In the second episode of Jharkhand Food series, we have come to the home of our host Rashmi Saha in Patna to experience a traditional Jharkhandi breakfast that is primarily rice dominant. Rashmi is a Life Coach & NLP practitioner by profession, a Social reformer by heart, and a Traveler by passion, a Poet and Vlogger by interest. As a Life Coach and Social Reformer, she works on Menstrual Hygiene problems & Taboos, Mental Health Issues , Unemployment ,Gender based violence etc.
Here we met Rashmi's soft spoken and warm hearted parents who introduced us to various aspects of their breakfast culture. Soon after we joined Rashmi at the kitchen to make one of the family's favourite snacks, Chura Matar. As the name suggests, it is a savoury dish made of flattened rice and fresh green peas. They had used dry roasted flattened rice that lent it a satisfying crunch. After munching on it with tea we went on to make the most popular Jharkhandi breakfast dish called dhuska. These are deep fried fluffy and spiced bread made of rice and lentil batter. It was followed by malpua whose pleasant smell pervaded the whole kitchen.
The dhuska were served with chutney, pickle and ghugni. With the latter, it made a complete meal. We loved the sugar syrup rich malpua with ghugni. The interplay of sweet and savoury flavours were simply exciting. Jharkhandi breakfast is predominantly rice based as it is the staple crop. The eating spree was punctuated with much personal, anecdotal and socio-cultural information.

Such a decent family. Soft spoken and cultured. I love this aspect about small-town India.
Ranchi is not a small town 🤷🏻♂️
It's not a small town by the way
The hosts are very knowledgeable. Keep doing these types of insightful videos.

What an amazing blog … simplicity is the key 😊
Being a Ranchiite , it was great to see the good old jharkhandi food :)
Dumboo 'chilka roti, madudwa roti, beng sag, putkal sag, mad jhor, khukdi ,Rugda ,sandhna, arsa, bahut hain sahab.......
Sir..I follow your journey for last 1year.... you are one of the best food bloggers.... Your presentation is very simple and effective....after the food show 'Jayeka India ka' in Nd TV by Vinod Dua sir I find your program is the most effective one...
Anubhav Sapra’s humility, courtesy while talking to the hosts and his excitement to try new food . Undoubtedly the best food journalist of India.
I agree.
This is Ranchi dude.
Very decent and cultured family. Great way of hosting. Dhuska with chatni and pua is my favorite as well.
Thankyou for the kind words ☺️🙏
There used to be a saying Indians change their accent when they come back spending a week abroad. Biharis change theirs when a camera is switched on. Why be so conscious of speaking naturally in the way you always do. Khadi Boli is not the only Hindi .. there are dialects.. be proud of your roots..
They are from Jharkhand not Bihar.
@@mehmeetdhar7618 Either way doesn't matter... The tone and dialect is not local.
@@mehmeetdhar7618
Jharkhand is culturally bihar..... Except those tribals
@@SatyamKumar-px1ch yeah tribals make up more than half of the population so calling it culturally similar to bihar is wrong. Its the fact that non tribals dominate the positions. Tribal representation takes a back seat
Nice upload
Looking forward for Jharkhand series
How did you find the traffic in Ranchi ?
A small suggestion sir if u can please put atleast one recipe which is typical of each place so that we can try those.
Lots of similarities in Bengali , Bihari & Jharkhandi food & culture even in the bottle of Dula's tal Misri😅🤭
Didn't you notice their surname 'Saha' i.e. a commonly found surname in Bengali community. Perhaps these people settled in the areas that come under Jharkhand/Bihar state jurisdiction, even before these states were constituted. Subsequently they started identifying as well as introducing themselves as Jharkhandi/Bihari despite having a lot of similarities still with Bengali culture.
@@786sourav Saha is a common surname among Biharis too. Difficult to say where their roots might be from. Anyways, we do have people from both Bihar and Bengal who settled down in Jharkhand generations ago. They are proud Jharkhandi now.
@@anshumansatpathy9598.. Debate over the racial ancestry wasn't intended anywhere in my comment. Btw, if you go by caste based history of the region, 'Saha' is purely a Bengali surname. Where as the only resembling surname found in Bihar/Jharkhand is 'Shah' and both aren't the same.
You're mistaken.
@@786sourav shah are teli community in bihar
@@nirmalakumari9480.. I have a friend 'Naveen Shah' from Barauni, Bihar. They belong to 'Baniya' community.
Let's put an end to this topic unanimously as it's brewing a little racial colours that's definitely not something we want to fume up. At least, I'm too reluctant to respond to this topic any longer. Excuse me please 🙏

Sir iss series ka mza alg hai. Restaurants and street food ka to mza hai hi but iss series me alag apnapan hai
Ghar ke khane ki baat hi kuch aur hoti hai.
Har aurat ke haat me naya zaika hota hai.
Very nice video 👍👍👍
