Absolute best 4cyl sound ever..... I can't believe they've been building these Frankenstein style engines for this many years..... and before I read the description, I had initially thought they were using the _old_ Lampredi Ferrari 4cyl head....not the Tipo 8cyl 😅
The insanely screaming engine is amazing but so is also the gearshifts with its close ratio gearbox, but none of that would matter without the handling and grip through corners no matter how the road switched camber through the bends! 👏 (Off to google to try find out more about this fantastic Fiat X1/9 build)
I swear every time I see some little fiat with a ferrari engine it just ends up being quick and handles on a dime, driver and car don't play around, I've watched a couple of hillclimb monster videos were they get the fastest time, good stuff 👍the hillclimb racing never gets old and always room for more, oh and watch out for those turboded up pop'n an banging lancer evos they also are some fast cars
Unbelivable how INSTANT power delivery is on this pretty small and hi reving engine! And driver is a Driver ;) In this is viable how good is to have perfect balanse of all, especially power to the limit but not overpowering so it does not slip as if it where overpowered...but this is just on the limit. Limit where You get the MAX of all - traction and pure performance. Just GREAT
Womder if that's the guy who helped Davide Cironi build his? I certainly had a new perspective on the X1/9 after that build; seen as a bit of a hairdresser's car here, some of those Italian built race cars are stunning. And often it's builder/drivers who've been doing it for years. I wouldn't fancy my chances in much less than an F1 car, up Trento - Bondone against some of those guys. Stunning cars, staggering speed.
You can tell the power band is perfect both proportionate to the chassis and the course. This makes it not only easier to control, but fun to push to the limit instead of the majority of the other builds which are so overpowered that they're more like a bucking bronco than a trusted steed. They're all cool, but this guy has transcended so many assumptions about speed. Very elegant solution; this thing rips.
Wow its soo fast and grippy and have Ferrari part!! You cant get better than that. Iam curious how they slap that Ferrari engine head on Fiat engine block and what you gain by that? More displacment or more rpm?
RPM and valve flow likely; any displacement increase would be negligible and any positive effect would likely boil down to increased compression. Humble opinion.
Shows how much you THINK you know, because Ferrari absolutely built 2L 4cyls, they're called Lampredi's, and the 2L in question (not the head used here, which is a Tipo 8cyl 16v head) is called the Lampredi 500....... one of the most expensive Ferraris to ever cross the auction block, the longest single owner Ferrari, had if I can recall, a 2.5L Lampredi 4cyl.....so ... you're completely and painfully.... wrong 😅🤣
@@creepingjesus5106 yes, they absolutely built a 2L 4cyl.... homeboy doesn't know what he's talking about, it's called the Lampredi 500, look at my other comment. It's an Indy engine.
@@johnnygeorgopoulos4072 Well I didn't know that, I admit! But the description does say the cylinder head in this case, came from the 3L V8. Which is probably a bit easier to come by than a specialist racing engine's head.
Dang this car is so sharp
Needle point sharp things a weapon
Yep, definitely more Sharp than Samsung.
Your X1/9 videos over the years are some of the best motorsport videos on the internet.
Always read the description people.
My favorite Hillclimb car: everything about it is just perfect: it looks amazing and sounds great, is very light and agile and so planted. 🤘
A realy fantastic Car in an amazing presentation here from the Hillclimb Monsters. Fantastic Camera Views. That´s Sporrt and Art of Showing us.
A true technical masterpiece.
690kg 😲
Its not that hard to believe.
For me Super Fast SLK have nearly same weight with V8 engine and 2X more body size:)
Thats even more impressive.
That is only 200 kg less than stock mate 😊
What a beautiful thing. It just dances up the hill - delightful!
That sounds immense!
This might be the best video ever made ❤
Now I want to see the other x1/9 that beat this one looks like!

neat , wonder how they got the head mated and decked and all that and how well it worked out the box.
I'd like to see an interview with the team. That would be interesting to hear about.
I absolutely love it

Watching your channel is not just a pleasure, it is a true cultural experience. Thank you for your creativity and efforts!🖥😂😍
He crash at vallecamonica hillclimb and destroyed the car
I was there
Recently or?
Hopefully he rebuilds it even better. Was he hurt ? What kinda speed did he wreck at ?
Thank you for your professionalism and talent. Your videos are always impressive.🕋💋🐈
That's quite a heavy car, needs some serious weight reduction at the very least.
Zero body roll
Ferrari engine 2000cc 4 cylinder?
It doesn't exist.
Ferrari engine _head,_ grafted onto a more standard 4-cylinder block.
No, but 3 - 4 litre eights do, and I'm guessing the cylinder spacing is favourable.
