    I loved this moment so much - it immediately established just how powerful and villainous Farouk, but also you have to love him anyway as he has so much charisma it might as well be his other superpower. Every scene with him in this season has been one of its highlights.

      Farouk is a father figure to David, Legion heavily depicts a Oedipian narrative

    Going back and watching their interactions, you can see Farouk meant what he said. In his own twisted way, he trully cares about David and is trying to mold him into what he sees himself as: a god.

    • @qwertyCandy
      @qwertyCandy 6 лет назад +22

      Christopher Cano Exactly. After rewatching the finale for several times, I think this is one of the reasons why Farouk supported the trial against David - he knew that David likely won't allow another psychiatric treatment, but by putting him in this position Farouk made it so David HAD to use his powers, he HAD to get them under control and use them as freely as a god would, it was either that or death. And now he wants nothing to do with anyone from Division 3, he's much stronger than before, and seems to have given up on at least most of his morals... Which is exactly what Farouk wanted for him the whole time, to embrace his full potential, and hopefully also listen to Farouk now that he's disillusioned with everything...

    Navid Negahban had some huge shoes to fill. For an entire season we had the horrifying inhumanity of the Devil With The Yellow Eyes and Aubery Plaza's Lenny being both terrifying and incredibly entertaining. The "real" Farouk could easily have ended up being a wet slap next to those. But he knocked it out of the park instantly!

      It's absolutely a comic book show AND art.
      It's the closest I've ever seen a TV show come to the "British Invasion" or "Vertigo" era of comics with writers like Grant Morrison, Alan Moore, Jamie Delano, Neil Gaiman and later Warren Ellis.
      And that is despite the "Legion" property itself not being part of that era as such. Even though Bill Sienkiewicz is the artist equivalent of some of those writers' mind bendy style.
      In any case I wouldn't be surprised if Noah Hawley took inspiration more from Morrison's 'The Invisibles' and 'Doom Patrol' than any Legion comic when writing the show.

    Oh shit I see this show so much clearer now after some events happened.
    David ultimately learns the truth and decides to start over while Shadow King agrees to start over but just chill a bit with everything he's learned and hope to be better.
    The ultimate reality warp is that (metaphorically speaking) life is a comic book with many spin offs but One true timeline.
    We're all the same actors playing different roles again and again. Some rest in the light, some rest in the dark, and others Journey. Its the struggle.
    The all seeing eye is the "i" in me that thinks it's "The I" that is the I AM. Cosmos started and will end. There's infinite eternities in between every moment, and there is the past. The moment we're in seems to indicate another 5 Billion years of time before timelessness then the End gets wobbly wobbly.

    Kinda wish we got more of an explanation how this well-dressed, composed, cultured man is also the tattered corpulent Devil with the Yellow Eyes from Season 1. Or even the sensuous, manic faux-Lenny. They don't seem like the same entity whatsoever.

      @@rishabhpb Yea see I think that if that was the deal for the show, then I would buy this whole character difference much more. wiinterflowers Not sure about non-linear, but trippy with such stunning visuals it's literally a piece of art, that would be Hannibal. Plus both have very morally grey, complex and intriguing protagonists and both frequently play with the idea of insanity and the illusion of normality. And both are the kind of show that'definitely aren't for everyone as they will make you think, but if you give them the attention they deserve it's so very worth it :) Imho most people who love this style will love Hannibal, alternatively you might also like Mr. Robot (though that's a bit different kind of show, but similar rules of storytelling).

      Shadowking used Farsi (Iranian language) for that line. Originally they casted French Moroccan actor Said Taghmaoui and was gonna use French and Arabic. But the actor dropped out last minute (for unknown reasons probably to play Sameer in Wonderwoman). They casted Navid Negahban to replace him but he doesnt knoe French or Arabic. Some of the French was kept in (maybe already translated before Said dropped out). But they replace the Arabic with Farsi and added some German (Navid lived in Germany for a bit)

      @wiinterflowers4277 6 лет назад +23

      In an interview, the actor who plays Farouk explains that Farouk speaks four different languages (English, French, Persian, German). The reason why he switches languages throughout the season is to enrich the background of the character because he's the world's oldest mutant, which implies how wise of how he sees the world. He speaks English when he uses foreshadowing, French when he acts mischievous and German whenever he fights David.

      @Little Demon 18 depends on which shadow king iteration you consider. originally, the shadow king was a telepath mutant. later it was retconned to be an entity which existed since the dawn of humanity (the manifestation of the first human nightmare) that possesses telepaths and feed from their powers and from human despair and fear. apparently, the TV Series "Legion" depicts the original Amahl Farouk / Shadow King (a telepath mutant that has lived for more than three centuries, but still "human")

    • @ricsouza5011
      @ricsouza5011 5 лет назад +1

      @Little Demon 18 the fact that support this the most is that, in the series, Farouk is keen on recovering "his body" while in the comics the shadow king has no body at all - he cares more about the telepaths minds than their bodies, since he feeds and manifest on the minds not their physical forms.
