The average person has never been so poor. Millions of families are struggling financially as living expenses hit the highest levels in more than four decades. Over 60% of our country lives paycheck to paycheck and about 40% earns poverty wages. Even after working all their lives, more than a quarter of older people have no savings and many believe they will never be able to retire in dignity, while around 55% of elderly people try to survive on an income of less than €25,000 a year. My primary concern is how to grow my reserve of €300k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.
It's scary how true this message is. What steps can we take to generate more income during quantitative tightening? Also, on the contrary, how can we profit in times of quantitative easing? Where should we put our investment money now to better prepare for the future and a liquidity crisis?

We need strong national states and cooperation that's based on mutual benefit, friendship and freedom of choice. EU in it's present form is doomed, as we see throughout the current crisis.
When winter comes, and all EU member states need energy, while they only have very limited reserves, do you think they will share it with other countries or will it be kept for the use of their own people? When in a situation of abundance, everyone can brag to each other about solidarity, but when the situation is difficult, it is human nature to put their own interests first. Even the US took advantage of this situation by selling LNG to the EU at a price five times more expensive.
Why did Brexit happen? Because each country in the EU does not have the same level of prosperity, so the countries that feel more prosperous feel at a loss because citizens from poorer countries come to seek life on their land. Even within a single country, social inequality can lead to division, especially since the EU is a collection of countries.
I saw thousands of European people are migrating to South East Asia this month especially to Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, because these nations are doing very well, no energy crisis, no rocketing inflation and importantly no HARSH WINTER WITH SWITCH OFF POWER.
As Winston Churchill said: “Never let a good crisis go to waste.” The EU can pull itself together and face the problems but it takes strength. I'm not entirely sure if we have the right leaders. 1:57 I would say that Turkeys region never were part of Europe. The old word is Asia Minor. The only part of modern day Turkey that are part of Europe is Byzantium or Constantinople now Istanbul.
If the EU is serious about making developing software easier, they should consider developing conversion and translation libraries for common conversions in all commonly used programming languages and give them away for free. Start writing useful code instead of more policies.

I don't care for excess electricity produced during a windy day, I care about calm, cold and dark nights. This simple question deserves a simple and convincing answer.
Hydro works 24/7. Solar works when there is snow or cloud cover. There are multiple other ways to store electricity OTHER than lithium batteries. Pumped hydro, gravity batteries, etc.
@@PaulLefebvre If you have solar, you know that in winter the energy it makes is not much. This is not supprising, because daytime is shorter in winter, and the sun is very low in the sky. Now given that we want to replace gas with it, and gas consumption peaks in winter, do you think its a good idea? Hyro is a better option. Its only a problem if there is drought.
@@tubetotto Hydro absolutely works when water freezes. We literally have two of our biggest provinces in Canada powered primarily by hydro, and it absolutely works all winter. And it's not nearly as destructive to the environment as extracting and then burning gasoline.
Trading with and thereby funding morally bankrupt autocracies is a betrayal of the democratic values the EU is based on. Some things are more important than money, like freedom.

Ironically, every crisis makes the EU stronger and more united, because suddenly Europeans remember they need each other. Brexit led to a Disunited Kingdom and proved the rest of Europe that leaving is a really bad idea.
Exactly. The EU must free itself from the dictatorship of transit countries like Belarus and Ukraine. Our governments must be loyal to our people, not be lapdogs of governments or people abroad. That is the job of the UN, not the job of the EU or Nato.

Europe’s incompetent blundering into energy insecurity is the direct result of being a trading bloc that is committed to excluding trade with democracies outside the EU. In the short term, there are three democratic and reliable energy suppliers in the world, and they are America, Canada and Australia. Europe has been conducting punitive trade actions against those countries for generations, particularly Australia. In the mid term those same three countries are the only democracies that have the capacity to supply the sufficient material necessary to transition to green energy. Given the reliability of democracies to supply competitive energy resources it is simply irrational that Europe looks to the countries of the Middle East and Africa who have substantial sovereign risk, to supply it with the resources that keep the lights on. There’s an intellectual deficit in Europe that is led by France and Germany that finds it impossible to participate in a world of mutual benefit and like security with democracies. Unfortunately that means that Europe will continue to lurch from crisis to crisis instead of resolving fundamental issues of energy and resource security.

