A lot of people made their versions as majestic and grand as possible, but this really sells that patriotically desperate, "man locked in basement with no supplies" feel. The fact that the man's voice didn't raise an octave even when the orchestra and backing choir explodes just sells the atmosphere perfectly. Ronnie Oates and the ZombiU team did such an amazing job with this music and the trailer that accompanied it.
Like what happened with Allan Wilson's men in the Shangani Patrol. They ran out of ammo and were surrounded by Matabele warriors and sang this as they bravely stepped up to meet their fate at the points of assegais.

Then the rescue arrives, the queen is evacuated and the guards and soldiers fight for the last time while the helicopter takes off while being swept away by the zombie waves. When the queen finishes singing, she has already been evacuated and they cannot keep them at bay, so some of them end up dying and others fight with the few bullets that are there and then use their bayonets that are not very useful for them, but they are not ending with their death, but with salvation. of the Queen. One of the best zombie games ever, in the top ten if not 15 range. I HATE it that they are not doing the sequel (even though it is a sequel itself). I know in my gut that this could have been something great as a series if even only one sequel was made. It's a big let down for me since Im zombie fanatic, but at least we have the walking dead still going.
I think Ubi definitively went for the Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake opening credits effect (Johnny Cash 'Man comes around' track over Kyle Cooper's design), and they totally pulled it off, amazing track, amazing vocal, fits perfectly to the amazing game.

I think Ubi definitively went for the Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake opening credits effect (Johnny Cash 'Man comes around' track over Kyle Cooper's design), and they totally pulled it off, amazing track, amazing vocal, fits perfectly to the amazing game.
There is something about this being sung outside a choir that makes it so much more powerful.
