Should've mentioned Udit Narayan too while discussing Yeh Taara Woh Taara. His powerful vocals uplifted the song and rightfully earned him the National Award for the same.

I saw swades on the big screen when I was 10 th standard, I was in love with the movie and none of my colleagues would appreciate that. Now 20 yrs later, having worked overseas and having returned back, swades remains utmost special. Almost defines me.
Swades is such a wonderfully honest film .. the simplicity and emotion in it is exceptional and very touching. Also, it's one of the rare films where I felt Shah Rukh Khan truly did a brilliant job, in a genuinely well made movie. Ashutosh's vision is impeccable, and the screenplay holds the audience so deeply. Having sensible minds like Aamir & Ashutosh in our industry is a treasure and blessing.

My favourite song from Swadesh is " Pal Pal hai bhari.." such an amazing and simple way to understand the real philosophy of Shri Ram and also the concept of Good and Evil.
In my opinion Swades can be easily placed in top 15 movies india has ever made. I guess many agree with it. As a teenager i thoroughly enjoyed it when it released and now i still visit this movie on free time. It discusses various issues. You can feel the smell of indian soil and fragnace of indian villages through your eyes.
Biggest acievement by Swadesh is people after 50 years will remember Sahrukh Khan for this movie not for DDLG which i personally dont like that much as other people liked it

In a country where Nonsense films like Pushpa 2 and RRR are hyped and seen like it's the last film made on earth......the true and realistic portrayal of burning issues of Our society and more importantly it made us questioning ourselves as Citizens how we are so reckless and expecting others to change the things always...... it's way beyond the our audience intelligence probably the film was addressing the issues which were important to society and but audience didn't seem to care......they wanted naach gaana and mindless action still need the same and they're getting it , will keep on getting it....and films like swades will😮 find lesser star in the lead lesser budget lesser media attention and a OTT platform.....

Also Ayaan Mukherjee’s first film as an Assistant Director was Swades so he paid a homage to Mohan’s character through Shahrukh Sir in Bhramastra. Basic R&D and trivia before interviewing a person on his film is a given right or am I expecting too much? Especially for a legendary masterpiece like Swades.
Theatre actor lol. This PR-driven myth refuses to die. SRK did a few workshops and a handful of extremely mediocre plays with Barry John in the 80s. Does not make him a theatre actor. Everyone associated with the Mandi House ecosystem back in the day knows this. Naseer, Om Puri, Irrfan, Manoj Bajpai, Piyush Mishra, Gajraj Rao, Manoj Pahwa, Yashpal, KK Menon, Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar and so on are the ones who came purely from theatre. I have seen all of them on stage including Utpal Dutt, Shabana Azmi, Girish Karnad, Farooq Shaikh, Kulbushan Kharbanda on stage in the 80s. Nobody knew SRK as a theatre actor. He came into limelight after Col. Kapoor picked him for Fauji. Look, I’m a fan of SRK as well, but he’s not even remotely close to the definition of a great actor. He reached where he is because of his unmatched charm, personality and single-minded dedication towards becoming a star. Also helped by some good fortune which is always important and people who helped him along the way. Raw talent is nowhere in the scene when it comes to SRK. Or even Aamir. Both mediocre actors with a few standout performances here and there like a Swades. As for Salman, acting and him doesn’t belong in the same sentence.

Host tried to degrade srk by saying he had a Romantic image and indirectly saying he has proved himself in romantic roles only till 2004 host didn't saw KhKN baazigar darr anjaam dil se devdas Raju ban gaya gentleman baddshah & many more but she made a fool of herself nothing else
The film was great but could have been much better if it was well edited. There were some scenes which were unnecessary or felt like distraction from the main motive of the film. There were 2 unnecessary songs which were not required at all and also significantly increased the length of the film. There were unnecessary lectures by Geeta in some scenes, like the one in which she lectures her potential in-laws on women empowerment.
I think the person who should be grateful to Swades is Shah Rukh.. it's the ONLY film in his career where he's done understated subtle acting and played the character .. Shah rukh the "actor" was visible .. in every other film till date, he's the star SRK and not the actor.

@sumbdi agree on CDI and KHKN.. But MNIK not sure .. ESPLY in emotional scenes you could see that exaggerated facial expressions characteristic of SRK .. not one of his best acting exhibitions
