Woah those are some fast escalators in the metro. I remember being afraid of the Montgomery escalators in a shopping center near me as a kid (they were only slightly faster than normal). I wouldn't have gone anywhere near those Soviet escalators.
going on my first solo cheap flight adventure to prague in just a few days. I don't plan on doing all the trespassing though xD (also, its Thanks to your channel that i felt inspired and confident enough to do it. Thanks for making these awesome videos!)
Hello beno i really like ur videos ive been wathcing u since i was 3 and every video is very good! Can u one day come to zagreb and ride some lifts please and surf them!
Hi Ben, It's been now 3 years that I haven't surfed a single lift. Not only am I on my own but I'm also currently facing some serious things like having to find a new home if I don't want to be homeless. Should I try surfing more lifts now or is it wiser to wait until everything is resolved ? Thank's for the advice.
I can't advise someone whether or not to surf a lift over the internet. I don't know you, so I don't know what things you are capable of doing safely. I mainly give advice to people (especially young people) who already lift surfing or are going to surf a lift no matter what. With these people I don't want them to make mistakes and get things wrong. With a hobby like this there will be times when people unaware of something they should be aware of, and I don't feel that these people should find out the hard way. And what makes the situation worse is that there are people, like MrMatt, who will simply say "lift surfing is bad, do not do it", and when the person does it anyway, MrMatt will most likely try to act morally superior on the basis he told them not to, and if they get hurt then they did it of their own accord against his advice. However, I do not consider this as morally acceptable. This may be how MrMatt's morals work, but it is not good enough for my morals. If someone is surfing, or is about to surf, and since we know there are things surfers should be aware of that may not be obvious to them, then we should be giving advice to the surfer to make sure they understand what they are doing and help them to stay safe while surfing. And people should be able to give this advice without others accusing them of encouraging a dangerous activity. What I have said here is about why it is important for me to give advice to people, especially if they are a child, if they are at the stage of actually going surfing. However the issue with your question is that you are telling me that you are not surfing and asking me if you should start surfing. This makes it a completely different issue. This is not really a question I can answer, at least not over the internet. I hope you don't become homeless. I have had a friend become homeless in recent years. He was squatting buildings, but this was never a long term solution. With him his situation slowly got worse over time, with one of the biggest issues is on the times he had people try to help him he would usually end up attacking those people, which often felt like an act of self harm. So my advice if you become homeless is to make use of everything that you can use to help your situation and put your full effort into going down the routes to get out of the situation. And don't allow the situation to make yourself resentful, so you don't end up doing things that ends up turning away the opportunities you have. And most of all do not under any circumstances start taking drugs. Taking drugs destroys people, and if a homeless person takes drugs, they have effectively closed down every route out of homelessness.
@@benolifts Thank you for the very detailed reply. I really hope I will not become homeless, but if it happens I have the intention to say NO to anyone offering me any kind of drug. Now I have to look at offers and contact landlords in order to find my new home before the end of my current lease contract or whatever it's called in english. But it's not easy especially because of my low income. Now to surfing lifts, my only fear is to get in trouble either with building owners, security or police or also to get stuck on top of a lift, although it's actually more preventable than fetting caught. A few years ago when I had someone with me sometimes and also a much more stable housing situation it would have been less serious I suppose to get caught and in fact it happened a few times. One of which I got confronted by a very angry tenant who wouldn't have been angrier if he had found me sitting in his couch instead of being in front of the lift in the common area of his block of flats. And if I was on my own he would have called the cops and held me until their arrival. I think I'm capable of surfing a lift safely but I stress a lot in general and don't find lift surfing to be a relaxing activity at all. it's still interesting nevertheless but I think I need to be in better shape than I am currently in order to be able to surf a lift, although this could be helped if I was sure not to get caught. To put you in perspective I had a valid reason to be in a block of flats with a lift a few weeks ago and before leaving I went to the top floor to take a look at the outside motor room area. (With no intention to do anything except a video and I didn't even have lift keys with me). As I climbed the stairs to above the top floor I heard a small clicking noise probably from the normal motor room operation and got quite a startle. Like if I was about to get caught doing something I should absolutely not be doing. But what was I doing actually ? Taking a short video of the staircase of a block of flats, that's it. Still, could have angered some type of persons especially as I don't live here and in many buildings everyone knows everyone.
Beno id love to ask how did you find out so much information on lifts as i’d love to keep learning more but not sure how to find more information about lifts without doing some sort of lift and escalator course.
All my knowledge is self taught from going in lifts, surfing lifts and experimenting with lifts. When I started on RUclips there was almost zero information online about them, so I had to teach myself everything.
Nice video Ben! Loved seeing your adventure around Prague! By the way I've had one question for some time - which is better - Schindler Miconic or Mitsubishi?
It is a reasonably big city, so I don't know why it is not mentioned much on the internet. And it has an off road tram system, which is much better than a lot of the street running tram systems that a lot of cities have
Prague is a great city to visit with lots of things to do and lots of cheap hotels to stay in.

Prague as what I heard is a very nice city with so much history and lots of beautiful buildings. Plus the lifts are lot quicker.
Looks a great place. Lots that I liked.

Looks like a small shopping centre but it could still work really well as a small office space! :)
Office space is in decline as people are working at home since covid times
@@benolifts
Yeah most likely that place would soon be demolished or have its interior and sides rebuilt to convert it into a residential building.
Out of all the cities you’ve been to in Europe, what’s your favorite?
Paris, as it has more railways than any other city in Europe
19:20 great wires!
