- This video was made in partnership with @LongsNorthwestHitch and showcases the problems that can occur when allowing shops with poorly trained employees to install electrical equipment. The vehicle is a 2020 #Kia #Sorento SX (but could be ANY vehicle with #exteriormountedpoweredconverters) and the aftermarket wiring harness in question is a #Curt #56332. Even though the resulting blown converter is the direct result of installer error, most electrical components only carry a 90 day to 1 year warranty and MOST shops do NOT cover labor under warranty. We cannot confirm the shop/installer of this product, but the #UHaul label on the hitch is a telling sign…
At the time of this video, we prefer the #Tekonsha #118269 harness over the Curt brand because of better sealing of the converter box itself. However, if you’re mounting the box externally, you should always mount the box with the wires coming DOWN out of the BOTTOM of the box to prevent moisture/water build up where the wires enter the box.
