Would be really cool if exodia was getting 4th in minigames 5 times or something so the minigames turn from clawing for 4th to desperarely treading the line between winning and losing.
I feel like Jacob is still scarred from getting two carpel tunnels from this game, so he was just like, “I wanna play Mario Party, but I _don’t_ wanna play Mario Party.”
I imagine another version of this where, along with the other rules there already are, you have to use an item if you can, but it's up to you which item you use, so you want to not lose, but you also might want to get coins to buy useless items in case you accidentally get a golden pipe or a hidden block card
That and a gentleman’s rule that you can’t just do nothing during a mini game Perhaps a post game penalty of 5 coins for every mini game you don’t finish?
Make it to where the stats at the end also award bonus stars if its something like most red spaces or whoever moved the least spaces. This way the only way to lose isn't to play lame and barely move or aim for bad spaces the entire time, but to Strategically aim for them when you know you moved more than others or have the least red spaces. So its a bit more of a gamble and rewards actually playing every once in a while. Also you HAVE to hold the forward button in Minigames, whether its the A button or mashing B or using the left stick, if something has to be pressed to move then you have to press it. And games like the one where you are all in cars with a balloon on the back can be purposefully lost if you drive backwards into someone else, so you have to gentlemen that you won't do timeouts. Hopefully stuff like that can make it more compelling a game. Perhaps have a secret player that you get a star penalty if they get first place in the end? so if say Jacob had Weegee, then since DK won the game with the most stars Jacob would get a 1 star deduction, potentially netting him the win (I think he still had more coins than birdo though, but you get the idea). But with that in place it could encourage 2v2s to be thrown to cause your partner to win for example.
Definitely would feel different if there was incentive to win the mini games, perhaps a -2 star count at the end of the game for the person with the most minigame wins, and on a tie nobody gets any negatives.
When my friends and I do this game mode, we make up rules for each minigame such as play it eyes closed. Gives a lot less chances for ties in minigames and makes stuff more chaotic. We also force yourself to take paths to the Star rather than default paths.
If you ever do this again it might be funny to have everyone start with one star so chance time and bowser spaces can be used more often to remove stars you have.
Family minigames on peach’s cake is the best. Risk the 30 coin dump on a possible star from the plants. And everyone is forced to go to the star regardless of path.
