New Bolshoi Male Principal Dancer Egor Gerashchenko - Incredible Diversity of Roles up to 2022

- Subscribe: @TheBunduBallerina Egor Geraschenko, who became a Principal Dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet this year in 2022, was given solo roles from the time he joined the company after graduating from the Vaganova Academy, (class of Nikolai Tsiskaridze). This video shows some of the diverse range of roles he has performed up to now. The ballets featured in this video are:
1) "Ivan the Terrible" - Tsar Ivan IV at 0:03 Choreography by Y. Grigorovich. Music by S. Prokofiev.
2) "La Bayadere" - Solor at 1:51 Grigorovich version after Petipa & Khudekov. Music by L. Minkus.
3) "Le Corsaire" - Conrad at 3:17 Revival by A. Ratmansky & Y. Burlaka after Petipa. Music by Adolphe Adam.
4) "Jewels" (part of "Diamonds") - the leading couple at 4:14 Choreography by Balanchine. Music by P. Tchaikovsky
5) "Don Quixote" - Basil at 5:47 Alexei Fadeyechev version after Petipa & Gorsky. Music L. Minkus.
6) "Raymonda" - Jean de Brienne at 7:15 Grigorovich (version of 2003)
after Petipa & Gorsky. Music by Alexander Glazunov.
7) "Sleeping Beauty" - Prince Desiree at 8:37 Grigorovich version after Petipa. Music by Tchaikovsky.
8) "Ivan the Terrible" - Prince Kurbsky at 10:15 Choreography by Yuri Grigorovich. Music by Sergei Prokofiev.
9) "Etudes" - Principal Part at 11:46 Choreography by Harald Lander. Music by Carl Czerny.
10) "A Hero of our Time" - Pechorin in the part "Princess Mary" at 12:46 Choreography by Yuri Possokhov. Music by Ilya Demutsky.
11) "Spartacus" - Crassus at 14:11 Choreography by Grigorovich. Music by Aram Khachaturyan.
12) "The Nutcracker" - The Nutcracker-Prince at 16:31 Choreography by Yuri Grigorovich with ideas from Petipa used. Music by Tchaikovsky.
13) "Ivan the Terrible" - Tsar, Ivan IV at 18:55 Choreography by Grigorovich. Music by Prokofiev.
In the first parts of Ivan the Terrible, Egor performs with Nikulina. In La Bayadere, he partners Krysanova and Kretova. Kovaleva is the ballerina Egor performs with in Jewels (Diamonds). Don Quixote also features Mishina & Kruteleva & Nikulina. Raymonda is with Kovaleva. Princess Mary in A Hero of our Time is danced by Nikulina. As Crassus in Spartacus, Egor dances with Shipulina. Geraschenko performs with Vinogradova in The Nutcracker.

It is püre pleasure to watch hım. His moves are so fluid and he executes them with such grace. I with I could see hım live on stage.
Also see his wonderful teacher in these roles, he was a wonderful dancer too, my favorite for yars.

Thank you for this compilation of amazing presentations of new Russian star Egor Gereshenko. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. So the classic repertoire will last for many centuries to come. I’ ll never forget the thrills of attending eternal stars of Russian ballet here in my own country , Brazil. Among so many others : Vladimir Vassiliev and Maximova , Uliana Lopatkina , Ivan Vassiliev, Lantratov , Maria Alexandrova and the complete corps de ballet : Mariinnski and Bolshoi. Bressed them all for the unforgivable joy !
What an extraordinary accomplished dancer!!! Perfect elegant noble lines in the best tradition of the Russian school. Ivan the Terrible is absolutely tremendous as if Eisenstein himself came back to this world and staged the ballet. Thank you for pointing all this to us.

