Well...having learnt from your latest video that Wayne is no longer with us, I chose to light up candle and say a prayer for Wayne while watching this video. RIP Wayne. Now I'm going to check his website.
I've had the idea to just reuse old furniture as well. I have no building experience at all. So glad to see my thoughts in actual action. It's so doable. Thanks Bob & Wayne.
My heart is broken hearing of wayne's passing... However, he had this golden opportunity to live a life of FREEDOM in his sweet van! God bless you our sweet friend, what a blessing it was to see your easy chair and all of your comforts! 💘💞💕🏜️
Sure is. At first I didn't think I would like all the glass but he makes a very good point about the view from the inside and all the light it lets in. Mind changed ;-)
Another great interview again Bob, I went to Wayne's site to see his build and it was sad to see his Dad died on 22nd June, just 8 days before you posted this video. Sometimes things happen for a reason. Take care Wayne and love to a lovely sincere man. Big Hugs from Australia 🇦🇺
This is one of the absolutely coolest builds ive EVER SEEN. From a total low budget, no budget standpoint this guy kills it. From “L” brackets to unmatched thrift store finds...the front seat recliner; He captures the essence of how this is pozed to be done...In my opinion... However let me add... get some ideas as to how much your gonna spend, what you MUST have, what you want, and your ability to install these items I would give myself about a year of gathering up stuff, fleamarket’s ,garage sales, thrift stores , you’ll save so much money of course they’ll be a few items that you’ll have to buy new but honestly everything that you want to put in a thing to live in could be scrounged up in such a way that your costs could be very low .that’s the direction I’m going in right now . I’ve got stuff in my garage that I’ve squirreled away for When the time comes I put something together. And granite ,they’ll be some stuff that I won’t use, but that’s cool ,can’t wait to get started.
I just finished a week of volunteering in a long term care facility and the number one most treasured item moved into the clients' rooms? Their easy chair. You will miss it when it's gone - this is a great idea. I'm already a furniture rescuer - this opens up my thinking a bit about how soon I can do the van life - thanks for the inspiration, Wayne. RIP.
My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Wayne 2 years ago in Salida, when we were actually there to meet up with Randy and Kat. He's such a lovely person, and his van is one of my favorites. Thank you Bob for another great video. Perhaps, soon, I will be able to meet you too. Love you Wayne.
I love the easy chair. That's exactly what I was thinking of trying to do if/when I start my van build. Same goes for the thrift store furniture since I can't build stuff.
I love that layout! I know almost all people seem to leave the back open and accessible, which is understandable, but it’s really nice to see the space being used (for something besides a bed)!
I am sad to never have met him in this lifetime. Went thru the same intense pain as well as horrible doctors and horrible western medicine care. would have shared what non traditional modalities impacted my life, my quality of life amazingly (was sceptical!), and how was able to earn certifications in order to help others through these modalities. Just found his books and heard his interview today and felt a strong resonance and connection, and then more so when learning about what he went thru. Hope you are doing well, my friend. Sending love to you.
Oh no. I just read a comment that Wayne isn’t with us any more. Prayers for his family and friends. He seemed like such a great guy. I am glad he was able to live like this. The view from his easy chair were so pretty. Rest in Peace, Wayne
I hope you don't mind that I posted a link to Wayne's book. I watched this video in the past, but having lost my mom this year has made me see, evaluate & appreciate many things differently. I look forward to enjoying and learning from his book and his spirit reflected within it.
Hello Bob, after watching ur interview with Wayne, I was going to go to his website and ask him a few questions about his setup, but read comments 1st and found out what happened, I’ve had many losses n my family, and even though I don’t know Wayne, it saddens me, he appeared to be a really nice man, out of all the setups, I like his the best and I would like to copy most of it though I doubt his build is still up. I wished I was around to have talk him out of it. Thank u for keeping this video up, I know it saddens u as well.
Awesome video Bob. Wow, what a set up. Re-purposing items is the way to go. I love the set up. He could strip that van in a heartbeat and make any changes.
Love the Concept you can achieve the Van Conversion Lifestyle by Repurposing existing House Furniture into Van Life. Gives the feeling of Home away from Home. Gives another Option that is achievable and for some on a Limited Budget. GREAT JOB !! 👍😇🙏
Way cool. Perfect for the un-handy. It looks much more comfortable with real furniture! If I take out my utility trailer, & turn it into a house, I'm bringing fav pieces of furniture & my love seats! They're so comfy & are built on oak frames.
Very impressed with the Nissan 2500 and the room it provides on a solid truck chassis! Nice layout - some questions remained about the shower and bathroom, but I can see how one might add this in. Excellent video and thank you both for sharing!
I have my van and start my build in August - this has been the most helpful video I've seen. Systems I understand.... but carpentry scares me. I had been thinking of recycling some furniture and now I know it is a good option. Thank you and Wayne so much.
This is my approach as well, I am attracted to the environmental aspect to this life. I will not knock down a forest in lumber to build out a van.... To each their own but I am not very materialistic, I know some people cant escape that.
I like the idea that he didn't do so much carpentry work as others have wasted time building custom. Great idea to just bolt down preexisting furniture.
I especially like the recliner. I have the gravity feed water dispenser. I got the first one free when my employer replaced the ceramic dispensers with fancy stuff 10 years ago. I bought a second one at the thrift store for $3. I like these no build setups, quick and easy.
In the End it was his personal choice to leave, although personally I am saddened by it... He also contributed to our cause and he could have kept leading us by these 'Cheap RVliving' examples. We looked up to him too as an inspiration in this Lifestyle Choice. Loved the way he repurposed those cabinets! His build is along the lines of what I would love to do, I would just paint over the cabinets and some of the trimmings the same color (light gray? white?) to give it a little bit more decor and uniformity plus try to match it with some of the fabrics, ceiling and floor. I learned from a former ex-GF how to buy and repurpose cabinets by sanding them and painting them. Many of the older ones are of a REAL WOOD Quality with solid and reliable cabinet/drawer hardware, not the IKEA/Walmart/HD cheap junk.
wow, I've watched the people converting the vans and thought that I could never manage to build them, but seeing this one built with ready made dressers, etc., I have to think that I could do it this way. I never thought of building it this way but I must say that I love it :)

