This is hands down the best online guitar course I’ve ever watched. I love that you’re giving exercises, taking it slow, not trying to rush us. It’s obvious to me that you are genuinely a very talented guitar teacher and I’m so sorry you have been affected negatively by this crisis, but I’m very thankful and lucky that you’re willing to share your skills with us. I bought a guitar years ago and have tried to learn but have always given up. I’m so excited to start following your 12 week course and get some real work done on starting out this hobby. I’m a singer and have wanted to start making videos but have no skills on any instrument with which I could accompany myself. I’m excited to start learning! I highly recommend Scott’s videos. I’ve been following since week one, currently at week 4 and I can really see my progress. This is coming from someone who has never picked up a guitar before but has always wanted to learn. Scott’s tutorials are very easy to follow. Scott - I'm a 68 year old Welsh-Yorkshireman who's been living downunder for 45 years.
I have a pot belly and arthritis in the index finger of my fretting hand and my first ever guitar arrived by courier today, after deciding 2 weeks ago that now is the perfect time in my life to learn the guitar! 😂
I've spent 8 hours a day for the last 2 weeks preparing by watching every "beginner tutorial " on YT, including all the top teaching names, so I'm well versed in the various options out there.
Thanks to RUclips's algorithm, you just popped up in my feed, and having just watched your first lesson I wanted to drop you a note to say how much I enjoyed it, and that you've already made a difference here.

I've been playing for 12 years but it's good to go back to the basics sometimes because as you play, you can develop bad habits like not using your pinky enough, overly flamboyant strumming, etc

I bought a book to learn guitar and I wasn't comfortable with it because I need someone showing me how to do it, rather than just reading about it. I also didn't want to just learn chords. At the beginning of this crazy quarantine, my teenage daughter decided she wanted to learn guitar. So I bought an acoustic (classical) guitar. She played it for maybe 2 weeks. I've picked up the guitar here and there since I was a teenager. Now I'm in my 30s and I decided today I want to really have a crack at learning to play guitar. I picked up all the basic chords but have absolutely no discipline and figured I should start from the beginning and try to learn good habits and maybe understand more about the guitar itself. I just searched for learn to play guitar in youtube tonight and found this video! Thank you so much for starting this, I will definitely be following along and make 2020 the year I finally learn to play guitar! I've had a guitar hanging around in the corner of the room since I was 16 and couldnt immediately shred it...15 years later and I guess quarantine is the kick in the arse I need to learn it finally...but on Sunday when my tuner thing arrives because I know I wont be able to do that for a while and i want to have a fighting chance at making something that doesn't sound totally awful :)

I learned to play the guitar to a basic extent years ago, but fell away from it (I'm primarily a pianist), so I'm basically treating myself as a beginner now. Here's hoping my dad is right and my string fingers have stayed tough enough to make things a little easier this time around. xD Thank you for doing this. Lately I've been wishing I knew guitar (so I can record shitty covers of The Mountain Goats songs lol) and as someone who's uhhh high risk enough that I've been stuck inside this whole time and will continue to be stuck inside until it's over......I have literally nothing but free time!
