Holding Company is one of my favorite songs from Linkin Park. I think it's unfinished despite having a lot of potential, and if I had to pick, it wouldn't even cut my top 30 songs from the band. But I adore it for a whole other reason: It inspires me. Because this eventually turned into Lost In The Echo. I was a much younger girl when I fell in love with music through this band, and I did it, not just through their music, but through their 'making of' videos. It taught me things about creativity and the creative process that I still heavily uses. The main thing: It's ok to change things, don't get too attached to that thing you're making and don't ever be afraid to just change it. The fact that this somehow turned into Lost In The Echo is absolutely astounding. And even more is the fact that it's not because it needed to be changed, but because it's just the way creating things work. If the first demo of Lost In The Echo was pretty much the version we got on the album? It would've changed dramatically as well. It might've even turned into a refined version of Holding Company, with lyrics and all. Because of the nature of the creative process, things will be changed. Because as an artist, you love your work through what it took to get to this point, and not the final result. You love that song you made, that game you built, that book you wrote, that art you drew, because of what it was and could've been, but ended up being. If you go in and set your mind on making a very specific thing, and you don't allow it to naturally change because you put your ego into it, you will fail to make something you truly love. That's not to say you shouldn't ever set out to do something specific, just that you should remain openminded and let whatever happens, happen. You can make something that people will percieve as being the best thing you've ever done in a few hours, but would it even be satisfying to you, the artist? Probably not. Making things is not about what comes out of it. Being comfortable with trying things that don't work, with spending sometimes weeks of work on something, only to decide: _"Hey, you know what? I prefer a version of that I did way earlier."_ is not part of the process, it is the process. Just make sure to never delete anything, archive everything. That thing you did but ended up hating, you may be able to come back to it someday and make it something powerful and wonderful.
Man, watching the rest of the band go "I like the vibe but the melody needs to change" must have been killer, even after so many years working with them and expecting it.
They are phenomenal absolutely they had a special creativity and way of doing things and excellent changes and ideas, but not the best? Ok that’s your opinion, they’re the best for me and fans.
+Victimized watch making of the living things! You will see when they are talking about holding company later on it says lost in the echo. The same thing will be for burn it down. They talk and say that songs change in the proces. A lot can change in a year
@@MercuryEV Well the description says it’s from 2011, and someone’s comment says it’s a demo for Lost in the Echo (which makes sense because the lyrics fit perfectly into this). But I had the same thought as OP when I first listened to this; it sounds so much like Iridescent

Perfection they really are the best band in the world
great demo. 2:55 best part imo, it has a nostalgic, emotional kind of feel to it.
Holding Company (Lost In The Echo Demo 2011)
For once that’s actually correct good job
Man, watching the rest of the band go "I like the vibe but the melody needs to change" must have been killer, even after so many years working with them and expecting it.
They are phenomenal. Not the best band, but definitely the most cohesive, opportunistic, and versatile band I can think of.
For me, the best band
No they are the best
Who is the best band then? If you say something cliche like the Beatles or Nirvana, I’ll laugh. Give me a break.
Mr. Bungle is way more versatille, lp is still my favorite band though
They are phenomenal absolutely they had a special creativity and way of doing things and excellent changes and ideas, but not the best? Ok that’s your opinion, they’re the best for me and fans.
I can imaging the vocals from "LOST IN THE ECHO" going well with this instrumental.
Wut a fckng awsome imagination ty hahah
It's Lost in the echo demo, but i hears motives from Iridescent. Kinda interesting. 🤔
They should've added a guitar solo in like the solo in iridescent! That would've been perfect!
idk if you know this but now that is lost in the echo
+linkin krap how!?! The only thing they have in common is the techno sound! This can't be lost in the echo.
+Victimized watch making of the living things! You will see when they are talking about holding company later on it says lost in the echo. The same thing will be for burn it down. They talk and say that songs change in the proces. A lot can change in a year
i heard iridescent too
One of the best instrumental songs of all time. INCREDIBLE. LEGEND.
theme: social
topic: company
mood: dance/happy
setting: building
title: holding company
I think the mood is hopeful as well
En la intro extendida de Lost in the echo se puede escuchar esta instrumental
lost in the echo 2... This can be a remake if they done a recharge version 2 and remade living things and hunting party.
The beginning sounds like the intro for lost in the echo used in live shows
Yes it does! Holding company is Lost in the Echo's demo
reminds me a lot of iridescent for some reason
Is their demo of it lmao

Tbh this always reminded me of that piano on the Purdue University commercial
I love the intro
That beginning is something from rainworld, I swear to jod
Sounds like an upbeat Shadow of the Day
Masterpiece