One of the biggest issues I see with the EU is their willingness to use economic mechanisms in a punitive manner. For example, they want to penalize the UK for departing the EU and as such they try and make things as difficult as possible. Why is it that other countries (i.e. Switzerland, Norway, etc...) have a special relationship with the EU that isn't afforded to the UK? I get the fact that if the EU doesn't make it painful for the UK, other EU members will perhaps start departing the Union as well.....and the EU can't have that happening. In my view, the EU can't get their economic policies right because their social agendas get in the way. It is kind of like Hollywood, they are so focused of forcing their social agenda narrative into new movies that they forget to fulfill the primary role of the film, entertainment. As a result....it doesn't work.

My position is that the EU needs to change and allow competition between the countries in the EU both in relation to business and how to govern, including how to tax. Limit centralized government and open up for decentralized government. There is today a tendency where it is the lowest common denominator that decides. The EU does not win from that and failing has a social purpose especially if a country for centuries has an ever increasing debt to GDP ratio. Something is out of control. The upper common denominator should be what EU must strives for.
No, countries competing with each other are like each finger moving against each other. Europe needs centralisation not decentralization. The worlds needs centralization. If we are all the same, feel the same who is going to fight ahainst who..
@@frostman7593 We disagree and it is perfectly legitimate to have your own opinion. In my opinion, the fact that attitudes are different calls for decentralization. In a decentralized society, both you and I could live out our dream instead of having to live in a consensus society where none of us is truly happy.
Competition has its benefits, but I'd also say that it brings a lot of disadvantages to the EU. Take innovative start-ups as an example: Different regulations all over the Union leads to a big braindrain of European intellect to the US, as it is simply more difficult to start a company or design innovative technology due to every nation within the bloc often having its own regulations, thus reaching a big market is more difficult. I'd be curious to your thoughts on this, and how to form a fine line between a centralised regulative entity and decentralised entities (federalism a la US vs intergovernmentalism a la UN). As of now, the EU has both with the Parliament being a federal institute while the Council is an intergovernmental group of all national ministries together. Interestingly, both insitutes need to give green light to decisions made by the Commission, so there's both a centralised/federalism control as well as a decentralised/intergovernmental control. In my own experience, the EP is more ambitious in environmental and privacy laws as the Council of national ministries aims for competitive advantages, hence caring less about things like pollution as such restrictions would give their country an economic disadvantage. Deeming strict environmental regulations of high importance myself, I'm more of a fan of the federal system although I admit that the intergovernmental has its pros as well.
@@anonymous-5608 You raise some good points and questions. There are no universal answers to how one arranges oneself in relation to government, regulation and taxation in my opinion. In addition, there are individual attitudes in relation to what you want and what you think is fair. That's why I advocate competition or laissez faire, where an "invisible hand" can adjust the entire system as an alternative to big centralized government. Democracy is for the majority, which is why centralized governments can be ineffective if there is greater diversity in society. When you mention brain drain, to me it this is a laissez faire process where, unfortunately for Europe, it means that someone finds another geography and settles, which is outside of Europe. Europe is based on rules and not internal competition and adjustments. I am an advocate of a decentralized model, where the central government is minimal and where there is freedom in how to organize in smaller regions. The USA is a good example of a decentralized model, but in my opinion Switzerland is an even better example. There you have a great spread in how the individual regions or cantons arrange themselves. As a citizen in Switzerland, you have the opportunity to see how the different regions function in relation to your needs and you have the freedom to choose. If you are interested in a business-friendly environment, you probably choose Canton Zug, if you want the opposite, you probably choose Canton Jura.

EU needs to articulated a common good vision which needs trans national unity to achieve.
Have they not said "solidarity" enough number of times already!!
The vision is there, we're just missing more common interests to boost transnational unity.

