My dad used to have a caprice in navy blue color back in 1996 in Saudi Arabia. I still remember its power and smooth ride when he used to drop me to school. Brings me old memories :( Nice video and definitely worth watching the mighty Chevy.
Just got a 96' black B4U. 105k Miles from the original owner! Thanks for sharing, this is a beautiful car. The engine bay looks emaculate! Happy driving 😎
@@thatgaming3006 That's the bad part, but the mechanical fan does keep things cooler than the electric fans, which the B4U package also has(1 electric fan that is, in addition to the mechanical fan).
@@jasonrogers6346 Yes finally somebody that agrees with me and understands that horsepower drop. Torque went to 310 foot pounds also. People just like to believe what they want to believe and then they close their ears.
That’s one clean ride. I’m looking at buying one of these. Looks just like yours. But not in as good shape. Your video showed the perspective I was needing. Thanks.
I have a 1996 Caprice with the LT1 that I purchased new. Currently has under 20,000 miles & the original Good Year RSA Touring tires. Reprogrammed ecm with a Hypertech; took it up to 140 mph one time. Not bad for a true, full size vehicle.
I’m kind of skeptical. The rubber would’ve went bad after 25 years. It really would be safe to go down the highway with 25 year old tires. Also at 108 mph the car would stop accelerating. The car is actually rated at 250 SAE horsepower and 310 foot pounds of torque. The V08 cooling option with mechanical fan takes away horsepower and torque. The impala and the police 9C1 both came from the factory with electric fans and were thus rated at 260 horsepower and 330 ft lbs torque. The Buick roadmaster and the Cadillac Fleetwood and Cadillac Fleetwood all came standard with the LT1engine and electric fans. The V08 mechanical fan heavy duty cooling was an option on the Cadillac and the Roadmaster. If you ordered a non police Caprice with the LT1, it automatically came with the V08. No non police Caprice cars came with electric cooling fans. The caprice with a LT1 was seen as a hauling vehicle for the family. so they just gave every LT1 the heavy duty V08 mechanical fan option, whereas the Buick and the Cadillac were seen as something luxurious with more power. That’s why they offered the roadmaster and Fleetwood standard electric fans for more power. Cadillac and Buick were a higher grade vehicle so they gave them the option if they wanted to have electric fans or the V08 mechanical fans. No options such options for retail Caprice.
There was one secondary electric fan on any caprice Cadillac Fleetwood or Buick roadmaster equipped with the V08 mechanical fan heavy duty cooling option.
I just bought a Blueish Green 1995 Caprice 9C1 with only 130K original miles government owned and will have it sometime next week delivered to my lot. 5.7L V8 super clean no spot light and no antenna holes. Anyone interested look me up Maysan Auto Sales LLC. very hard to find direct from the gov agency and sold exclusively to dealerships.
Tinting windows saves interior get hood plugged, drop SS grill remove red stripe. All plastic door guard rubber, paint all chrome black except window chrome. Get rear spoiler and impala trunk emblem, quarter window impala emblems. Make impala non SS they never made.
This Caprice has an external transmission cooler. Essentially their is a second radiator just for the purpose of cooling the transmission. More than likely that is the reason the fan is setup the way it is. :)
I have a 95, Texas Highway Patrol 9C1 LT1 B4U. It'll cruise at 130, you won't even feel it! Only problem, Optispark, what was Chevy thinking? Still love it!
You’re full of shit. The 9C1 police units did not get B4U. B4U was for retail LT1 Caprice only-Along with the Buick roadmaster and the Cadillac Fleetwood
The G80 code is for "Limited Slip" or AKA "Positraction". The B4U code is a Package. The Caprice Classic LT1 and B4U package includes many specific RPO items, sych as coil springs, shocks, a heavy-duty cooling system with mechanical fan, FE3 sport suspension. B4U codes are slightly rare, only a little over 9,000 were made.
Silly Stuff Productions that’s awesome thanks for that. I just bought a 1994 b4u, g80 codes in the trunk like yours. I only wish I found one with low mileage like your 96.. I’m super jealous but enjoyed watching your review great video
@@gr8livn You are are very welcome, Sir. Congratulations on the "New" 94' :) Getting another vehicle is always exciting. I'm sure with the proper care and respect for your car, you'll keep it alive forever. Good luck and definitely enjoy that car.
You have correct information :) I simply miss typed a key when I created the videos description. It should read as 270hp. The extra 10hp was gained through an all round tune-up, new air intake filter, trans fluid, Royal Purple synthetic motor oil and updated or upgraded software. The update or upgrade was done by a master mechanic with his own computer setup in his personal garage.
@@sillystuffproductions1815 I’m sorry to break your day but the car only has 250 hp from the factory brand new. That’s because it has the V08 heavy duty cooling option and mechanical fan. To run that mechanical fan draws horsepower and torque. You are so full of shit if you think you’re getting 20 hp from a tuneup and and oil change-Even with a cold air intake.
Oh yeah man that’s one hell of a tuneup and oil change if you get 20 extra horsepower out of a 24-year-old car car with engine of same age. Don’t be a bullshitter. Tell it like it is.

I have the same one. Mines got 350k miles and still runs like a dime.
I had a black Impala SS with 43k miles. It was a nice car. Looked great.

very nice car. i love caprices. plan on buying a 96 as a project next week.
Love how the bowtie on the trunk lid lifts up like that.
The LT1 in the caprice makes around 260 horsepower.
Nice car man. All original. Need a new hood ornament though.
Yep and with the mechanical fan, it drops down to 250 horsepower.
@@jasonrogers6346 whoa. I didnt know the fan lowered the HP
