omg i love this!!! ❤ also! it just goes to show that Weyes Blood (and her staff) did an amazing job and overall great research for her "twin flame" music video 🥀🌹🥀🌹
I truly fought sleep to watch the full video because it was both soooo relaxing and so fascinating and such a vibe 🤌 this book is so so cool, thank you for sharing it!
Me too! I read a few old school romance novels for a sociology class once, and it was really interesting to consider the themes as reflections of wider societal views / needs / desires; this book makes me want to do it again, but gothic romance only! (And without having to write a paper 😂)
@@MauveASMR I toootally feel you. About halfway through the video I pulled up the site and saw the latest book and may have picked it up as a gift for someone 🤫
Love the video! Page flipping is relaxing. I haven’t read many gothic romance books but I’m intrigued by the genre. These covers all look like Hitchcock movies. On the book front I started Intermezzo by Sally Rooney. Not a gothic romance 😆but it’s very good. Would be curious to hear your thoughts on it. There’s some stylistic experimentation in it that’s different for her.
I haven't read any of her books, but I hear Intermezzo is good. On StoryGraph the reviewers said that it is more of a character driven book with character growth, which I need to read more books like that.
@@biteofdog all her books are very character driven. If you’re getting into her work I’d start with “Conversations with Friends”. It’s her best novel in my opinion! But Intermezzo is great so far too
I haven't read any either but maybe I should! Haven't picked up Intermezzo yet but I hope to soon. I lost interest with Beautiful World so I've been waiting to feel the pull again. Would love to hear your thoughts when you're through! 💜
@@MauveASMR I lost interest in Beautiful World also, definitely her worst novel. Intermezzo is already better and I just started it 😀characters are very well defined at the beginning, will keep you posted!!
Such a good idea! And so well done! The algorithm must pick it up, otherwise it’s not as artificially intelligent as it pretends to be.🙂 “Trapped in a deserted French village, Jane must face her pursuers, be they living…or dead.” Quite funny considering I’ve been reading Juan Rulfo’s “Pedro Paramo”. Serendipity 😄
Having owned a copy of angel of witches the cover is top tier, amazing, but oh boy is the plot bad. Basically it’s the wife of a crippled pianist who hires a nurse to take back to Europe and her goal is to kill every single person with the same last name as the person who executed her ancestors for witchcraft… a plan in which she fact checks people’s identities zero percent, and if I’m remembering right there’s a plot culdesac in the middle where the nurse goes skiing with a handsome doctor? A lot of the pulp gothic tried to cross over with the pulp nurses fiction of the time with varying success.
If you enjoy this video, please consider leaving a like! As a video it’s not very algorithm-friendly but I love the book so much, I had to do it! 😊🙏

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! When I first saw the book it really felt like such a find 💜
I love this! Even when I was a kid I always adored the fonts on books like these- the vibe is unmatched 👻🖤
Yes -- the fonts alone!! 😍
I love this idea so much 😍 they need to do this for historical romance stepbacks!
I love this format of video, with the chop stick pointing to the book. Would love to see more!
Super interesting video! As a graphic designer, I really enjoyed analyzing the covers along with you 😁
Omg yes! As a graphic designer I bet you saw even more than I did 💜
The woman on the cover of Aquarius, My Evil is very reminiscent of a young Diana Rigg.
these covers really remind me of Nancy Drew!!
Yaaaaaay, it's Mauve Monday! These covers are so gorgeous. What a fabulous visual collection!
💜💜💜
Just found your channel! Love your voice its soo relaxing + all the tracing! It just about put me right to sleep! instant sub 🤩

Hi Mauve! Such a cool book! Why do I want to read these books? They all sound entertaining for some reason 😅 Thank you for the video!

Oh, wow! This book is incredible, thank you for sharing it!! I could look at these mass market paperback painted book covers _forever_ I think

RUclips recommended MST3K's version of Manos: the Hands of Fate as the next thing to watch after this, which is sort of perfect.
