Little red corvette is a metaphor for a fast woman. He’s saying she needs to slow down and that he was intimidated when he saw all the jockeys (aka men) that had been there before him. He thinks she needs to slow down before she runs herself right into the ground. He was a genius songwriter!
That dance move with the splits, is partially responsible for his "SECRET ADDICTION" to pain medication/ OPIATES, he destroyed his hips and legs doing THAT GREAT DANCING only he did!
Prince was my favorite and I found him in 1981 with his Controversy album . I was 12 . My mom never caught any of the lyrics until I was playing to death The purple rain album. I was 15. My parents were very strict and I will never forget the shocked look on my mother’s face when she realized what he was talking about in one of his dirtier songs lol. She also was not a fan of the fact that I had Prince posters all over my walls. I then started filling in all blank spaces with magazine photos of Prince, Morris Day and the Time, Sheila, E, and vanity. At one point I had the photo on the inside cover of the controversy album of Prince standing in the shower in nothing but a speedo and my mom saw it and was horrified. She told me I had to take that one down so instead, I made him a pair of pants out of construction paper and had him wear pants when my mom was coming into my room lol I was 15 what do you want?😂
This one was refreshing!! When I was 12, I had my first hardcore make-out session with a gorgeous girl, and this album(1999) was playing. Hearing this takes me there, every time, and she got me into Prince! This dude is an INSANE guitarist as well... you should check out some stuff off Purple Rain!! Yes, the whole song is a double entendre!!
You’re first Prince!? Oh, you’re going down the ultimate rabbit hole now! Prince was a genius. Keep going, Cliff. 🤟🏼🔥 Note: I saw you missed the part where he arrived at her house- “I guess I should've closed my eyes When you drove me to the place where your horses run free 'Cause I felt a little ill when I saw all the pictures Of the jockeys that were there before me.” 😊😂
He designed his guitar 🎸, it was a CUSTOM, one of a kind, NOBODY had a guitar that sounded like his, THE GUITAR FROM PURPLE RAIN, and after. 1999 I think he was using a FENDER. BUT I LOVE HIS EARLY, 70'S, 80'S, AND 90'S best. Excellent Self taught musician/ composer, in the studio, I read that he recorded all the tracks/ and instruments himself, He only had a band for touring with
He didn't just write for himself. But 'Nothing Compares To You', while he wrote this song for his use it was recorded by Sinead O'Conner and became a very big hit. 'Sugar Walls' was for Sheena Easton who was an amazing singer until her life style caught up with her. 'Manic Monday' for the Bangles. He also co-wrote songs for Madonna and 'Stand Back' with Stevie Nicks. He was prolific and could churn out an album's worth of good songs with 3-4 great ones mixed in there. He could play like 27 different instruments kind of like Dimash only more so when it came to playing instruments. But the guitar is the one that made him a childhood prodigy. If you get a chance watch his contribution on a Tribute performance to George Harrison's 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' at The Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame induction night. I'll give you the link. Prince lobbied to be on it to do what he do to show he belonged in the Rolling Stone top 100 guitarists of all-time. So with a huge chip on his shoulder he 'lit it up'. ruclips.net/video/dWRCooFKk3c/видео.html 'My Guitar Gently Weeps' Prince guitar solo.
Also, fun fact this song was written with his girlfriend at the time, Vanity , in mind. He met her when she was a backup singer for Rick James. He met her and told her to come with him and he would make her famous. She did and he did. When she died, 2 months before he did, he learned of it while performing on stage. He stopped and dedicated this song to her and played on his piano.
Nobody will blow your mind consistently on these reactions quite like Prince in that every single song, genre, vibe will be completely different but the performance will be 1 million percent perfection. He may not have been THEE greatest at anything but the only artist in history who is ONE of the greatest at nearly EVERYTHING. Especially when the spotlight was on. Musician of the highest order, World Class Vocalist with unimaginable range and dexterity, Prolific innovative Songwriter, Athletic Dancer, Genius Producer, Top Shelf Performer, Perfect Band Leader. Plus the man had mad style and took on the music industry! See for yourself cause some people who don’t believe either simply don’t really know our music isn’t for them. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
This has been one of my favorite songs since I was a child! Yes, for many years I did think it was about a car. Truly, this is a bit tame compared to some of his sex related songs, he often didn't bother with metaphors. Though it doesn't provide the opportunity to see him play guitar I love the video and the hint of his dance skills that it provides. He certainly did push his body with those moves and it unfortunately contributed to tragic results in later life - chronic pain and opioids and overdosing. R.I.P Prince
Please do the extended version of When Doves Cry! The ending is fantastic! You won't hear it in any other version. Also do, Get Off (video verson)! Flipping awesome! So many good songs!
Please, You gotta watch his live performance of Purple Rain at the AMA's 1985..it was unbelievable!! ❤ Love your reaction on this! The expression on your face, priceless! 😂😂His dance moves were epic!!! 🔥🔥✌️
2 of my favorite Prince performances are his Super Bowl Half Time Show and the tribute to George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". His is AMAZING! Please check one or both of these out.
Everyone has already said a lot about him, so what else can I say, except I too would love you to do more of Prince. Anything really. He has a lot of talent, and soooo much sex appeal. I don't know what it is about him, but it's something!
Prince was a legend. A big rabbit hole to go down, and I hope you do. My personal favorite songs of his would be "Let's Go Crazy" (If you ever do this, I hope you will do the FULL version. Most people do the shorter one) and "Kiss". Great reaction
You need to see Prince on the Midnight Special. It aired in January 1980 and it was most peoples first time seeing him. WOW! everyone was talking about him the next day. I was 25 and blown away like everyone else. The song is: I Want To Be Your Lover (even if you don't do it for the channel, watch it and remember it was on tv 43 years ago. Shocking back then 😳)
Besides being a great song on its own, I Wanna Be Your Lover is a great way to get an idea of early Prince, it also showcases his lovely falsetto. I also like the video as you can actually see glimpses of him playing all the instruments as he did in the studio recording.
Dude: I just discovered your channel and I love your comments and reactions! Keep up your good work! If I could suggest another Prince video, it would be "Get Off." Oh, and most of his songs ALWAYS contained double entendres.
Kiss and Theives in the Temple are videos he really showcases his dance moves in. You should also check out lots of live performances. After the 90’s he stopped doing the splits but still danced quite a bit until about 2012. A lot of his songs had double meanings. He’s great on guitar, piano and bass. He’s also a pretty good drummer and can play other instruments too. He produced all his own albums and many others too. His first 5 albums he did almost completely by himself.
Love Prince! It'd be a fun adventure to go in a (sort of) order, from early music to his last stuff. You can hear how he matures and develops different sounds. (I say "sort of" because so much of his music wasn't released in the order it was written). But still, start with Soft & Wet, Erotic City, I Wanna Be Your Lover, (Little Red Corvette would go about here), 1999, When Doves Cry, Purple Rain (watch the Superbowl Halftime performance of his, too). That should get you started. Lemme know when you need more. Been a fan since his first album in 1979 (For You). Thanks for the reaction!
I vividly remember being a little girl singing along with the song, and my mother turned it off, saying (almost hissing) that the song was about a vagina.
I was in high school when this album came out, and it was a life changing in some ways. Prince was the first artist on my personal radar who celebrated the fact that we are all sexual beings, and that safe, consensual sex was a fun part of being human. Plus, he was so unapologetically HIMSELF, fully embracing both the masculine and the feminine. All of that, in addition to being outrageously talented. (Ren reminds me of Prince more than a little, not in his music so much but in his talents, his commitment to being100% himself, and his refusal to be confined by genre.)
I was a PRINCE fan since 6th grade, that was the early 80's, and it was before I became a METAL HEAD. YEAH I DEFINITELY THINK "LITTLE RED CORVETTE," is a reference to, or another word for "P#SSY!" 😂
Great reaction! Prince is amazing. Nobody has more talent 💜 He taught himself to play over 20 instruments and wrote over 6000 songs. If you want some rock Prince check out Let's Go Crazy next, for some funk/experimental pop and another masterpiece react to When Doves Cry the extended version. Oh, Cliff! You would have loved the 80s! Lyrics almost HAD to have double meanings or they would it get radio play. Such a creative time. I was looking at a Bilboard Top 40 from 1981 and there were country, rock, r&b, jazz and pop artists on it. The radio played everything. ❤
Late to the party, but this is one of the most well written and raunchy songs ever written. It beat the radio censors even though in terms of lyrical meaning, it's up there with Darling Nikki and some of Prince's dirtiest songs. "Trojan, and some of them used." Yes, Cliff, that means exactly what you think it means 😂. Prince had the ability to write some of the greatest lyrics and pop music ever, or some of the dirtiest. Sometimes he did it at the same time, and this is a good example. But where Nikki used a seductive woman as a metaphor for the literal Devil, this was just about a loose female, using a car as a metaphor for a girl.
Hi man, react to Prince's video "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man". I think you will like that one too. Anyway, thanks for reacting to Prince, my favorite musician and artist of all time.
Dive deep down the purple rabbit hole! Prince eras different started sellin his own music before anyone else. He’s why all artist trying to own their masters! If reviewing more Prince rock n roll hall of fame “while my guitar gentle weeps”! Will blow your mind trust me! EZ Mil very similar to Prince in talent. Very similar tracks in career thus far!
1:44 You want sex symbol?! 😏"Get Off" by Prince You know it's a really good song when the lyrics are risqué enough, that MTV pulls it from broadcasting.😂
You need to react to let’s go crazy, 1999 or Adam Levine’s cover of Purple Rain and then Adam discussing it on the Howard stern show. He talks about What Prince says about his cover on that one.

