This is the very 1st video I have seen where the wood Carver is actually taking his or her time and explaining EVERYTHING in detail, from how to cut your log, how to hold your tools properly and why. Also the correct way to move your tools around the different parts of the wood, all the way to drying and protecting the wood. I have been watching tons of videos of spoon carving and this is the one I will actually use to carve out my first ever spoon from wood that is from our newly wooded acreage we just bought in Arkansas. My knives are ready and my spoon knife. I ordered them off Amazon have had them a month now just wanting on the 1st and special project to be used. Thank You so very much for this video. A new spoon carver in Arkansas.
While today you can buy books, watch videos, and even find stores selling these kind of carved spoons at the time of this recording this art would of been fairly unknown in the US. People carved spoons and similar things of course, but not so much in this particular style. It wasn't till video likes this, and books/works by Wille Sundqvist started appear that spoon carving in this style really took off. Even after all of these years this is still a great video to watch and really outlines how to do this style well and well worth watching.
It's encouraging me to see that there seems to be a definite resurgence of spoon making these days. Myself being one of those complete, but enthusiastic, novices. Love the video. Thank you so much for sharing your skill and knowledge. Wonderful video. Learned so much. Greetings from Scotland 👍

Great tutorial. Thank you very much for sharing.
Mr Bengtsson, may I ask who is the Swedish blacksmith that forged your spoon knives?
Bo Helgesson, Hans Karlsson, Svante Djärv. I dont know if Bo H is working today the best.
Thank you for this video :)
next level tutorial, thank you so much🙏
Very interesting and informative. Can you give me the name of the companies who make the hook knives and gouges? Thank you for sharing this video.
Mora and Beavercraft are two well known makers of hook knifes. They are not as hard to come by as this guy make it seem:)
it would be useful to know the size of the tools ;)