This was a good example for people that are not handy with tools or don't do much carpentry work. Anybody can set a van to live in even if they can't do carpentry.
What a great idea to use ready made furniture, and that very comfortable recliner. Only thing is you can't take a passenger, as the recliner isn't solidly fixed to the floor and has no seatbelt. Minor detail and without any importance if you're only travelling solo.

I love this build. Its very simple and Easy. If I did this I don't think i would insulate the walls. I LOVE BEING COLD and being in the cold. Considering i am from the PNW. BUT maybe a couple reflectixs in the windows or a thermal curtain that keeps the heat out and the cold in. NOW I just a need a cheap enough Cargo Van to test it out and see if i could do this. I hate dealing with people so maybe it will be a perfect fit for me.
Man, I live Waynes van. I love that he kept it light with canvas totes. Sorry to hear of his passing. He seemed like such a great guy. That smile.
Oh no, so sorry to hear of this!

Can you give information about your RV pump in your sink?
Rest In Peace, Wayne - great spead in your journey.
NIkkita P ohhhhnooo!
Oh no ! what happened to him ?
He chose his own time and place.
What a nice guy Bob- He will be missed RIP Wayne.
I converted this same van model into a tiny home on wheels. It’s the only van I wanted and it’s awesome
My heart is broken hearing of wayne's passing... However, he had this golden opportunity to live a life of FREEDOM in his sweet van! God bless you our sweet friend, what a blessing it was to see your easy chair and all of your comforts! 💘💞💕🏜️
I've wondered about putting some kinds of furniture in a van. Good to know you can. Another great one Bob!
What a lovely man. I love his build. From other comments I see he has passed away. Rest In Peace my friend I’ve never met.
Wow that is simple, logical and comfortable. I really like it.
What a great build. Love the recycle of the furniture.
Sure is. At first I didn't think I would like all the glass but he makes a very good point about the view from the inside and all the light it lets in. Mind changed ;-)
My type of build i dont think ill bother making a bed frame, Rest in Paradise Wayne your spiritual adventure is just beginning.

This is still my all-time favorite, Bob. Glad you were able to transfer this video to your new site.
I love the easy chair. That's exactly what I was thinking of trying to do if/when I start my van build. Same goes for the thrift store furniture since I can't build stuff.
I'm planning on using closet racks instead of cabinets thanks to him. RIP Wayne.
I love that layout!

Love the chair
I've been waiting for a tour and interview of a Nissan van. I'm curious to know about 'em. Perfect timing, thanks again!
Oh no. I just read a comment that Wayne isn’t with us any more. Prayers for his family and friends. He seemed like such a great guy. I am glad he was able to live like this. The view from his easy chair were so pretty. Rest in Peace, Wayne
I'm thankful for Wayne and his example. Great guy.

Wow so sad , what happened to him he looked a healthy man !
WOW ! Very nice. I love the simplicity of this van build......
I like what Wayne has done with his van
I love how uncluttered this build is.
Awesome video Bob. Wow, what a set up. Re-purposing items is the way to go. I love the set up. He could strip that van in a heartbeat and make any changes.
I like that about it too Dave, remove a few screws and you could use the van for anything.
I would have loved to have known this gentleman. RIP SIR!
RIP Wayne, thanks for your service to our country, and I hope to met you someday in the afterlife.
Cheap. Simple. Easy. Effective. It just doesn't get much better than that!
Agreed!
RIP dude.
Thanks for all of your contributions!
Inredibly simple yet effective set up!
THANKS Bob and Wayne for Nisson van tour. Wayne ya did good. Me like windows also. . Safe travels to you both
This is great. I dream of fixing a van like you did with using furniture. Thanks for sharing.
Very well made Sir. This is in the top 10 on my list of well rounded videos since you and (no names) went your own artistic directions.
Great layout and build! Very simple, yet creative.
Absolute brilliance---this design and man who created it! ---I can see why you were good friends Bob.
I came here to see a sweet nissan nv2500, watch the vid, decide to read some comments to find out that the owner is passed on, this sucks! Rip 🙏
Hi Bob I loved this showing people it can be done simply and cheap
Recliner! Excellent. Necessary for me: I sleep in a recliner and it’s a comfy writing chair. I like this layout, too. Thanks
👍Very simple & adequate. You cross paths with so many interesting ppl and van builds. Thanks for sharing. 🤗💞🤗
Thanks for another great video, Bob. Hope all is going well with you and your family.
I think the furniture makes it feel homeier.
I agree! I think he said he got the dressers from his parents? Nice to have some memories along for the ride!
by far the best setup. easy, affordable, 360 windows
Thank you Bob! I really needed to see this. A build I could do. It gives me hope. :)
Such a nice guy... sorry he's gone. RIP
oh no ! what happened to him ? why ?
Rest in Peace Wayne!
so sad

