I hope that Canada will do as much business with China as possible, as soon as possible, and leave the US to do whatever they want without us. Allowing Chinese EVs into Canada with minimal, or no tariffs, would provide affordable transportation for Canadians, act as a catalyst for growing our EV infrastructure, support our climate goals, and in the long run provide more jobs for Canadians. I’m a US citizen and I don’t blame them a bit. Trump and his ilk just spat in their faces over a deal he signed with them, made the lives of citizens in both our countries harder unless you’re too rich to care, and Canada should do everything in its power to make sure it’s citizens don’t pay the price for another country’s greed.
I've always despised the authoritarian regime of China and generally think Western countries would be wise to disentangle their economies from that of China. But as an American, the greater threat that US citizens and the world face is the ongoing fascist coup within the American Empire that will hand over a nuclear arsenal to a madman. So, in this case, I'm forced to cheer Canada on in diverting their oil away from the US and selling it to whatever country will buy it. I hope other former US allies turn away from the Trump dictatorship. We the American majority support Canada and their defending their own autonomy. Please understand, that only 28% of eligible voters went to Trump. The rest of us are powerless in this banana republic. It doesn't represent us and, other than American Revolution 2.0, there is nothing we can do to stop it. Please wish us luck, but take care of yourselves. We Americans are going to have to take care of our own problems and it's not going to be easy. It might soon get ugly. I only ask you to be kind to any American refugees seeking to escape your direction.
Yes as a Canadian my heart goes out to the U.S citizens for what that lunatic is doing. DonOLD is making enemies out of allies and China is scooping up all the former US allies. We don't blame the citizens we blame the dementia patient that was elected into office.
@@mhtammi - Caused by systemic ballot purges across numerous states, this might've helped Trump steal the election from Harris. If those ballots had been counted, Harris would've won. Trump is one of the least popular candidates since data was kept. He had the slimmest electoral college win in a long time. Plus, more people voted for Harris than voted for Trump. And more people didn't vote at all than voted for him. But we don't have a functioning democracy for various reasons. And so Trump is just the culmination of decades of dismantling democracy. Besides the long-term problem of the electoral college, there is: gerrymandering, voter suppression, voter purges, shutdown of polling stations, removal of ballot drop-off boxes, elite manipulation of nomination process, propagandistic big biz media, third parties kept off of televised presidential debates, dark money, revolving door politics, immense influence of lobbyist organizations, legalized forms of bribery, etc. As research shows, US politicians only act according to elite opinion, not public opinion. This is how we ended up in a banana republic.
I agree. Trump's end game is to move towards a monarchy. When he told his supporters if you vote for him, you'll never have to vote again. That was telling. VAnce's relationship with Curtis Yarvis is also something to be worried, too. I respect Canada's move to take care of it's own, and hopefully it will slap sense into those who are in positions of influence over the madness in Washington.
Go on Canada, sell you oil to China and Europe and not to America. You will get the price paid to other oil producing companies, not the undercut price you get from America. We in the UK support Canada.
The United States has enough Oil in the ground Just in Alaska and Nevada to last for the next 300 years!!!! Most of it s sweet Texas Crude which will become the world standard. Soon Canada will be looking for someone to sell electricity to! Canada needs to stop illegal immigration to US and stop the flow of drugs to the U.S.
The pumpkin king opened pandoras box with this his 🐂💩 tariffs on Canada. I hope Canada benefits from this and catapults their economy 10 fold. Best of luck from California!
Canada needs to build Pipelines to the East coast & shipping terminals to ship crude & LNG to Europe & any other markets.... what's the big rush to Deal with China without finding out what the Europeans, remember Germany was looking for LNG last year & Trudeau fluffed them off & now he wants to deal with China for Alberta's Crude Oil. Sounds more like Trudeau wants to stick it to the US rather than what's best for Canada. See what the competition is offering long term...
Good luck getting investors. It's a losing proposition. You're waiting 15-20 years for a return so why would anybody invest in that especially when Europe is going greener and greener by the day? You'd be battling increased costs and a diminishing market so what's the point? LNG for sure oil? Nah. How about we try diversification instead of relying on an industrial age economy.
If anybody has not figured it out. This has everything to do with trying to push the oil industry. The reality was that oil was cheaper from Canada than adding additional oil capacity in the US. However, Trump's buddies wanted to make more money by drilling for more oil in the US, essentially making it impossible for Canadians to ship to the US. The only part he is upset about is that he cannot make the trade imbalance part of his argument, given that oil was the number 1 import from Canada. Note before this, Canada was number 5 in terms of trade imbalance. China, Mexico, Vietnam, Germany, and Japan. So why pick on Canada over these countries. It's about his buddies in oil, wood, coal, and steel. All things that are cheaper to get in Canada and where some of Trump's friends want to make more money by stopping the cheaper imports.
While I agree with what you’re saying, I think there’s a few other things at play as well. Trump wants water too but most of all he wants the Northwest Passage. I don’t think he can pull off a “Panama Canal” scenario because there’s not much that has to be built up there so Trump can’t butt in that way. Elon wants a takeover because Canada is the only western country with all the minerals needed to make batteries for his Tesla’s.
There is 1 thing everyone seems to be missing here, Trump is always saying drill baby drill, but the problem he has with that, is the fact that the U.S. imports heavy crude from Canada, and what they pump from U.S. wells is light crude, U.S. refineries cannot refine light crude, they are setup to refine heavy crude, he can drill baby drill all he wants, but until they change their refineries that light crude is worthless in helping them !! Canada was never ripping off the U.S. as it is claimed, they have been buying Canadian heavy crude priced drastically below world heavy crude prices for decades, Trump stabbed Canada in the back, He drew first blood !! As it has been said, It's not the stab in the back that really gets you, it's when you turn and see who's holding the knife !! Canada has always been an ally to the U.S., We have always had their backs anytime they were threatened or attacked, We were there for the Iranian hostage crisis, operation yellow ribbon during the Sept 11th attacks, and our troops fought and died side by side with U.S. troops in Afghanistan, and sending water bombers to help with the horrific events taking place in California, having Trump stab Canada in the back and refer Canada as an enemy is inexcusable, unacceptable and down right Shameful !! Trump drew first blood, and the U.S. will pay dearly for that in the long run !! The U.S. can keep their cheap watered down beer too !! Just saying eh. 😜
We have engaged with international and provincial trade diversification periodically for decades. Any company would become vulnerable if it allowed itself to rely for over 70% of its business to be in the hands of one customer. Unfortunately, it's been too easy to carry on with the statis quo. Definitely time to look elsewhere to do business.
I believe we should sell to everyone. No country can hold us hostage anymore. Pipeline to the east coast and our own refineries. Quebec needs to protect Canada's security and allow it to happen.
China will try to take over Canada. China is not a nice people. Your leader let the Muslim invasion happen. I would really think about this. Your leader is not a good person.
Just for the record... if you look at a map China is "west" of Canada. We are shipping WEST to China. I would say we were already sending some that way... now we may be sending or planning to send more that way. Canada has done business with the US because we were partners, and it was convenient ... if someone makes it inconvenient we can find other markets. They may be less profitable due to shipping costs etc. but they will be profitable.
@@Kreegrrrwe already had local refineries but Conservative government started free trade and refineries shut down. So all this started with Conservative government

