- Australia’s top police and intelligence officers have appealed to social media platforms to do more to combat terrorism, extremism and child exploitation online - calling for access to encrypted platforms. As they were issuing dire warnings, hundreds of police carried out a series of counter-terrorism raids in Sydney linked to the stabbing of a bishop at an Assyrian Orthodox church last week.
The United Nations has expressed horror at the discovery of mass graves at Gaza hospitals and demanded an independent investigation. The UN says some of the victims' hands were tied and had been stripped of their clothes. Israel has dismissed claims its army buried the bodies to cover-up atrocities during raids.
