Robin was naturally funny. I think he isn’t remembered or lauded as much as he should be, because he died so early in his career. He didn’t get a chance to truly shine.

Robin was not overlooked. After about two HBO stand-up specials of his own, and appearances in films (with a prominent feature as Kid's pops in "House Party 🏡", his Bebe's Kids routine earned its own animated film. Robin Harris had blown up before his untimely death. In no way was he overlooked. He had finally earned mainstream success. It's unfortunate, however, that he died soon thereafter. He died two years before the "Bebe's Kids" film, which he provided a voice-over for, was released. That's how soon he passed away after making it to the big time. He was not overlooked.

He was a skinny guy with big eyes and would tell me to stay in the hood but i wanted to do Comedy Store and Improv. He was not interested in that but he perfected his craft in his arena. I left in 82 to PURSUE a call to ministry, he persisted and broke through ultimately with his brand as black comedy went mainstream through cable. We were friends. He always made me feel comfortable when i would visit the local scene whether he was MC or waiting to go on stage. I knew he went to Manual Arts H.S. and avoided gangs by making people laugh. I was just thinking about your father right now. Never knew you existed. Your father was one of the funniest men to ever live. Easily. I miss him very much and when I think about my style of comedy there is always your father in the back of my mind. Fearless. Hilarious. One of a kind. I wish you and your family the best and I hope one day your father's legacy will be cherished more and recognized. Robin was and is your father but to me he was one of the funniest men I have ever seen in life and a lifelong teacher. Him and Bernie were our legends. May he rest in peace.

Surprisingly not any test tube baby comments. Robin Harris is on my Mount Rushmore of comedians. He’s the first comedian to make me cry from laughter. Going to blockbuster and renting Babes kids was my favorite past time. “Pewe OG” “OG? Well I’ll put my F.O.O.T in your B.U.T! Lmboooo classic. Then the Joke he had on Martin Lawrence in house party, then the beaten he gave to Kid in the end of one of the house parties. Man this man was revolutionary. May he still Rest In Paradise and Much respect and God Bless to Robin Harris Jr.

I remember when the news of Robin's sudden passing was announced and I was so shocked! I was 16 back then and even then, it seemed so unfair to me, especially after hearing he was only 36. Some fool started a rumor that it happened backstage and that lie was going around far too long! I learned years later that his widow had to endure a pregnancy & it made me even sadder! It's good to see his son and we need to see more of him! He's a huge part of Robin's legacy. #RIPRobinHarris