This is the best thing that ever happened for Canada, We need to double our refineries in the next 5 years.
It won't happen due to renewable energy on the horizon. They're very expensive, which is why the US hasn't refitted their heavy crude refineries to use the light crude they pull. Btw. I'm not saying it shouldn't happen, just why it hasn't.

I would rather give 50 dollars to someone who appreciates it than give 50 cents to someone who doesn't. I have a great deal of respect for the people of China and its government.
It is time for the Canadian government to grow a backbone and make decisions that are focused on what is best for Canada, rather than cowtow to the US. It is just a matter of time before the US economy tanks and takes us with them.
Ya and decimate our auto sector. No thanks. I'll go with the Japanese and Koreans way before I'd allow China in. Better quality and fairer trade partners. China aren't the good guys either and tend to extort their business partners.

Thank you for your kind words. Trump is a menace, get rid of him
I've always despised the authoritarian regime of China and generally think Western countries would be wise to disentangle their economies from that of China.
As a Canadian I do feel very bad for Americans who didn’t vote for this😢
Yes as a Canadian my heart goes out to the U.S citizens for what that lunatic is doing.
Canadians love their American brothers and sisters but this is a kick in the face. We do know that not all Americans agree with Trump.
Go on Canada, sell you oil to China and Europe and not to America. You will get the price paid to other oil producing companies, not the undercut price you get from America. We in the UK support Canada.

Canada, way to go, smart move on your part!👍
Trump never tells the truth -U.S. is very dependent on Canada's oil because they do not have the ability to refine their own oil!
@@rowzielynwho202 he really wants all the minerals we have
There is 1 thing everyone seems to be missing here, Trump is always saying drill baby drill, but the problem he has with that, is the fact that the U.S. imports heavy crude from Canada, and what they pump from U.S. wells is light crude, U.S. refineries cannot refine light crude, they are setup to refine heavy crude, he can drill baby drill all he wants, but until they change their refineries that light crude is worthless in helping them !! 😜
It's actually about the car manufacturing industry.

Why doesn't Canada refine its own oil and sell it for a higher so our dollar goes up.
That's what Polievre wants, build local Canadian refineries. Let's see if he can make it happen.
Under the trade agreement we were not allowed to refine it. It created1000s of US jobs.