Yes he had a beautiful home
I have seen this video before so sorry for your loss Bob God bless and safe travels
Miss you Wayne. Thank you Bob for sharing. I’m reading his book.
Way cool. Perfect for the un-handy. It looks much more comfortable with real furniture! If I take out my utility trailer, & turn it into a house, I'm bringing fav pieces of furniture & my love seats! They're so comfy & are built on oak frames.
Interesting, creative use of existing stuff. My only thing to add is that I find open bins store far more than drawers.
James, that's true but you sacrifice accessibility. I like custom dividers to help with that.
Great idea using furniture. Seems quick and easy. Absolutely love the recliner. I will do that too! Great video!
Very impressed with the Nissan 2500 and the room it provides on a solid truck chassis! Nice layout - some questions remained about the shower and bathroom, but I can see how one might add this in. Excellent video and thank you both for sharing!
RIP Wayne, You will be missed.
what happened to him? :(
Love Nissan vans, great job!
He definitely bringing home from home to travel
I have my van and start my build in August - this has been the most helpful video I've seen. Systems I understand.... but carpentry scares me. I had been thinking of recycling some furniture and now I know it is a good option. Thank you and Wayne so much.
Love how he uses furniture...Lots of great ideas...
Very cool. Nice build. Looks comfortable and everything a guy needs. --Mark
There would have to be a recliner in my van for bad weather days. I like how his faces rearward. Great idea
That's a revelation! Thanks Wayne and Bob.
This is my approach as well, I am attracted to the environmental aspect to this life. I will not knock down a forest in lumber to build out a van.... To each their own but I am not very materialistic, I know some people cant escape that.
Windows windows and windows for me is crucial to have plenty ☀️ light clever ideas thanks so much for caring 🎄🌹
I like the idea that he didn't do so much carpentry work as others have wasted time building custom. Great idea to just bolt down preexisting furniture.
Nice van, practical use with the furniture. Thanks Bob, I am beginning to feel I could do this someday.
I was thinking of tnis Nissan van. Thanks Wayne and for showing it Bob.
The Nissan NV is really an awesome van. The 1 and only thing its missing is 4wd.
Thank you so much for posting this video again Bob! Really like the Nissan Wayne! gives me hope that maybe i can do this!
great job Wayne!
I especially like the recliner. I have the gravity feed water dispenser. I got the first one free when my employer replaced the ceramic dispensers with fancy stuff 10 years ago. I bought a second one at the thrift store for $3. I like these no build setups, quick and easy.
Thank you for sharing. I will definitely look into the dressers for my van build. Great idea.
My favorite van! Lovely use of dressers.
Very nice!!! He's got great storage too.👍

Waaaaiit! We forgot the questions that always must be asked! 😄
Man I love that easy chair!
Nice build and used stuff is great and cheap. Just read further down of Wayne's passing so sad.
I really like what he did to his van. I am sorry he passed away.
wow, I've watched the people converting the vans and thought that I could never manage to build them, but seeing this one built with ready made dressers, etc., I have to think that I could do it this way. I never thought of building it this way but I must say that I love it :)
Brenda absolutely anyone could do this! Reusing furniture like Wayne has only requires a good tape measure and some brackets!
wow, he left this earth not long after this interview
Wayne Gordon Wirs, age 57, died near LaBarge, Wyoming on August 31, 2017. He was born on May 3, 1961 in Hialeah, Florida, the son of Edward and Nancy (Mason) Wirs.
great place to leave this earth. cocopuff complications maybe?
I love the way he thinks.
all removable if need be. I could clean my van out to carpet floor in 15 minutes.
I love it! Thanks Bob and thank you Wayne.
Thanks for watching Sra. It was our pleasure!

Jeff Thompson certainly you do because you bothered to jump in the comment section without any input.

Love your setup!❤
LOOKS LIKE A WORK VAN!!! NICE SET UP!!!🏜🏜🏜🏜
appreciate this video especially because this is the kind of vehicle I have been thinking of getting .
wow that is totally a comfy build 😎👍👌🌻
