I made a wooden hand reel a while back. I honestly don't use it very often but when I carry lures, hooks and weights in the handle I fill the voids with cotton balls and tinder plugs to stop the rattling and have tinder in case of emergency. Nice video, brought back memories from when I actually used my hand reel. 👍🤘
This is exactly what I have reduced my kit to. I switched from # 6 and 8 circle hooks to #4 circle hooks, because they would swallow them whole and cutting them out isn't very easy. I also added a stick of fat wood. Great video for a bare bones minimalist kit.
Just found your channel and subbed. I love it! i also do a great deal of fishing with a hobo reel, and I agree with you on why not to carry tackle in the reel itself. Question...what do you carry in the reel? Anything?
Great lightweight kit! Why carry more than necessary? What you need depends on what you are doing and how remote you will be going. Lets face it for the most part we are never that far away from a house or road anyway. For my area a rain poncho is great to have. Here in the mountains the weather can change pretty fast. Plus the poncho can also be used as a tarp.
regarding the ruler, have you considered unfolding the knife blade with the ruler open and using a measuring tape to scribe measurements beyond 8 inches on the knife blade?
I can’t remember the size number. But I think theyre the 1/4 oz ones. Double x tackle is the brand. Walmart sells one with a glow stick included, but its slightly bigger in diameter and wont fit inside, plus its a different brand
Just a suggestion. I will often carry small flies and a couple of rubber spiders for surface fishing. They don't take up much space, and with those clear floats you can weight the line and cast them really well. If the fish are feeding on the surface, you can't go wrong with this.
Thank you for actually mentioning types and size of shot and hooks. That's important info most videos don't share.

Thats a good idea with the tinder to stop the rattling! Great comment!

Shut up
I like the way you roll, good video
Great kit. Big fan of 'less is more'. I find with more stuff tham you need, leaves me not knowing where to start. Keep up the good work👊🏻
Well said. Having tons of stuff just makes me feel like its all used less, and i only gravitate towards a few items
But this sucks!

Nice vid! Love my Daggerfish reel!
Just looked up the adjust-a-bubble bobbers…do you know what size they are for sure that fit inside of the reel?

I went to the Daggerfish site. He has it listed on there. 3/16 oz
@deaconfaith ah ok there ya go!
Cody Lundin would say you're lacking some items
Gotta carry that knife tip up!
The way I have it set up now, is tip down, right hand pocket. But it can be switched up with the clip location
@@thehobohandliner tip up gang for life. Good luck with your surgery!
@bobjones8838 thank ya!
Where you get the tacklebox?
Walmart. It’s a Plano brand one they have. Really cheap!
Just a suggestion.