He was a brilliant, dirty minded, musical genius.
You should see his Super Bowl performance. Pure 🔥
If he watches the video for Cream his head will explode! 😂
Definitely watch Superbowl performance
Yes it’s a classic!! 🔥 🌧️
The full 12 minute performance
The absolute best!!!
Prince,Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne ( tribute to George Harrison) “While my guitar gently weeps” A MUST WATCH for Prince at his most badass

I used to listen to this song as a kid; my mom loves him. Wasnt until recently I was like, "OH" 😂
That dance move with the splits, is partially responsible for his "SECRET ADDICTION" to pain medication/ OPIATES, he destroyed his hips and legs doing THAT GREAT DANCING only he did!
The fact that he was dancing in heels is impressive
Lets Go Crazy, 1999, Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, Kiss to start with but there's MUCH more.
💜🕊️
WE NEED MORE PRINCE ON THIS CHANNEL!
Song: Little Red Corvette; Album Title: 1999; Release Date: October 27, 1982
"I'm gonna tame your little red love machine". hmmm, I wonder what that could mean? lol

Hilarious! 😂
You made him a pair of pants made out of construction paper.
That was good.
Prince is legendary! This is just dipping your toe in…
There's so many you should really react to. Prince was a musical genius. The album Sign O' the Times should definitely be listened to completely.
He was great and if you noticed he did all of what he did in heels

You MUST do "Adore" it is one of his most famous slow jams... And is absolutely amazing song!!!

All of Prince's songs had a double meaning. You need to listen to the song if I was your girlfriend. That shows His expertise as a songwriter
Did you just ask if the song had hidden meaning, like, a song? It's about alot more than sex and I don't think it's sexist.
