controversies, especially regarding genetic data. One of these concerns one of the most popular prenatal test in the world, Reuters found out that it has been developed with the involvement of Chinese's army, People's Liberation Army (PLA), and has been used to collect genetic data from millions of women.[11] George Church, the co-founder of Nebula Genomics, has served on the BGI Group's scientific advisory board since 2007. In 2017, BGI established the George Church Institute of Regenesis, a research collaboration between Church’s lab and about a dozen staffers at BGI in China. On 18 February 2020, Nebula Genomics has also announced that has partnered up with BGI: the salive samples sent for decoding to Nebula Genomics are then sent by the company to BGI labs in Hong Kong for sequencing,[12] although nowadays Nebula Genomics states in its FAQs that the samples are sequenced in Europe.[13]

    Hi cousin. Thanks for this interesting video which I spotted about 2 hours after I had ordered my own Nebula kit and about 20 minutes after my second email complaining to Nebula that in my order confirmation they had got my name wrong and were intending to ship my kit to the wrong name. That certainly does not inspire confidence. I’m sending you a copy of the email separately but before they have even sent out my test kit I am worried about their data handling and data security. If they don’t confirm the correction and provide an explanation, I will cancel and ask for a full refund. I too chose Nebula for its links to Family Tree DNA and looked forward to getting comprehensive YDNA and mtDNA so it will be a big disappointment if I don’t feel I can trust them to continue and I hope this doesn’t happen to others.I look forward to your review when the link to FTDNA is working.

    Hey cousin Jarrett. Thanks for the great review video! I took the test in June (sent from Norway) and it took till October for my results to come.
    I hope that they keep their promise for the ancestry part, it was planned for Q2, then Q3 and now Q4 with little over a week to go...
    Yfull was able to define both my Y (Nunes Vaz!) and mtDNA final subclade. But as I checked my Y-STRs I was shocked. They couldn't type 14 out of the first 37 Y STRs alone!!! So perhaps this is one of the things why the ancestry part is taking so long? You can't compare with the FTDNA database! The number of reads of the Y chromosome was also considerably lower than the promised 30x, sometimes as low as 5x (when i checked the browser,, so I have my doubts.

    @geneavlogger The reason why I point this out is because we're dealing with haplogroups and not lineages, correct? That would mean that you, your father, brothers if you have them, and grandfather would all be placed onto one line, correct? Or would all of you be sorted out like an actual family tree? Each sample having its own line. You and your brother ( if you have one) would be on the same line leading upwards to your father. Then your father and his brothers doing thatsame thing?

    Thanks for sharing! I have a quick question, what happens when you type in AOC1? Does it show other genetic markers within that gene? For example (C47T)? I’m curious because I’m struggling with health issues and no doctors can figure it out. I also found out thru 23&Me that I have the celiac gene which I believe plays a huge role in all this, but not all of it, because my issues are with histamine. The genes mentioned above are linked to low production of DAO in the stomach, which indicates your body naturally makes less of the protein used to break down histamine. This will be key for me, because it will tell me whether the dietary restrictions are necessary long term, or just until I detox. Since I’ve felt sick for most of my life I won’t have anything to compare to, and don’t want to reintroduce histamine long term if it will just cause the same imbalances and immune issues later on. Obviously ill likely feel better after a detox, so at this point I’m curious as to how in depth this test can provide answers. I essentially want to know if by purchasing this, I am guaranteed to have my answer for the specific genetic markers mentioned above or not....(ability to see a genetic marker within another genetic marker)

    Actually is incorrect to say that nebula genomic is partnering with family tree dna at least not yet, is suppose to be in 2021 and they haven't start yet since i been talking to FTD and this is the answer that they gave me:
    "Thanks for your response.
    Tough there are currently talks with partnering with Nebula Genomics, that hasn't taken place yet.
    So, if you test with them it will not be affiliated with us."
    , so as i mention also to them is quite misleading that nebula g. is advertising something where at the moment is been just talked and not yet confirmed.
    "I understand. Checking their site, I do see they mention partnering with us, but do say that it's 'coming in 2021'."
    so if your post is from 2020 i think the company publish something correct from quiet sometimes and i don't understand why.

    I just purchased the Nebula DNA test because of this video! I didn't pay attention to the package I purchased and purchased the cheaper one. It stated it's not the full Y sequencing. I can always ask them to upgrade at later date. But will I be able to run it through the full Y with the basic or would I have to upgrade. Another question. On the haplogroups I assume the more defined it is the more recent the lineage. On average how recent is it do you think? Is it 1000 years, 500 years or even maybe less than 500? I matched with the Arpad Dynasty archeological dna digs which I found quite odd considering I am predominantly of Mexican decent with no ties to Eastern Europe. I would like to find put more through the Y full site. This is exciting to me!

