this is awesome
I love how people are complaining that it doesn't walk, that's one of the hardest things in all of robotics to even do at the moment is to make a robot walk, let alone a giant REALLY heavy hulkbuster suit of armor. Sure you could put Tank treads at the bottom, but then he pretty much has to redesign the entire lower half, and it would probably just tend to fall over half the time due to balance.

i met Colin recently in Newcastle at Maker Faire and he is a really humble down to earth person. What you see is what you get.
I really enjoyed our conversation and the guy made a lot of time for other people taking photos and what not. TOP MAN
oh yeah, i for one am grateful they made the trip with a whole bunch of inventions too! Some awkward fat guy with a ponytail and body odour in front of me asked Colin if now that he has a bit of money he was going to buy a better outfit. This is the type of thing i bet makes famous people stay arms length from the general public. But fairplay to Colin as he did a 99.99% successful cover up of thinking "what?!?" but you would have to be a body language expert to have seen that crack in the armour. Explained how it was kind of an accident that he ended up with a kind of uniform that is the jeans, etnies, shirt and tie combo.
I also found out that he is actually sponsored by Etnies!?!? i couldn't have more respect for the guy!

My nephew also went to the makers faire and was standing in line to take a picture with him or something like that when some assholes pushed him aside to cut the line. Luckely Colin saw this and sent the guy all the way to the back of the line and my nephew all the way to the front.

Sooooo true ! I was Hoping the operator did not accidentally Hit squeeze when he was duct taped in the hand.
I was more worried about the operator hitting the down button on the arm when the stool was under him, since the whole thing was probably bolted to that platform to help balance it while lifting him.
That turned out FANTASTIC! Can't wait to see what you do next with it!

the real problem is flight we simply dont have a efficient enough power source like Tony's arc reactor (which is basically a fusion reactor just as big as a palm).

why do i feel like colin is literally the closest person in the world to succeeding in creating the future of mankind
It's really cute how many people think that "make it walk" is such an easy task. It's beyond "simple" hydraulics and such a big of a challenge that even big multi billion dollar tech corporations struggle to get even close to semi decent bipedal walking. Samsung's robots fall over from time to time and sure there are some small bipedal robotos that "play football" (more like bump into a ball and let's see where it rolls) those small robots are terrible expensive, highly advanced and are made by whole teams of scientists.
I mean, Colin is sort of crazy and it's obvious that he barely feels any pain anymore. He's done terribly dangerous stunts but stepping into a machin that's that big and heavy and rely on it to keep you safe while solving one of the biggest challenges in all of robotics at this point.

Guys this ain’t a LEGO mindstorm set. To make it walk would require a lot more time and effort as well as a huge budget. So please understand the limitations of these kinds of things before criticizing him for it not walking.
military is working on walking bots. best they can do is four legged walkers.
The waist and legs are some the hardest parts to copy.
I was impressed it could even maintain its balance while swinging Colin around with one arm.
That's not really true. Quadrupeds are more suited to carrying loads over uneven terrain, that is why you see a lot of military spec ones. The military are more than capable of making walking bi-pedal robots, heck even James has a few. Bipedal walking robot technology has been around for several years now and is not all that complex.
He could easily make it shuffle its feet forward , but actual balance on one foot , would be a little tricky but, doable. You would just have to tilt waist at same time it steps ,to maintain balance.

It’s ww3, you are hiding in your home as you hear enemy soldiers searching through different rooms. Everything seems hopeless when you hear a loud crashing noise in the next room over. The only thing you can hear is gunfire and what sounds like some type of machinery. Next thing you know an enemy soldier has come bursting into the room screaming while in flames. The soldier falls over dead and the house goes into silence. Scared, but curious as to what caused such destruction, you carefully wander into the next room. As the dust settles, you find out that your savior is none other than Colin Furze in his Hulk Buster armor.

You know how we always joke about how Colin should make an Iron Man suit... well, I never actually expected him to do it.
Johnny Tsunami as soon as he's able to get this thing to walk and get it to move nearly 20 miles an hour that's the human top speed you know some military faction is going to want to talk to him while I don't think we'll be seeing Metal Gears anytime soon something like this that can pack a lot of armor and Armament could be usable especially when deployed in defensive positions. Because ask yourself would you really want to try and mess with a base with three of these things loaded up with rockets and mini guns? I sure as hell wouldn't