The major problem the anchor forgets to add is the under population. The EU need to attract foreign trained nationals to inject more energy into the system.
There is a strong likelihood it will split into a productive northern bloc and a debt laden southern bloc with separate currencies. This can be avoided if they centralise all national debt across all states. Then I think it could work.
EU is collapsing and you're still talking about leadership role on climate policy? Living costs are skyrocketing, competitiveness is plummeting and we're talking about carbon emissions..
"Spending the cash they had been hoarding during the pandemic." Most European nations had some sort of allowance given to their citizens to stay home, so this money wasn't hoarded. It was spent like they would have spent their missing wages.
If we would have as much debt as the US and China we would have been done for already. China is the worst example to be following. Don't you know what is going on there or what? We have problems because we have incompetent EU and political leaders.
US owes China and Japan mega bucks.
so you are looking for one way partnership so you can exploit
Listening to the two lady 'experts' one thing struck me - they ain't got a clue.
I find it interesting that the EU is always prioritizing "democracy", "diversity", "LGBTQ+ rights" etc. and finds it difficult to reach a trade agreement with the US, yet they are actively pursuing agreements with a regime which is the Antithesis of what Western Democracies stand for as far as values (China). It is also interesting that they are pursuing trade agreements and partnerships with African countries, many ruled by autocratic dictators who oppress the rights of their citizens.
Hypocrites
Politicians all claim to have values - they never actually identify/practice them - they also worship GROWTH of economies - in a world of finite resources.
@@niburu3406 A world of "finite resources" should limit the power of politicians, not put them in charge of distributing them. The less government, the better off people will be. Finite Resources does not limit economic growth, you can always grow your economy and improve your standards,
The US is also pursuing trade agreements with China. Further, the US is propping up the Saudi regime by huge arms sales, and getting oil production cuts as thanks, sending inflation up. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Weeelll, it's a lot about OUR LGBT people, OUR healthcare and OUR democracy. Whether someone somewhere else has the same "benefits" of human rights in their life had always been subject to rather colonialist views.
They need to let the people in the war torn area of ukraine form an independent country , not Russia and not Ukraine but a separate country in its self . Go figure
This is a simple problem - invite Russia into EU and all of these energy & food problem will disappear.
However, the distrust of the West to Russia is so deep - and has lasted for centuries.
People with money are running away from Europe leaving poorer ones to suffer😢
Lol. What nonsense.
Your government did not want for the UK to have a relationship like Switzerland and Norway. Did you not know? Really?

They said new markets are in Africa. Dear Africans , see the wolf in disguise.
And China which is heavily in Africa is not a WOLF! Come on you are naive!
@@snjez2762 says who? At least china is bringing some infrastructural development unlike the west who never wants us to develop as a continent!!! West is not Africas’ friend period! We the younger generation are waking up in full time ✌️
I actually noted that what the expert said on Africa was “Africans may have better approaches and solutions, we need to approach African countries in partnership, not in pursuit of a new kind of colonization”. Contrast this with China, which builds facilities in Africa using imported Chinese labor. Pure exploitation.
@@snjez2762 I think Africans know this but for the time being they'd rather trust a wolf from China than a wolf from Europe. Just sayin...
Europe is not a continent. It is at best a region or subcontinent of Asia. Europeans really need to get over the hangover from the past of thinking themselves to be some different and special place and people.
The faster that happens, easier it would be to manage the current challenges.
Weather Europe is a tectonic plate continent or a region of EURASIA it is completely irrelevant.
but your Indian arrogance shows quite a lot.
But it is special place, but only because Europe has fought to make it one. If you compare it to the area bordering Europe.. the difference is clear.
@@mutkaluikkunen3926 Sorry to break it to you that geography doesn't give a damn about your emotions! No definition of Continent is satisfied by Europe as a region to be called as Continent.
Yet the blind insistence to do so is hilarious and more hilarious is the fact that rest of the world just accepts it.
Also, ascendance of Europe was a temporary blip of 300 years in long history of mankind and reversion to mean is already very much in progress now.