    I have an odd experience with genome testing. It said I had deep and modern ancestry from Greek Anatolian. Another company agreed. Than I had a regular DNA test done with a 3rd company and it completely left out any Mediterranean heritage, but matched with my known genealogy. And then they updated my DNA analysis and it doesn't match my previous testing or my family tree. It's become very confusing. I'm considering a fourth company to compare.

      @@mbr6198 The jury is still out on establishing how smart Neanderthals were! It is a big unknown but the science says (Keep in mind the topic of this video, the science is what we know) modern humans have bigger cerebellums, which drives speculation that modern humans are better at accessing long and short term memories & our speech is thought to be better. Knowing this you can easily see why this would be a downfall of the Neanderthal.
      However, overall intelligence of Neanderthals could be greater than modern humans. To put an analogy out there (everyone reading this please forgive me). It is technically possible that Neanderthals were a society of people akin to a society with widespread Aspergers Syndrome; you can see how this might not work in a hunter/gatherer situation but in modern times they may have thrived. EQ/IQ discussion all over again. Maybe they were highly intelligent but terrible at hand-eye coordination. We simply don't know.
      Stupid analogies aside, we don't know how smart Neanderthals were, or how this intelligence manifested itself, but one thing is for sure, the idea that they were dumber than modern humans is no longer supported by science.

      LOL, brain volume doesn't necessarily directly map to intelligence. I would worry more about synapse and dendrite reinforcement, and that can only be enhanced through analitically using the brain!

    the yfull results take it down to a small enough subclade (R-A961) that the heat map only included me. The one above (R-A968) has a heat map centered around Cardiff, Wales which make sense for a Davis. Also, the last names associated with the R-A968 were variations on Davis.

    Unfortunately, even with the most expensive ultra-ultra-ultra-deep sequencing from Nebula Genomics, there were a TON of genes they didn't sequence and a TON MORE genes they give "insufficient sequencing depth" results on for me. I've also since been resequenced by a highly reputable tester (Invitae) that gave EXTREMELY different results for cancer predisposing syndrome, so I'm VERY disappointed that I wasted several thousand dollars on testing with Nebula. !

      You would not be able to determine whether your family carries the gene except through a male relative such as a father or brother. I was told of a woman without brothers and whose father was niftar who persuaded a male cousin to get tested. Through the testing, she was able to confirm that the male line in her father’s family has the gene. The cousin’s father was a brother of her late father.

    QUESTION:
    I have been having some strange symptoms the last year and a half, and all labs and scans have been normal, but the symptoms are debilitating and none of the specialists can figure out what’s going on. So my question is, do you think this test would be useful in finding possibilities of diseases/disorders that could be causing the symptoms? I’ve heard mixed things on these genome tests and it’s all very confusing to understand, but you seem pretty knowledgeable in them, so would this test help figure out what could be causing my symptoms, and is there another company that you would recommend instead?

    • @nicholeann2886
      @nicholeann2886 Год назад

      From what I have read about Chimera, is that samples have to be taken from many sources/parts of the body to be detected. Since this only tests one area of the body it is highly unlikely for it to detect chimera.

    If I may ask, does this differ from 23andme and other similar company who use microarray SNP technology to identify your ethnicity. This is completely new to me. Is there other companies who also do the same like this, I mean whole genome sequencing? But I feel worried to do whole genome sequencing, although, I guess, it will ultimately identify if I have predisposition to diseases or not. Thank you for the video and pardon me if my questions are irrelevant or not to the topic of the video or very naive. Also, one more question, does the company offer the option to not put my sequence as public? Mohamed

      @TheDanEdwards 2 года назад +1

      "If I may ask, does this differ from 23andme and other similar company who use microarray SNP technology to identify your ethnicity. " - yes, it's different. SNP tests usually test around 700 thousand locations in your genome, rather than the full 3 billion.

    Which type of test should I take ?

    • @GeneaVlogger
      @GeneaVlogger  3 года назад +2

      You'll want to take any autosomal DNA test (Ancestry DNA is good) or a Whole Genome Sequencing kit (such as in this video). You can upload results to multiple matching databases (Gedmatch, FTDNA, MyHeritage). You'll also want to try and get any relatives who also descend from that great-grandfather, including your parent, aunts/uncles, grandparents, or cousins. If this great-grandfather is your purely paternal grandfather (your father's father's father) then you should do a test which includes Y-DNA testing and matching. Either a WGS like Nebula or an FTDNA Y Test. Y-DNA tests focus specifically on your purely paternal line, including matches.

      They promised a report based on full genome, and state "in addition we partner with FTDNA" for deep ancestry (Y and mtDNA).
      This is misleading, because they didn't give me any such report. They state that I will get a Family Finder report at FTDNA (so not in addition but instead of).
      If I am correct, that means comparing only 612k autosomal SNPs. Thereby, FTDNA doesn't have a very large database to find matches. And I have to see that they fulfill their promise, as it has been postponed for more than a year now.
