In the very beginning when you started randomly extruding random faces I thought "Oh no, I don't think he has a good idea of what he's actually teaching here", and then you stopped everything, and said "it's grid time baby'. Amazing video.
Damn and me who wanted to try to make a little game of sort as a school project was so worried about how to create environnent like this one. You just spared me hours upon hours, days even of brainstorming and research. Thanks dude.
Honestly dude, this tutorial is a lifesaver! You’ve basically become the hero of all us junior indie devs out here struggling to build levels (including myself). Hats off to you for saving us from endless frustration!🎉
I don't know if he mentioned it, but I'm pretty sure you have to hire Thomas to sit in a voice call while you're making your level and make the bup sound every time you extrude. It's a bit tedious and costly, but it's worth it to get the complete experience. 👍
Tomb Raider devs in 1996: "if we make everything on a grid, we need to store far less data, and we can simplify the whole collision logic!" Thomas in 2024: "See how easy this is? Bop - Bop - Bop"
These are the kinds of videos i prefer from you. Videos about actually making games rather than coming up with an idea. You can have the best idea in the world and still fail if you can't execute it. Show us how you make games, don't just show us how you come up with games and sell them. Because you have a LOT of artistic talent to share.
I'm truly grateful for this video, thomas you don't know how much it helped me on starting to make 3d levels. Thanks for being that bright human and for share with so happiness and good aura your knowledge. Thanks for it really! All good vibes from Brazil, friend!
Okay so I'm new to this, when I select the faces I want to apply the floor to it applies to ALL of the surfaces? How do I fix this? Each spot is a face, I select ONLY the faces I want that texture on
It's very risky to use probuilder for your future project. I tried to use but it lack of everything. Too many issues with this thing. First if you missed one pass or another you can't adjust it. Probuilder can't even remove the edges and fill correctly the hole. You can do the same thing as double speed than using Probuilder at all in blender. That's why it made for prototyping and not the final product. One time it happens that once they updated the package of probuilder the whole level was corrupted and you can't even undo. Same thing happens when you click on ctrl+z sometimes it doesn't undo at all. I highly suggest to stick with blender it's more safer.
Probuilder is REALLY great at prototyping, but outside of that it's pretty limited. Just to get a good feel for where you want to go before using blender, or assets from CGTrader or the Unity Asset store really.
Thomas, is there a chance that when I finish my game you will play it and show it? Such content would also be interesting I think, where you play the games of viewers. Sorry for my bad English, Greetings from Poland
Is their a email i can send you my game design document? I am a very creative person with great game ideas willing to learn unreal engine to bring my dreams to reality or partner with others.
There's an free addon that allows Unity to import Gimp Files ( XCF extension) into Unity assets kinda similar like the psd importer. The asset store has a 5$ addon that does it for Krita files. Technically speaking, it's not photoshop that does it, but the importer addon for Unity.
The only app I've seen so far that properly supports PSD outside of Photoshop is Photopea, but it is online only. But if you have an other format like jpg or png, you can just use any image editing app and simply overwrite the source texture you want to adjust, and it will auto update that referenced texture in the project (as long as the associated meta file stays the same).

When I extrude, there is no "bup" sound. Am I doing something wrong?
I had the same problem: I fixed it by spitting out my chewing gum

Grids are good. Embrace the grid.

Any thoughts on using CSG over ProBuilder?
Is that "pop" sound effect available at freesound? 😄
Super cool!
Can you do a tutorial about game music and how you can shape your environment with it? Thank you!

Does your full time game course go in to more details about pro builder as I want to learn more on this subject.
Awesome video..!!
Do you know is there is anything similar fo Unreal Engine?
I don't have a pro builder panel in unity 6.0 what can I do? even some options.
Is their a email i can send you my game design document? I am a very creative person with great game ideas willing to learn unreal engine to bring my dreams to reality or partner with others.

Is there a cheaper alternative to photoshop that would update textures on the fly in unity?

you should be able to open and edit them with Krita

The Father project is now Twisted Tower which he’s still working on
