There is a video I remember watching a yr ago where they built either this car or one like it. I think the channel was driftworks but can't remember for sure

I’ve seen two other dudes who have done the same with the S85 by placing it in an E46. The drifting is mental.

It even seems as if the DCT livens the V10, it revs smoother. Also, the traction in 2nd gear is insane. What a car!
I think its because of the gear ratios, it seems to be always in high RPM which is where the most power is in these NA cars
Don't be fooled this is no plug-and-go, some clever development and programming have gone into the project.
There is a reason why this is one of the very few V10-DCT config out there.
@@Kaisuke971 Yes this isn't easy, but this was built by some guy in a shop somewhere and not a massive RnD team and that's awesome. Also it runs great!

...You gotta say, though, the way that the SMG downright _rocked_ the car with every gear change was charming in its own way.
The M-DCT and the V10 are a really good combo!

I really love it when the wheelspin starts in second gear as soon as it gets into the revs. No clutch snapping, just pure power.
I agree. N/A wheel spin is so much better than Turbo wheel spin. Just feels more organic!
I dig that also. Spinning easily in 2nd then short shifted and backed off a bit or it would have been lighting them up in 3rd for sure.

Sure, the drivetrain is decent, but the e46 chassis is possibly one of the most poorly engineered platforms. The damn subframe literally rips itself out of the car and it's not an isolated issue. Absolutely abysmal engineering and if you can't see such a MAJOR flaw, you're just a blind fanboy.

@@jimbo6612 E92 is a better chassis (and a better stock M3 than the E46 Coupe). I do love the CSL though.

@@jimbo6612 if you ever drove a decently setup e46, no matter sedan or coupe, you will understand, some small mods and those handle and feel really good, the subframe doesnt make the chassis bad, fix it properly and its done, also not all have that problem, i got a 330d with 300k km and plenty power, subframe is where its supposed to be without cracks 😉
@@jimbo6612 E46 with the subframe reinforced is one of the best coupe chassis of all time. It’s not that hard or expensive to reinforce it

Facts! It was a groundbreaker when launched with the S65 V8 in the E92 M3 (which is the same engine construction as the S85 V10 only minus 2 cylinders FYI).

This sounded awesome, but I can't tell this sounded better than the Carrera GT you drove previously. :)
The Carrera GT definitely sounds better from outside, but it is very quiet from inside the cabin. All you hear are the mechanics. Simply driving, I think this E46 makes better noise.
