I have watched alot of demo's on you tube, and this guitar is right up there with bourgeois and collings, and santa cruz. That little guitar sounds real good. I have the oo 28 modern delux ,and it dosent siund as good as this small martin.
Best sounding and easiest to play guitar that I have come across to date. It replaced my 00-18 Kenny Sultan as my go to guitar and the one I grab when I wake up while lying on top of the bed. And you're right, the sustain is crazy...
Great demo! I feel like this guitar would be perfect for living in a house in the wilderness. One day. Right now I’m in the market for a Gibson Southern Jumbo.
not to split hairs, but a single 0 is actually not parlor sized. it's a full szie guitar, small by today's standards, but rather large for its day. The size 1 was Martin's "standard size" for a full size gut string and the 0 was "one bigger" as the sizes went up as the number went down. Anyway, a parlor guitar is typically defined as being a 24'' scale length or shorter. Nowadays, single 0s are called "parlor" in the modern marketplace but it's not technically true. Just a little fun fact! I have a custom shop single 0. I love them and mine also sustains for days.
Well, you are correct historically for sure. I have an old Washburn that’s probably a genuine “parlor” for its time and I’ve had a number of CN Bruno, Victoria, Oscar Schmidt etc that would also have fit the bill. However, in the modern vernacular, I sure think of this one in the “parlor” sense, as it’s the most comfortable couch picker I’ve got now! And since it’s a “Modern Deluxe” , maybe it’s a Modern Parlor, lol? Cheers 😉
She’s a great little player. Fit and finish are superb, the fretboard and frets are exactly what you’d hope for. The neck shape is comfortable, but I sort of wish they’d done the Modified V, that’s my favorite. The tone and sustain are just getting even better, and I tried some Thomastik Enffeld Plextrums on it, great string for this small body, they are very warm and the low tension makes them very slinky feeling. All in all, she’s a great guitar to add to the herd. She won’t replace having a Dread and/or an OM, but a great one for comfortable couch picking!
@@brianmcfarland4745 Well that’s great then, I understand exactly what you mean. I have been thinking about getting one of these but didn’t want to spend over $4K + or more, I love these Martin 12 fret smaller guitars . I have a Martin 00012-16ce nylon string that I purchased recently that I am still in awe at the quality , organ like sound and playability of the instrument. It’s my first really high quality finger style guitar and nylon also. So I never even intended on purchasing a nylon guitar until I played one for maybe 45 seconds and I was so overwhelmed by how good it sounded that I couldn’t hardly do the guitar justice with the emotional reaction of hearing it the first time. It was at a local guitar tech’s shop that he was trying to sell on consignment. So he was standing there, his son and my better half was sitting there and I knew at that moment it was going home with me. felt like I just wanted to take it home in private and attempt to play the guitar to its potential…. That was an amazing experience . It was also a good learning experience. It’s the kind of instrument that makes you want to improve your skills and be able to hear easier your mistakes, errors, miss-frets , or any other type unintentional errors in your performance. I can honestly tell you that anytime I hear something that doesn’t sound so great it’s never been the Martins fault. It’s always me and that’s difficult as a guitarist to come to terms with when before this purchase you thought your skills were fine. Yeah that’s an interesting scenario but I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve had zero complaints or issues with the guitar. Not to mention for the quality and playability, and organ sound quality for around $2000.00 list retail price. I didn’t even pay the list price for this instrument , however I do believe it is worth the retail price. Also I am not trying to sell any guitar so this is my honest opinion with nothing to gain . For whatever that is worth. Lol. It sounds so good that even though I know putting steel strings on it would ruin it, I still cannot help but imagine at how good it would sound with steel strings with it being so great with nylon. Yeah it’s odd to even ponder something you paid a good sum of cash on that would most definitely ruin the guitar… and knowing that but yet catching yourself still wondering how would it sound… lol…. It’s a real cannon, just like the video of yours sounded even through my little iPhone speaker… that’s impressive.
Well, this one’s a Single 0, but I actually just put it on my Reverb page for sale. I love it, and not in any hurry to sell it, but I’m having some GAS for a Gibson 1934 Jumbo and probably need to sell a couple to do that!
Today I played an Advanced Jumbo and was reminded how powerful every one of them I’ve ever played are. Also tried out a 0012-28 and was a bit underwhelmed. I thought the VTS torrified tops are supposed to sound well broken in but TBH it didn’t have the punch or sustain of my Sitka/Cuban mahogany 00 sized 12 fret that a luthier built for me In September. And when I tried medium strings on her, she was as loud as my D-28!
That sure is a ringer. Richness comes from the deep body. A lifetime guitar, the best you'll ever have or want.
Absolutely beautiful guitar and playing!
Congratulations with the purchase!
What a little piano!

Man, what a truly awesome guitar!
Beautiful guitar. I have an om28 MD coming in soon. Great playing and that martin logo sure is great to look at.
Beautiful guitar! Thanks for showing it!
Keep on truckin' brotha!
the torrified sitka top is the only thing you missed, that is adding to the sustain.
I sure ❤ mine!
Martin needs to make the 0-21 standard 12 fret.
Congrats!
I think it sounds better than the 00. The 00 always sounds like it's aired out. What's the difference anyways?
Can't find one anywhere!
Great demo! I feel like this guitar would be perfect for living in a house in the wilderness. One day. Right now I’m in the market for a Gibson Southern Jumbo.
Lol, me too! I’ve been GAS-ing for an SJ or maybe the Advanced Jumbo for the longer scale since I have a J-45 already. Great minds think alike, lol
🔥🔥🔥🔥

I mess jet black ebony….but I get it “it doesn’t grow on trees” anymore, so to speak….
Great axe!
Which ones did you sell?
Gold frets and Waverley’s! Win win.
Play it with pic it gets louder ,,,,,
I want Martin to bevel a 000 so it fits like a double 0
I would love to have one of these...but at $4600...I'll pass.
I’ve heard bad things in reviews of the D series of the Modern Deluxe
I think you just sold me one lol
How are you liking it?

I've been thinking about a 00. That guitar is 2-4 thousand $ cheaper than A Collings, Bougeous, Santa Cruz 4:06