Absolutely superb
The men I always compare male danseurs to are Vladimir Vasiliev and Irek Mukhamedov. I don’t always realize it immediately, but these men imprinted so hard on my retinas bc of their incredible grace, excellent acting, and phenomenal athletic and artistic gifts, that I immediately slot in comparison visions, often without realizing it. There are very few danseurs who have had a similar impact-the very different Steven McRae is one-but this young man unfortunately doesn’t hit that target for me. Art (and artists) is an extremely subjective process, which strikes individuals in very different ways, so I would never say people are wrong in their favorites. But then, neither am I!

Егор Геращенко техничный, потрясающе высокие прыжки в " Корсаре" , иногда резковат, как на спортивных брусьях танец. Понравился в " Спящей красавице" -- изящный. В " Спартаке" и " Щелкунчике" -- очень артистичный.

I remember one particular commenter @ Lsky444 strongly defending a yt ballet creator - - and he said to the yt creator 'do as you wish' it's your ballet site etcetera. To go through all the 'film editing' processes and writing the 'descriptions' and all else - - these tasks definitely take a lot of time to achieve. And w/o putting @TheBunduBallerina on a pedestal tho - - I must say that @TheBunduBallerina's still one of the finest!

@@ivelinapancheva3681 NT was perfect in his interpretation of Narcissus because he is a big narcissus himself. Treating his former students as traitors and bad-mouthing them. Just pathetic. I did not think much of Gerashenko but I am impressed by this compilation here. He is really good in some roles and has a lot of potential for development.

Очень неудачная нарезка. Почему не показать вариацию целиком? Музыка не совпадает с движениями и это вина не танцора, а того кто нарезал этот клип.
А лучше не получается)))) Ведь танцор то увы, не лучший вариант (мягко выражаясь)

Сумбур вместо Геращенко. Балет - это зримая музыка. Как можно оценить музыкальность танцовщика, непрерывность его движений, их кантилену, если режется главное в исполнении - музыка. Или автор нарезки сознательно это сделал, дабы зрители не смогли оценить танец Геращенко в его цельности?
Толстый , неповоротливый шкаф! Лишенный какого либо обаяния, энергетики , пластики. полное отсутсвие прыжка и вращения !
Глубокое чувство досады, вызванное чудными, крайне разноплановыми работами другого артиста, не самое лучшее проявление собственных качеств, которые стоит демонстрировать в сети.

I am sorry...not really! But don't they get tired of doing the same old ballets over and over again and again and again? A new star doing the same thing that the one before him or her did to make them a star of the same old ballet! My goodness...no wonder Russia keeps losing so many of her stars to the west! They haven't learned a thing about doing something new! You would think they would want to with that enormous new theatre!
No offense meant, but you are mistaken. The Bolshoi performs brand new choreographies regularly. And one of them is even briefly featured here in an excerpt from A Hero of Our Time. However, it is in performing the old classics that dancers can show their mastery as well as originality and individual interpretation, that is why these excerpts shown here are important. The more recent classics by the famed choreographer Grigorovich, who is still alive, are a particular challenge, requiring intense acting skills and emotional depth, as in the shown excerpts from Spartacus and Ivan the Terrible. Redancing the classics enables dancers to develop and deepen their roles. It isn't just boring repetitions! Musicians, too. perform the same classical pieces over and over again as do great actors! I hope this makes the choice of classical excerpts a bit clearer.
That’s exactly what I thought as I was watching this. In 2022, Not one modern ballet. Always the same old ones we’ve seen a thousand times. No wonder Noureev escaped to the west. And that was 50 years ago. Of course he’s a good dancer, but so many were before him.
@@catherinecozzano2580 you cannot judge the entire repertoire of a company by a few excerpts put together to show a particular artist's virtuosity! The Bolshoi regularly performs entirely new choreographies! One of them is even featured in an excerpt here, namely A Hero of Our Time.
@@dancingbluecrane2813 “Performing old classics dancers can show their mastery” right. But so can they, exploring modern choreographies which also challenge them to face new techniques. Look at Sylvie Guillem’s career for example. She danced all the classics at the ONP fantastically and then she left to explore new grounds where she was just as great.
